Chapter 106
Preston slammed right into the butler. The massive impact twisted the butlerâs face with pain, bending him over at the waist, and he knelt there on the ground for ages before he could get up.
Preston didnât hit the pillar, but he staggered back quite a few steps, dizzy and disoriented for a while, before finally crashing to the ground and passing out.
Years of prison life had taken a toll on Prestonâs physical condition.
âDad- Letitia sprinted over, âDad, wake up, donât scare me, I canât lose you!â
Preston slowly opened his eyes, his lips trembling as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, no sound came out
Letitia was freaked out
Mrs. Ramirez, donât⦠donât worry,â the butler struggled to his feet, âMr. Sanders is fine, probably just a slight concussion, heâll be alright after a couple of days of restâ
Letitia finally breathed a sigh of relief, âButler, thank you, really, thank you so muchâ¦â
She wasnât sure how to express her gratitude, after all, the butler had saved her fatherâs life.
âNo worries, Mrs. Ramirez, as long as Mr. Sanders is okay.â
Letitia cleaned her tears and looked up at Elgin who had been standing by the whole time, watching the whole drama unfold like a
spectator.
He was tall and dignified. Next to him, Letitia felt like a clown.
Take my dad back, she said, âI promise you, Iâll apologize to Shela⦠until she forgives me!â
Elgin looked at the butler, âYou heard her, get on it.â
âYes, Mr. Ramirez.â
A few bodyguards lifted Preston into the car and took him back to prison.
Watching the car disappear from sight, Letitiaâs heart clenched tightly, unable to calm down.
âAlways have to learn the hard way, donât you? Gotta hit rock bottom before you start looking up,â Elgin remarked coolly, âLetitia, why bother?â
She turned her head to look at
him.
âWhy bother?â Letitia replied, âShould a person never resist under oppression, just take it lying down like a puppet? Resistance might be futile, but without it, thereâs definitely no chance. You have to fight for yourself!â
Elginâs lips curled into a mocking smile, âHow many times have you fought, and what have you actually gained, huh?â
She bit her lip hard.
âMore torment,â Elgin said, âLetitia, youâre really something.â
He turned and walked towards the Ferrari parked in the garden, âGet in.â
The hospital.
As soon as she heard familiar footsteps outside the door, Shela immediately changed from her relaxed posture, messed up her hair, and pretended to be weak and despondent.
Soon after, Elgin entered the room.
âMr. Ramirez. Shela slowly sat up from the bed, and upon seeing Letitia behind him, her emotions surged, âWhy is she here!â
Letitia didnât utter a word.
Shela pointed at her, âGet out, I donât want to see you! Letitia, youâre the murderer of my child, youâll get whatâs coming to you! Leave!â Elgin frowned slightly.
âMr. Ramirez, Iâve been having nightmares every night, dreaming of our child, he was crying and asking me why I didnât protect him. Every time I wake up, my pillow is soaked with tears.
Especially when I think about how Letitiaâs child is safe in her womb, I canât stand it, itâs so unfairâ¦â Shelaâs cries filled the room. (etitio spoke emotionlessly, âYes, youâre innocent, and youâre heartbroken. Iâm here to apologize.
Sheta was taken aback. Oh, sheâs willing to apologize now? She wouldnât bend a knee at the beginning! Whatâs changed?
Sevels quickly realized, heh, just because Letitia apologizes, does that mean shell accept it?
No way!
âI donât accept your apology,â Shela said, âLeave, Letitia, I donât want to see you, get out!â
She started throwing whatever was nearby at Letitia.
First, it was pillows, clothes, and the like.
Seeing they did little damage, Shela looked around and grabbed a glass from the bedside table.
*Letitia, you should just die, never show your face to me again!â
She huried it with force, but Letitia quickly dodged. The glass flew past her with a whoosh, shattered against the wall, and exploded into fragments.
As it broke, the shards flew, one slicing across Letitiaâs cheek.
A thin cut appeared, and blood, slowly seeping out.
Letitia touched her face, that stung a bit
But Shela didnât stop there, still tossing things at her, âLetitia, give me back my child, I hate you, I despise you!â
What a shrew. Letitia couldnât be bothered to argue with her, she just ducked behind Elgin.
âThrow away, smash away, do whatever you want. Elgin, with his towering height, could shield me perfectlyâ Letitia thought.
âAh! Seeing this, Shela screamed in frustration.
âThatâs enough, youâve just had a miscarriage, you need to rest,â Elgin finally said, âLetitia knows sheâs wrong, and sheâs here to apologize.â
âHeh, apologize? Her knees wouldnât bend even with my dad pressuring her! Why the sudden change of heart today?â
Letitia peeked out from behind Elgin, âBecause your child is gone, and mine is still here. On that account, I donât mind admitting my fault.â
âYou, you are evil!â
âSorry,â Letitia said, âWhen I fell, you kindly tried to help me, and ended up tumbling down the stairs with me. Itâs all my fault, youâre so kind, pure, innocent, and helpful, you donât deserve this pain.â
âThatâs not an apology! Thereâs no sincerity!â
âIâve detailed the whole incident, admitted where I was wrong, arenât you satisfied? Letitia asked, âWhen I fell, I couldnât control my strength, how was I to know youâd try to help me, it was just a split-second thing.â
Shela bit her teeth, âYouâre not even a bit sincere in your apology!â
âIâm standing right here, isnât that enough?â
âHmph, I didnât hear it!â
Letitia cleared her throat and apologized again, âIâm sorry, Shela, it was totally on me, and youâre innocent. You and Elgin are young and healthy, once youâre back in tip-top shape, you guys will have kids again, as many as you want. Go for it, the more the merrier, right? But seriously, nowâs not the best time to have a bun in the oven, especially since you havenât officially joined the Ramirez clan yet. No ring, no strings itâs not gonna sound too hot if word gets out. Anyway, weâve got all the time in the world, and you will become Mrs.
â
Ramirez sooner or later So please spare yourself some trouble and donât hate me so much, okay?â
Shelaâs face turned sourer by the second. Even Elgin couldnât help but purse his lips after hearing that.
You could say it was an apology â Letitia seemed to have come with all sincerity.
But then again, it didnât really hit the right note, something was off⦠yet you couldnât quite put your finger on what was wrong with it.
