Chapter 114
Mark was gushing over Shelaâs hand, non-stop admiration, âHow much is this worth⦠Not just valuable, but a token of Mr. Ramirezâs affection, a treasure that even Letitia doesnât have!â
Those words gave her a bit of comfort, but she couldnât help but think about Elginâs attitude.
âMaybe Mr. Ramirez is dealing with some stuff, and in a bad mood,â Mark consoled her, âDonât go getting mad over every little thing. Look, the situation is still swinging our way!â
âPift, Dad, itâs been ages and we still havenât managed to take care of Letitiaâs kid, talk about a cat with nine lives!â
Itâs like, time and time again, Letitia just waltzes through danger unscathed!
Just thinking about it gets her blood boiling!
âThese things canât be rushed. Mark replied, âI mean, I didnât see it coming either. You went as far as dragging Letitia down with you, and yet her kidâs still kicking. She really does have dumb luck.â
Shela folded her arms, âWhatever, I wonât forgive her, not unless her kid is gone too. As long as I keep my lips zipped and play pity in front of Mr. Ramirez, I donât believe Letitia can keep up her tough act forever!â
âRight, take it step by step. Anyway, she doesnât know who the father of that child really is.â
Mark, while saying this, took off the ring, clearly besotted with it.
Heâs never seen such a big diamond in his life, and now it belonged to his daughter!
âShela, do you wear it every day?â
âYeah, itâs a real head-turner, Shela said with pride plastered on her face, âEvery time I lift my hand to flip my hair, itâs like a blinding light show for everyone else!â
*Maybe keep it on the down-low, itâs worth a fortune. You never know, robbers or thieves mightâ¦â
âIâm not scared, anyone who dares to steal from me is on a one-way street to their grave. Mr. Ramirez wonât let them off easy!â
Shelaâs show-off nature, not wearing that ring? That would be worse than death for her.
Shela took the ring from Mark and slipped it back on, admiring it non-stop.
âHowâs your injury? Mark asked, âMustâve hurt, tumbling down the stairs like thatâ
âHurts like I fell apart, my kneeâs still bruised up.â
âPoor baby, my girl went through a lot.
Shela replied, âJust bummed I didnât get what I wanted. Dad, tell me, if I, a normal person, can barely handle it, hurting for days, then how on earth could a pregnant woman just be okay?â
âAlright, alright, donât get down in the dumps, go shopping, spend some money, just use Mr. Ramirezâs card. Iâll figure something out for the rest, donât you fret, Shelaâ
Mark had to really sweet-talk and coax before Shelaâs smile returned
Little did the father-daughter duo know their whole conversation was recorded
Every single word, clear as day
At the Jewelry Department of the Ramirez Group, Samson was discussing work matters with Letitia.
Letitia listened attentively, âMr. Stewart, got it, Iâm on board.â
âYeah yeah, no rush, take it easy, youâre pregnant after all.â
Thanks for the concern, Mr. Stewart.â
Samson cracked a smile. âYou being all formal with me, Iâm not thrilled about thatâ
Letitia smiled back. Just then, she looked up and saw Vidonia walking in with a bouquet of sunflowers.
âWhoa. Vidonia got flowers?â Letitia teased, âI wonder who sent her those?â
While che spoke, she sneakily glanced at Samsonâs expression.
Sure enough, Samson who was just cheerful a moment ago, had now cooled off a bit.
Letitia deliberately added, âVidoniaâs young, attractive, and successful, having admirers is only natural, right Mr. Stewart?â
Samson pursed his lips, and it took him a while to squeeze out, âWith that lemper of hers, how many guys can put up with that?â
There who like her will put up with her.â
âHow gentle and kind do you need to accommodate her.â
Letitia blinked, âMr Stewart, youâre such a gentleman, why not give it a shot?â
âPsh Samson said. âIâm a dashing young man. I like playing around, and Iâm not looking for anything serious.â
âDonât miss your shot⦠When Vidonia is swept off her feet by another man, youâll be regretting!â
âMe, regret? Whatâs there to regret?â Samson was all talk, but clearly miffed, he strode over to Vidonia.
âHey,â he asked, âwhere did you get those flowers?â
Vidonia looked at him, âNone of your business.
âDuning work, why arenât you focusing on your job, instead of gallivanting around?â
Vidonia looked puzzled. âI was just at the front desk. I wasnât gallivanting aroundâ
Samson with a stem face, âWho sent them?â
âIâ¦â She was about to answer when she snorted, âDoes it matter who? Whatâs important is how gorgeous this bouquet of sunflowers is, bursting with life*
He scoffed, âThe guy who sends sunflowers really has no taste.â
âSure sure, as if Mr. Stewartâs taste is any better.â
âVidonia, you really need to up your game,â Samson crossed his arms, a casual yet concerned look on his face, âAs a friend, I can vet them for you, after all, men know men bestâ
Vidonia rolled her eyes and walked past him, âNo thanks.â
She approached Letitia and handed over the sunflowers. âHere.â
âFor me?â Letitia pointed at herself
âYeah, theyâre for you,â Vidonia said. âThe cardâs still on it, I didnât peek.â
What? These sunflowers were for her?
â
Letitia took them in surprise, opened the card, and read âGet well soon, from Neil.â
âWho is it?â Vidonia leaned in, âWhich of your admirers?â
Letitia quickly closed the card, âItâs from Neil.â
âHeâs quite thoughtful.â
Letitia, looking at the vibrant sunflowers, felt increasingly grateful for Neil.
Theyâve only met a few times, but he had helped her big time. And now, he had sent flowers to wish her well.
Meanwhile, Samsonâs expression gradually relaxed, as he breathed a sigh of relief.
False alarm. He really thought someone had eyes for Vidonia, the tigress.
But then again, why the heck was he all wound up?
Samson chuckled to himself and turned to head back to the office.
âDoes he have some kind of issue or what?â Vidonia watched his retreating figure. âDid this bouquet rub him the wrong way or something?â
Letitia burst out laughing, âIs being jealous considered an illness?â
*Jealous? Neil gave you flowers, whatâs he got to be jealous about? Wait, does he like⦠uh⦠no, that doesnât add up.â
Vidonia was confused.
Bent over laughing, Letitia said, âVidonia, is there a chance Samson got jealous over the wrong thing and is now mad at himself?â
Vidonia was even more confused, âHuh? What does that mean? I donât get it!â
âThey really are beautiful, bursting with life and hope, Letitia said as she placed the sunflowers in the office break room âLet everyone see them, itâll brighten their mood a bit.â
