Letitiaâs got it made because sheâs Elginâs apple of his eye, you know!
Was Vidonia on the same page as Letitia?
With Vidoniaâs temper, she could stir up some serious trouble any day now, and Samson wouldnât be
able to save her skin!
âEmployees involved in the making and marketing of the wedding rings will get double overtime pay,â
Elgin piped up, âas compensation.â
âMr. Ramirez is one tough nut to crack, isnât he? One second heâs planning a romance for Mrs. Ramirez
thatâll make the whole town green with envy, the next heâs pumping the brakes on the divorce. Mr.
Ramirez got new flame?â
Samson seriously wanted to gag Vidonia right then and there.
The room was dead silent.
Elgin coolly replied, âNo new flame. Itâs always been the old one.â
It started with Letitia â it was still her, and it would be her down the line. That was not changing.
âHa ha haâ¦â Samson couldnât help but brown-nose, âMr. Ramirez is like a one-in-a-million guy, a real
Husband of the Year. Good luck finding someone as devoted and attentive as him!â
Vidoniaâs sleeve was about to be torn off by Samsonâs grip.
To save her shirt, she clamped up.
But then, a loud and clear âTchâ landed in everyoneâs ears in the conference room.
All eyes swiveled to the source.
Letitia.
âTch,â she scoffed again, âThe devoted and attentive man you find might just turn out to be a ghost.â
Vidonia seriously wanted to stand up and give Letitia a standing ovation!
That was a climax!
Letitia just smirked, âGood guys are like ghosts. No oneâs ever seen one, but plenty of people believe
theyâre out there.â
Elgin tapped his fingertips lightly on the table surface again and again with a thudding sound.
It felt oppressive.
Just when everyone thought Elgin would blow his top, they heard him say, âFair point.â
Even Samson couldnât help but cough, âAhem, ahem!â
âRough around the edges, but it makes sense. Designer Sanders sure has a way with words,â Elgin
commented, âLetâs get back to the meeting.â
Letitia kept her head down, looking completely unfazed.
A male colleague couldnât help but whisper to her, âYouâve got guts.â
She just shrugged, âNot a big deal. In the worst case, I quit.â
âYou know how hard it is to get into the Ramirez Group, with the highest pay around, and you donât
care?â
Letitia just chuckled. Letâs focus on the meeting.â
What she was unaware of was that Elgin had seen their entire whispered exchange. His eyes narrowed
slightly
The meeting dragged on for over an hour.
When it ended, Letitia was packing up and accidentally knocked over a water cup next to her.
Water splashed out, drenching the male colleagueâs clothes.
He yelped and jumped up.
âSo sorry,â Letitia rushed to apologize, âMy bad, let me wipe it off for you.â
She quickly grabbed some tissues to dab at the spill, but the guy backed away, âNo need, I got it.â
âReally sorry.â
âItâs fineâ¦â
He snatched the tissues and bolted.
If he didnât make a run for it⦠Mr. Ramirezâs glare could kill!
Too suffocating! He did nothing wrong, but better to make a quick exit!
Letitia watched his retreating back, totally puzzled.
Why the panic?
She was puzzled.
She looked down and noticed her papers were soaked too.
Letitia silently cleaned up and left for the restroom.
Standing in front of the mirror, she looked up and shrieked, âAh!â
Reflected in the mirror was Elginâs figure.
This is the ladiesâ room! How did he get in here?
Elgin stood behind her, nonchalant, âNeed a hand?â
âElgin!â Letitia hit her limit, âYouâve been tailing me all morning, and now you follow me into the
restroom, are you a creep or what!â
âIâm your husband.â
She gritted her teeth, âDonât forget we signed a divorce agreement! It becomes effective as soon as the
time is
up!â
Elgin moved closer, âAnd donât forget until the divorce is official, weâre still married.â
âYou-â
As Elgin closed in, Letitia was forced to back up until she hit the sink.
Elgin easily scooped her waist into his embrace, âLetty,â
Last night, he had called her that quietly from the balcony. Now⦠she heard it loud and clear.
A feeling surged in her heart.
Lettyâ¦
âNo need to be so chummy, Letitia said, âI have a first and last name.â
Has no one ever called you that?â
As much as she hated to admit it, she replied, âMhm.â
Her parents called her Letitia, and so did Vidonia.
Letty was too intimate⦠like whispers between lovers entwined.
âThen from now on, that nickname Is mine alone, and Iâm the only one who can call you that,â Elgin
said, âGot
Letitia pushed against his chest, âElgin, Iâve never seen anyone as domineering and unreasonable as
you!â
And there he was, assigning her a pet name that only he could use.
Why the heck?
âNow you have,â Elgin said, âLetty, Letty.â He repeated it over and over.
Her resistance was wearing thin with every husky and magnetic utterance.
She bit back, âGet out before someone sees⦠Arenât you embarrassed?â
âWho would dare come in?â
Letitia widened her eyes, You mean people saw you when you came in? You just waltzed right in?â
Yes.â
Letitia didnât know how to react. Did Elgin even have a shred of shame?
âWhatâs so important that you had to come to the womenâs restroom to tell me?â Letitia asked, âCouldnât
it wait
until I was out?â
âI couldnât wait.â
She pushed him again, âWhat is it then!â
The more she pushed, the closer he got, until his chest was pressed firmly against hers.
âLetty,â he asked, âwhy are you smiling at other men?â
Letitia was utterly confused, âSmile? Who did I smile at?â
The guy sitting next to you during the meeting.â
Thatâs my colleague from the design department!â Letitia exclaimed, âWe see each other all the time,
whatâs wrong with a smile?â
âDonât you dare flash a smile at other guys, Iâve warned you.â
Letitia was totally speechless, âI wasnât even laughing much! Itâs just normal chit-chat, okay?â
Elgin was so freaking jealous!
Crazy much?
Sheâs never seen a guy so obsessed with controlling her!
Thatâs still a no-go,â Elgin said. âYouâve never chatted me up so nicely.â
Letitia gritted her teeth, âI can be all smiles and sunshine with any guy because theyâve never hurt me
and never forced me. But you? Elgin, you know exactly what youâve done to me!â
His eyes darkened. He was the one who would never earn her sweet smiles.
