Laterâ¦
The time to set off arrived and so we all split up and went our separate ways. Both my S Class and the A Class decided to take the most direct route which also happens to be the most âdangerousâ. Even so, with the camping car/bus, the S Class have a major advantage in speed.
I mean, I donât like travelling, but as much as I would love to make another one of those for the A Class kids to get this over and done with, I can't just make something out of thin air as I would have no way to explain it. Hypnotising children with runes also doesnât sit well with me either.
So I just settle with dealing with the journey like a normal pleb.
But I DID subtly add some runes onto the carriage to make the journey faster.
.
.
.
Along with several other things.
Anne- âWhy are the horses running so fast?â
Elizabeth- âTheyâre not tiring eitherâ¦â
Ukya- âWe never encountered any monstersâ¦â
Hehe. Ain't nobody got time for resting or monsters. Except when itâs night, I can't explain the horses running at double their full speed for several days straight.
Anne- âGyaaah! At this rate, won't this finish before we do anything!?â
Rimuru- âIsn't that a good thing though?â
I speak up from my position at the back of the carriage.
Anne- âOf course not! We have to show you how great we are, right guys?â
Anne turns to her classmates who also eagerly nod.
Why do they want to show off to me⦠Is it because Jeff told them to?
No, despite how it looks, he wouldnât force his students into doing something just for his own pride.
Which means they are doing this with their own will.
But why?
Rimuru- âHmm⦠is that so? Then when we stop to rest for the night, how about a mock battle? You can show off to me there.â
Anne- âMock battle?â
I nod my head.
Rimuru- âYeah. I will summon a monster for you to fight, you can show off to me there.â
I said with a smile.
The kids seem to like that idea, especially Anne who is the most enthusiastic.
Well, I donât need to do this. I can already see how prepared and focused they are. During the whole trip, they constantly looked at the surroundings, preparing for any monster attack. When they had the chance they also talked about tactics.
Admirable. But, personally, I believe that they, like kids, should also have fun. Thus, I placed those runes.
Rimuru- âRight, how about we play a game?â
Illory- âGame?â
I nod my head again and take out a pack of cards from my pocket. On the back of each card is the word âUnoâ.
Rimuru- âThis game is call Uno. Iâll teach you how to playâ¦â
Curiosity sparkles in their eyes.
Anne- âB-Butâ¦â
Rimuru- âOh, come on! No monsters have attacked yet even after a few hours. Even if a monster suddenly attacks, Iâll sense it and tell you beforehand. So come on!â
Oloy- âIs that even allowedâ¦?â
Rimuru- âWell, I'm distracting you with this game in the first place, so it should be fine for me to do this at least. Yeah?â
With my impeccable adult logic, the inexperienced children quickly relented and sat down around me.
Rimuru- âThen, Iâll teach you how to playâ¦â
I'm gonna drop so many +4âs on these bratsâ¦
3 hours laterâ¦
Rimuru- âGuh!â
I drop to my hands and knees in an orz pose.
Rimuru- âB-Bakana(Impossible)â¦!â
Anne- âAnd thatâs 13 consecutive losses, Rimuru-san!â
Anne says as she drops her final card down onto the pile.
Itâs a fucking +4.
I lost 13 times against children who didnât even know what the game was called not that long ago.
Anne won this time, but before that, Elizabeth won. And before that, Ukya won. In short, they all had a win under their belt.
Except me.
Bruh.
A ray of sunlight enters my eyes. Looking towards the horizon, I find the sun already setting.
Rimuru- âDusk, huhâ¦â
The kids heard my muttering before also noticing the time.
Rimuru- âShould we stop here?â
Anne- âWeâll do that. Stop the carriage and set up camp!â
Anne turns back into her leader mode and issues out efficient orders to her other companions who quickly comply.
Within an hour, the carriage pulled over to the side of the road and camp was made. The horses were unhooked from the carries, the needed items were unloaded and the campfire was soon lit. At this point, the sun is already well over the horizon and you can clearly see the stars and the moon.
Rimuru- âRight, you guys ready?â
Students- âYes!â
The kids are in their combat gear and in formation, standing opposite of me. Hearing their reply, I start to summon their opponent for this mock battle.
Sending Ranga to fight or even myself would be overkill. I want to see them fight against something more on their level.
[Scathach]
Runes appear on the ground in a circle. With a small burst of magicules, a monster rises from the circle and turns towards the kids with barely any intelligence in its eyes.
A Hoppard. Itâs a Lizard with only two legs and moves by hopping like a Hopping Mouse, which is where its name came from. Itâs a D Ranked monster.
(A/N: Hopping + Lizard = Hoppard. I'm such a genius.)
A little hard for children, but if they work together, they should kill it with some difficulty.
However, I was greatly surprised at what happens next.
Illory and Oloy who are the fastest and are wearing the lightest gear dash towards the Hoppard, quickly becoming the focus of its attention. After they get close enough, they both turn towards its left and run.
The Hoppard turns its body towards them, snarling like a generic monster.
Actually, I ordered it to do that, but I digress.
Elizabeth- âEarth spirits, I ask thee to trap my foe in your grasp. Earth Hand!â
Elizabeth chants a spell and the ground underneath the Hoppard rises and traps it as it was turning back around towards Elizabeth due to hearing her chants.
But in the end, Anne and Ukya rush forward and kill it.
Ukya- âHaaaaah!â
Anne- âHiyah!â
Ukya jumps and pierces its back while Anne slashes its neck.
The Hoppard falls and begins to turn into magicules.
Rimuru- âHooh, not badâ¦â
Honest praise, It hasnât even been 10 seconds and yet, the monster is dead. I can see why Jeff is quite proud of his students.
The kids gather back together and celebrate among themselves for a bit.
Rimuru- âRight, some tips. Illory, Oloy, both of you were good decoys, but itâs not exactly a decoy if you both run in the same direction together. Elizabeth, magic is more about the imaging you have in your mind, so learn to silent cast so you donât draw attention. And finally, Ukya and Anne, donât fucking shout as you charge.â
I honestly donât have much of an idea of what advice to give, so I just pointed out something they did and made it seem like they did it wrong. I also tried to make it sound convincing.
Except for the shouting bit. Even I know only protagonists are allowed to do that without any repercussion. If normal people make a habit of that, theyâll die.

A/N: If you guys are struggling with remembering who's who, you dont have to worry. They aren't important characters (unfortunately) and I probably wont mention them again after this.
MC: Damn, really? I kind of like these kids.
AN: They beat you 13 times in Uno.
