Elgin didnât respond.
âFine, I want to see Shela croaking loud and clear to bite the dust with my raw eyes! She snatched
what was mine, and now sheâs gotta pay back double! And you,â Letitia looked at Elgin, âyou should
feel a thousand, no, ten thousand times worse than me! If the kid was still around, there was still a
chance⦠a freaking chanceâ¦â
But now, only hate and pain were left.
Love and hate along with right and wrong all intertwinedâ¦
To be honest, the most innocent was the unborn kid.
âWhy did it have to be like this⦠to play me like that?â Elgin muttered to himself, âFrom start to finish, I
was just barking up the wrong tree.â
Elgin turned his back, unable to face Letitia.
The pain, rage, guilt in his heart⦠he had to shoulder them alone.
It was his doing and mess to clean up!
Letitiaâs tears had dried up. When you were that heartbroken, you canât could not even cry.
She stared numbly out the window.
Before long, there was a clamor of footsteps outside.
âWhat the hell⦠Easy, let go!â Shelaâs cursing voice came in, âAre you blind, treating me like this?!â
âIâll get Mr. Ramirez to fire all of you!â
The butler was the first to enter and said, âMr. Ramirez, weâve brought her.â
Elgin silently gestured with his hand.
âMr. Ramirez, your people are so rough,â Shela complained, âthey donât know their strength.â
She always had no clue, but Mark as an old fox got a word in quick, âEnough, nowâs not the time to
squabble about this! Look at Mr. Ramirez⦠somethingâs off.â
Shela looked up and glanced at Elgin. At the sight of Letitia with her red-rimmed eyes, Shela thought
they were still at it over the medication, feeling a bit smug.
âMr. Ramirez, donât bother arguing with her.â Shela sidled up to Elgin, taking his arm, âIf she wonât have
your baby, I will. I promise Iâll be more obedient and more understanding than her, Iâll do anything you
say⦠Ah!â
Before she could finish, Elgin shot up his hands and clamped down on her throat!
Shela looked at him in terror, âMr. Ramirezâ¦â
That night, in the hotel room, I said something to you,â Elgin glared at her, âdo you remember?â
â1,1â
Elgin roared, âDo you remember?!â
Shelaâs eyes darted about, âI canât really recall, Mr. Ramirez. It was such a mess, I was scared.â
âThat important, and you forgot?â
âHeh, Mr. Ramirez, you said a lot of things, not just one⦠I remember some, forgot others.â
Elgin flung her aside and grabbed the geezer in a swoop.
m asking you, that night, who was the woman Mark sent to my room?*
Elginâs voice was fierce as he pointed at Letitia, âHer?â
His hand shifted, pointing at Shela, âOr her!?â
The geezer hadnât expected this to come back up.
âMr. Ramirez, youâve already punished me, Iâve been minding my business and havenât done anything
wrongâ¦â he stammered, âThis has nothing to do with me, I really donât know anythingâ¦â
âAnswer me, who was the woman that night?!â
The stunned geezer tried to step up.
XF < I
At the sight of this, Mark felt something was wrong.
He quickly nudged Shela and shouted, âItâs her! The woman you want is her! My daughter, Shela. I
reluctantly gave her to you. Have you forgotten?â
Shela also realized and nodded repeatedly, âYes! Could it be that youâre getting too old to be good at
faces?â
Mark and Shela felt a strong sense of crisis. For no apparent reason, why would Mr. Ramirez suddenly
start seeking the truth?
They absolutely couldnât let Mr. Ramirez know that the woman from that night was Letitia⦠Otherwise,
everything they had done and possessed during this time would all vanish into thin air!
The geezer hesitated.
Elgin tightened his grip on his collar, âWhose words are you going to heed? Do you understand?â
His gaze was incredibly sharp, and the geezer, wary of his identity, nodded, âOf course⦠Mr. Ramirez,
I listen to you and follow your orders.â
âThen answer me, is that woman Shela or Letitia?â
Shela tried to speak up, but a look from Elgin was all it took for the bodyguard to come over and silence
her.
Letitia watched all this with a detached gaze. For her, it was all expected.
She had met the geezer before and he definitely knew her.
The fake could not become real.
âThat night⦠the woman Mark brought was, was her,â the geezer pointed at Letitia, âI remember it
clearly and canât be wrong. She even kicked me hard and nearly crippled meâ¦â
As soon as he finished speaking, Elgin let go.
The geezer fell to the floor, then quickly knelt properly.
âMr. Ramirez, Iâm telling the truth, not a single lie,â he said, âAs for Mark and his daughter, I donât know
anything and I wasnât involved!â
He was quick to distance himself, but Elgin wasnât about to let him off the hook!
âKicked you? That was being lenient/ Elginâs eyes flashed with a chilling intent, âDid you touch her?â
âI didnât get the chance toâ¦
Elgin snorted coldly, âBut you looked at her with intentions. Those eyes of yours will be destroyed.â
The geezer turned deathly pale, begging for mercy, âMr. Ramirez, please, Mr. Ramirezâ¦â
âTake him away!â
âYes, Mr. Ramirez.
The geezerâs screams echoed through the halls of Ivory Towers.
Mark and Shela went pale with fear.
It was over, the very thing they dreaded most had happened!
âMr. Ramirez, I, Iâ¦â Shela stammered, âDonât listen to that geezerâs nonsense⦠It was me that night, it
couldnât be wrong!â
Elgin stared her down coldly, making her skin crawl.
âDad,â Shela was terrified, âwhat do we doâ¦â
Elgin kicked the coffee table over, and the crash of things breaking was deafening.
His eyes seemed to devour someone, âYouâre on deathâs door but still trying to squirm your way out?â
Shela was suddenly at a loss for words, and Mark was gobsmacked.
It was all over, totally toast.
At that moment, Letitia slowly stood up and walked over to them.
âWhatâs stolen must eventually be returnedâ¦â she said, âShela, you took my place, basked in luxury
and glory for months. I guess you could say it was worth it for you in this lifetime.â
Shela no longer had her usual swagger. She looked like a mess, like a rooster that had lost a fight.
Letitia laughed mockingly, âI took on the dangers and lost my innocence for you. And you? Elgin treated
you like the apple of his eye and would give everything you wantâ¦. all thanks to your dear dad, Mark.â
