Chapter 32
Vidonia slammed her fork down and quipped, âWhat, you again? Is being a home wrecker these days something to be proud of?â
âPlease, Iâm the future Mrs. Ramirez. Just show me some respect!â
While saying this, Shela lifted her chin towards Letitia, âDid you like my gift for you last night?â
âYou are shameless.â
Shela laughed triumphantly, âJust a little warning. Be nicer to me from now on, got it, Letitia?â
Letitia didnât want to engage with her, âVidonia, letâs go.â
âSure. Thereâs a yapping dog here killing my appetite.â Vidonia chimed in.
Shela casually flipped her hair to flash her emerald bracelet at Letitia and quickly covered it again with her sleeve, âDonât even dream of outshining me in this lifetime, Letitia.â
Sure enough, Letitia faltered at the sight, The braceletâ¦â
âMr. Ramirez gave it to me, Shela boasted. âHe bought it and gave it straight to me. You think youâd ever get your hands
on it?â
Letitia felt a pang but swallowed it, âNow that youâre its owner, treat it well.â
âItâs my emerald bracelet; Iâll do whatever I please with it, and even if I broke it⦠Mr. Ramirez wouldnât blame me!â
Vidonia gave her a dismissive look, Are you leaving or not? Iâm calling security. We have rules about outsiders lingering!â
âYouâ¦â
âThree, two, one, securityâ¦
âIâm going!â Shela stomped her foot and huffed off. As she passed Letitia, she made sure to give her bracelet another showy shake before strutting away.
Truth was the emerald bracelet wasnât even in Shelaâs possession. It was locked up tight in the Ivory Towersâ safe by Elgin. But Shela couldnât stand it, so she bought a fake one just to get a rise out of Letitia!
Seeing Letitia upset made her day.
âVidonia, Iâm sorry,â Letitia apologized in the hallway. âYou had to put up with this because of me.â
Vidonia, rich and fiery, wasnât one to take any nonsense.
âArenât you pissed? Vidonia shot back. âYou, Letitia, were once the Sanders familyâs princess, the most popular girl at
school. And now?â
âNow⦠just being alive isnât too bad, Letitia said, eyes downcast
âWhat exactly happened to you? Will you tell me?â
After a few seconds of silence, Letitia nodded and recounted her ordeal, leaving Vidonia red-eyed.
âItâs okay, itâs all in the past, Letitia said, cleaning her tears. âLook, Iâm still here in one piece.â
Just then, Samson emerged from the elevator and was baffled by the scene.
âWhatâs going on? Who made the tough cookie cry?â
âIt was me,â Letitia said helplessly. âMr. Stewart, sheâs all yours. Iâve got designs to work on.â
âHey, hey, hey⦠Iâm no good at comforting women!â Samson was at a loss, looking at Vidonia.
Witnessing this woman, usually far stronger than him, suddenly reduced to tears was quite unsettling.
donât cry, Samson said awkwardly, rubbing his hands together. âYouâre acting like a crybaby

âGet lost, Samsonâ
âOkay, okay, got it. How about I tell you a secret?â
Vidonja sniffled, âWhat?â
âAbout Gin and Letitia,â Samson said, eager to share, âIâve got the full scoop, took me a ton of effort!â
âNo need.â
That feeling of holding a secret with no chance to spill it⦠it was too suffocating!
âWhy not?â Samson was bursting to tell.
âLetitia just told me,â Vidonia sneered, âAll men are no good!â
Samson immediately waved his hands. âNot all men are jerks like Gin.â
âTrue, there are good men out there. But you, Samson, are definitely not one of them.â
Samson put on a hurt face
Vidonia huffed, âYou and Mr. Ramirez are so tight, you are probably same kinds: jerks!â
After one more stomp on his foot for good measure, Vidonia stormed off.
Samson protested, âIâm innocent!
He wasnât a jerk! Gin had screwed him over!
In the CEOâs office, Elgin looked towards the door, âGrandfather.â
Hawley, leaning on a cane with Phedra supporting him, said, âJust passing by to see you. This morning⦠I watched âRamirez Romanticaâs launch. Elgin, you have a head for business. I believe it will become another pillar for the Ramirez Group.â
âOf course, Iâll manage it well and lead the Ramirez Group to even greater glory.â
âSure, but itâs quite the load on just you alone. You must be tired.â
Elgin smiled slyly, âGrandfather, thereâs more to what youâre saying.â
âSince you caught on, Iâll be blunt,â Hawley said, looking at him, âyour brother will soon graduate and return. You can
hand âRamirez Romanticaâ over to him.â
âThatâs not happening.â Elgin rejected the idea without a second thought. A half-brother from a different mother? Not even a chance!
He was just Phedraâs cash cow, her precious boy!
As expected, Phedra panicked at his firm refusal, âElgin, you must give your brother a chance to show his abilities.â
âHe doesnât have the skills to manage Ramirez Romantica.â
âIf you donât give him a chance, how will you know whether heâs capable or not?â
âDonât you know what your own kid is like?â Elginâs face darkened with a chill. âHeâs nothing more than a layabout, only knowing how to enjoy himself.!â
Phedra couldnât win the argument and had to turn to Hawley for help, âWhat am I supposed to do now?â
âLetâs talk this through, Elgin, donât just shoot it down,â Hawley chimed in, âWeâre all family after all, you shouldnât hurt your familyâs feelings.â
The old man wasnât getting any younger and he longed for family harmony, with kids and grandkids crowding around him. His son had passed, but thankfully he had two grandsons left.
Especially Elgin, with his exceptional abilities and natural leadership, he was a source of great pride.
âNo Elgin was adamant, âWhether heâs looking to ride on coattails for some glory or stick his fingers in the company
se itâs not happening!â

Phedra retorted, âSo, everything about the Ramirez family has got to be clutched in your fist?â
âYes. Unless youâve got the chops to snatch it away.â Elgin gave her a frosty glance.
it was both his warning and his declaration of battle. He was crystal clear about Phedraâs sneaky little games behind the
scenes!
She was trying to get Raizel hitched to him, slipping poison into the soup she sent over every dayâ¦
âAlright, Hawley intervened, âElgin, thereâs another thing I came to talk about today. Your marriage with Letitia, itâs done whether you like it or not, and itâs time to so something.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âCarrying on the family line, of course! Youâre twenty-six, itâs time to have a kid!â
Elgin frowned. Having Letitia to bear his child? Not in a million years!
