Chapter 28
Letitia finally Letitia understood Shelaâs ulterior motive By having her dress, Shela could leave her with nothing to wear. No way Letitia could show her face at the event now; she could either hide in the bathroom or just leave.
She was already tucked away in a corner, minding her own business. Why couldnât Shela just back off?
âSorry, Ms. Wardâ Letitia cracked a smile, sneering, âYouâre kinda on the short side, and my size⦠it ainât gonna fit you. That dress would be dragging on the floor on you,â Letitia shrugged, âWish I could help you out, but you canât pull it off.â
âYou bitch
âWipe it off, and if that doesnât work, Iâll go to the restroom. Iâll wash it for you and blow it dry.â
Like Shela would go for that She was done talking. She just reached for Letitiaâs dress, âYouâre giving your dress to me, whether you like it or not!â
That pink dress was obviously a gift from Mr. Ramirez.
In Shelaâs mindset, Letitia, having been in a madhouse, was a low-life and thus, undeserving of flaunting such an extravagant garment!!
âWhat the hell, Shela!â
âIf you wonât take it off, guess Iâll have to lend a hand!â
In a public place like this, if Letitia got disheveled, itâd be a major face-plant. Whereâs her pride supposed to go? Shela was playing dirty!
Right then, Vidonia stormed in and blocked Shela, âWhoa, whoa, whatâs going on? You think you can just swipe her dress in broad daylight?â
With Vidonia pitching in, Shela was no match all by herself.
And Vidonia gave Shela a shove that nearly sent her stumbling.
âWho the hell are you!â Shela barked, âYou dare to push me?â
âMy nameâs Vidonia!â
âIâm warning you, stay outta my way!â
Vidonia chuckled, âWell, Iâm all up in it now, so what!â
She
put Letitia behind her, just like back in their school days when sheâd step up if anyone bullied her.
âLetitia, you okay? Fix your dress, quick.â
Letitia quickly fixed her dress, clutching her chest, âIâm fine.â
âI was nearly too late, youâd have been humiliated!â Vidonia asked, âWhoâs this?â
Letitia had to spill it, âSheâs Elginâs date.â
âNo freakinâ way!â
Shela huffed, âNow you know who I am, right? Make yourself scarce if you know whatâs good for you. Iâm only after Letitia!â
âPssh, feeling all high and mighty, mistress?â Vidonia rolled her eyes, âYouâre not more than a whore!â
Shela was livid, âWhat did you say?!â
âWhere did that attitude come from? Itâs you who should be apologizing to Letitia.â
âMe, apologize to her? No chance!â Shela snapped, âAlright, Vidonia? Better hope our paths donât cross again!â
Letto quickly interjected, âItâs not Vidoniaâs problem Shela. This is between us
âHey, itâs buzzing in hereâ Thatâs when Samson rocked up. âWhatâs going on?â
Vidonia, not in the best mood, replied. âRan into a mad dog!â
Samson looked at Shela âIsnât this Ginâs plus one? Whatâs got you so fired up? If thereâs an issue with Vidonia, sheâs under me Come to me
âAnd you are **
âSamsonâ he said, âVice President of the Ramirez Groupâ
With Samson stepping in, Shela couldnât throw her weight around anymore
âMr. Stewart she switched to a polite face instantly. âLetitia stained my dress.â
âWhere? Let me see
âRight here. huh?â Shela looked down to find nothing Whatever was there got rubbed off in the scuffle. It was just a smudge of cream, Shela was making a big deal out of it
âAre my eyes deceiving me? Samson spread his hands. âI donât see itâ
Vidonia chimed in, âMr. Stewart, your eyes are just fine. Itâs her heart thatâs got problems!â
Shela was red with embarrassment
Why was Letitia always so lucky to have people helping her?
Grinding her teeth, Shela could only skulk away.
âDonât goâ said Samson, âLook, here comes Gin. Letâs get his fair say.â
Elgin had appeared out of nowhere.
Hands in his trouser pockets, tall and cool, his gaze icy as it swept over everyone
âMr. Ramirez!â Seeing him, Shela rushed over, âYou gotta help me.â
He simply said. âThe auctionâs about to start.â
âMy dressâ
âTomorrow, Iâll have the manager send over all their latest collections to youâ
Shela felt like sheâd regained some face, grinning. âThanks, Mr. Ramirez!â
She glared triumphantly at Letitia and strutted off on Elginâs arm.
âYou damnâ¦â Vidonia looked ready to charge
âVidonia,â Letitia shook her head, âDonât.â
âLetitia, stop letting people walk all over you! You seem to have forgotten that youâre Mrs. Ramirez!!â
How could she allow a mistress to treat her like that? If this were Vidonia, sheâd have made sure Shela got a good beaten!
âEarlier⦠thanks, Letitia said, âBut next time, donât be so rash. Shela holds grudges, sheâll come after you.â
Vidonia stomped, âFine, my bad for helping you!â
She stormed off, and Samson called after her, âHey, donât get so worked up.â
âIâm not Vidonia crossed her arms. âMr. Stewart, do me a favor, will ya?â
âThereâs a fee.â
n trest you to a month of meals.
Santon nodded. âYou got it?
Vidoria sad, wanna figure out whatâs the big secret with stitia
Chapter 28
âLeave it
it to me.
âYou sure you can handle it? Vidonia sounded skeptical âIf you come up empty handed, youâre buying me dinner for a year!â
Samson was brimming with confidence, âIâm actually pretty curious myself about the whole Gin and Letitia thing. This gives me the perfect excuse to dig around and satisfy my curiosityâ
Vidonia and he high-fived, âDeal!â
Just then, the lights at the venue started to dim, and all the spotlights were trained on the stage.
The auction was about to begin.
Thank you all for attending this charity auction, the host said. âThe proceeds from tonightâs event will all go to help those in need. And now, letâs reveal our first item up for bidding.
As the cloth was whisked away, an emerald bracelet came into everyoneâs view
It was absolutely stunning, shimmering and crystal clear.
Letitia murmured, âThatâs my motherâs braceletâ¦â
