Right after the meeting ended, Vidonia, who had been waiting outside for ages, charged in.
Samson nearly jumped out of his skin. âWhatâs up? Why the panic face?â
âMr. Ramirez didnât show up at the office?â
âYeah, so? Why are you tracking his every move?â
Vidonia started stamping her feet in frustration, âLetitia didnât come to the office either! These two going
MIA at the same time spells trouble!
âWhat?â
âWhat am I gonna do, what am I gonna do, Vidonia was on the verge of tears, âthis is bad, Iâm worried
about Letitia. Samson, can you please snoop around and find out whatâs up?â
Normally, these two are like cats and dogs, always at each otherâs throats.
But when push comes to shove, they can team up and fight the good fight.
Especially⦠a womanâs tears always work on a man.
Vidoniaâs usually all rough and tumble, doesnât sweat the small stuff, but now sheâs about to burst into
tears, eyes all red and puffy, it just melted Samsonâs heart.
âSure, sure, sure,â he quickly reassured her, âdonât cry, itâs not the end of the world.â
âIt is a big deal I have this gut feeling! Something is happening!â
While Samson was comforting her, he dialed up Ivory Towers.
When the butler laid out the whole story, Samson was gobsmacked, âHospital? Abortion?â
Vidonia nearly lost her footing from the shock. Samsonâs quick reflexes caught her, âCareful.â
âMy godson. oh, heavens, Vidonia turned tail and bolted for the door, âIâm gonna kill Elgin!!â
âVidonial Vidonia!â Samson hurried after her.
Outside the hospital room.
Vidonia was like a bat out of hell trying to get in, but a bodyguard blocked her way.
âSorry, without Mr. Ramirezâs say-so, no one is allowed in there.â
âMove it! Elgin!â Vidonia shouted at the top of her lungs, âYou son of a gun, come out here!â
Samson rushed to cover her mouth, âCalm down⦠thatâs Elgin.â
Vidonia dodged him, mumbling, âMmm⦠Of course I know⦠mmm thatâs Elgin!â
âShh, shh, shh, donât rush things.â
âPeopleâs lives are at stake! How can I not rush?â
âMaking a scene wonât solve anything Samson tried to calm her down, âLet me think of something, just
chillâ¦â
Vidonia pushed him aside, âBy the time you come up with something, itâll be too late. I need to see
Letitia now!â
The commotion finally drew Elgin out. He shut the hospital room door and strode over with a frosty
expression, âWhatâs all the noise about?â
âOh, look whoâs come out of his shell!â Vidonia said, âWhereâs Letitia? Howâs the baby?â
Elginâs face was a calm mask, âThatâs none of your business.â
âHow is it not my business!â
âWatch your status, Vidonia!â
Vidonia was livid, âI know my place! Iâm Letitiaâs friend, her kidâs godmother, and an employee of the
Ramirez Group! If youâre ticked off, fire me now, whatâs the big deal!*
âYou think I wonât fire you?â
Then do it! Iâm not scared of you!â
Samson, seeing the situation spiral, quickly stepped between them, âCome on, both of you, letâs keep
the peace for my sake, alright?â âWhat standing do you have?â
âWhat standing do you have?â
They both said in unison.
Samson was speechless. Playing peacemaker sure is tough!
Samson changed the subject. âGin, you didnât come to the office today because Letitia, sheâ¦â
âShe just had an abortion, sheâs weak, Iâm staying with her.â
Vidonia roared, âYou forced her, didnât you! Letitia loves that baby, how could she agree to an abortion!â
1 forced herâ Elgin admitted candidly. âSo what?â
âAh, you scumbag mmmâ¦Samson clamped his hand over her mouth again.
âTake her away, Elgin ordered with a dark look. âSamson, if this happens again, you wonât be able to
protect her either!*
With that, he turned and walked away, his figure receding into the distance.
Vidonia kept mumbling something, muffled and indistinct, but definitely not sweet nothings.
She lashed out at Elginâs retreating back with fists and kicks, and Samson had to use all his strength to
pull her away
âSamson! Whose side are you on?â At the hospital entrance, Vidonia shrugged him off, âLook what
Elgin did, thatâs not human! Worse than a beast!â
âItâs done, yelling at him wonât change anything.â
âHow can it not? Heâs done the unthinkable, he deserves a good scolding!â
Samson replied, âItâll just drag you down too.â
âI canât worry about that right now! Vidoniaâs eyes welled up again, âImagine how heartbroken Letitia
will be when she wakes up and finds out about the baby and sheâs all alone.â
As she spoke, the tears started falling for real.
No one knew better than Vidonia how tough Letitiaâs life was
Even now, Vidonia couldnât accept the fact that the baby was really gone.
âSamson, tell me, is this just a nightmare? Letitiaâs just a bit under the weather, she didnât have an
abortion.â She blinked back tears, her eyes misty. âElgin canât be that cruel, night?â
Samson looked at her tearful face, unable to bring himself to tell her the truth.
Looks like Elgin did everything, night or wrong, all in one fell swoop.
Vidonia covered her face, wanting to cry but not in front of Samson.
âLetâs look on the bright side. Samson offered her a tissue, âDonât be so pessimistic.â
Vidonia didnât take it
Samson had to wipe her tears himself, âStop crying. Even if itâs the worst-case scenario, what you need
to do is calm down and think about how you can really help Letitia. Ranting at Elgin is just blowing off
steam, itâs pointless
âIt feels good to blow off steam!â
âBut if you leave the Ramirez Group, wonât Letitia be even more isolated there?â
Vidonia had a moment of clarity, âRight.â
âAnd besides,â Samson went on, âif you end up at loggerheads with Elgin, Letitia will have to step in
and cover for you. Isnât that just asking her to bite off more than she can chew?â
Makes sense.
Vidonia was swayed, gradually calming down, and she stopped crying.
âSo now.. what do we do?â she asked. âSamson, I donât know who else to turn to but you.â
That line was music to Samsonâs ears, stroking his male ego big time.
it gave him a warm fuzzy feeling of being needed.
âWait, Samson said, âjust hang tight for a bit.â
Vidonia nodded. âOkayâ
âAny updates or problems, Iâll fill you in and figure something out,â Samson assured her, looking into
her eyes. âDo you trust me?â
âYeah! fruct youâ
Lets fit the road, back to the office.â
