Chapter 34
âThis is the first time âRamirez Romanticaâ is launching a new line, and itâs aimed at urban young professional women, so my design leans towards the younger crowd, specifically targeting females in their 20s to 30sâ¦â
When someoneâs In their confident field, they shine.
Throughout the meeting, Letitia was killing it with her mad skills.
âBravo!â Samson was the first to start clapping. The rest joined in with the applause. Only Elgin was looking at her, his gaze deep and unfathomable.
âTomorrow, we can start turning these sketches into actual work,â Samson said, âMr. Ramirez, any other thoughts?â
Out of the blue, the general manager chimed in, âMr. Ramirez, youâve just tied the knot, and Designer Sanders is talented. How about letting her design a wedding ring for Mrs. Ramirez?â
Elginâs face did a little dance, and Letitia was gobsmacked.
Design my own wedding ring? Youâve got to be kidding meâ¦
The general manager kept pitching. This way, we can hype up Mrs. Ramirezâs ring as a marketing stunt, plaster it everywhere, and give âRamirez Romanticaâ a fame boost! Two birds, one stone, what do you
think?â
Samsonâs mouth twitched, replying, âOnly you couldâve cooked up something like this.â
âRight, Mr. Stewan? I knew youâd be on my side!â
Samson was speechless.
Elgin was tapping his finger on the table, pondering. Finally, he said, âSureâ¦â
âNo way!â Before his words had a chance to fully echo, Letitiaâs voice of dissent cut through. All eyes immediately turned towards her.
Elginâs the big boss â his word is law. Who dares cross him? Designer Sanders surely was bold.
âI donât think itâs appropriate.â Letitia bit her lip, âMr. Ramirez has always kept a low profile, not keen on airing his private life. Now that heâs married, heâd probably want to shield his familyâs privacy even more.â
What a jokeâ¦
Not to mention itâs awkward to design her own wedding ring, but she feared that in the end, the ring she poured her heart and soul into wouldnât end up on her finger, but on Shelaâs
Elgin would give it to Shela, after all, he dotes on her that much. So, Letitia would not do it.
Elgin looked at her, his voice low, âLetitia, are you opposing me?â
There was a warning in his tone. She had no right to oppose him, especially not in the middle of a meeting, in front of all the execs.
âMr. Ramirez, I⦠Iâm afraid I wonât be able to nail it, and Mrs. Ramirez might not like it.â
âSheâll like what you design.â
âBut..
âNo buts. Elgin cut in firmly. âItâs settled.â
Letitia wanted to protest, but Samson hurriedly shot her a look.
Elgin stood up, claiming, âMeeting adjourned.â
The general manager was smug, âI made Mr. Ramirez happy and pleased Mrs. Ramirez.â
âYeah, youâre quite the smarty-pants, Samson patted his shoulder, âToo bad Mrs. Ramirez doesnât seem too thrilled.
âWhat? Mrs Ramirez already knows about this?â
Chapter 34
Without replying, Samson shrugged and left the conference room.
Elgin headed to the presidentâs office, with footsteps hurrying behind him.
Mr. Ramirez, wait up.â Letitia caught up with him, âAbout designing the ringâ¦â
âItâs done.â
Letitia looked at him, words stuck in her throat. Defying him was asking for trouble, but she really didnât want to make the ring for Shela.
âMr. Ramirez, a wedding ring is sacred, symbolizes marriage and fidelity, represents a beautiful love,â Letitia still spoke her mind, âIt canât be decided lightly, and certainly shouldnât be a marketing gimmick for Ramirez Romantica.â
Elgin raised an eyebrow, âAre you lecturing me?â
Just then, Elginâs phone rang. He took out his cell, âHello?â
âMr. Ramirez, help, come save me!â Shelaâs shrill voice came through, âThereâs a crazy woman here⦠sheâs trying to take my stuff⦠Ah! Get away!â
Elgin frowned, âWho?â
âI donât know her, she⦠she says sheâs your mother! Ah! Thatâs mine!â
Elgin strode out quickly.
Ranen looked puzzled, âWhatâs up with Mrs. Phedra and Shela?â
Letitia kept her head down, silent. Phedra was moving fast and had already found Shela.
This is going to be a show! She couldnât wait for Shela to have a taste of her own medicine.
âLetitia, Elginâs voice drifted from afar, âCome on!â
Great, now she could witness the drama unfold.
In the living room of Breezy Bay Condos.
Shela glared at Phedra, âIâve called Mr. Ramirez! Heâll be here any minute⦠and then youâre toast, pretending to be Mrs. Ramirez and trying to snatch my bracelet!â
âI am Elginâs mother, and heâll have to acknowledge that when he arrives! As for you, hand over that bracelet before I ask again!â
Phedra wanted to wrap this up quick, before Elgin showed up and made it harder to snatch the emerald bracelet.
Once it was in her hands, sheâd bolt, and even if Elgin asked for it back, she wouldnât give in!
âThis is mine!â Shela argued, âYouâre robbing me!â
âDid you pay for it? Daring to call it yours? Youâre spending my familyâs money!â Phedra charged again. But Shela guarded her wrist, where the emerald bracelet lay.
âHand it over!â Phedra certainly didnât lack a fighting spirit; her attacks were relentless.
Shelaâs wrist was turning red, close to breaking skin.
âYou crazy woman⦠Help!â Shela exclaimed, âI bought the emerald bracelet myself, and it has nothing to do with you or the Ramirez family!â
âHa, donât try to fool me!â Phedra grabbed Shelaâs wrist with one hand and yanked the bracelet off with the other.
She gleefully stuffed it into her pocket and took off without a second thought.
âStop right there, Furning, Shela chased after her, âGive it back!â
As the two souffled, Elgin showed up.
Shela immediately burst into tears and complained, âMr. Ramirez, it was her, she pretended to be your mother and stole my bracelet.â
Letitia, with her arms crossed, chimed in from the sidelines, âSheâs not pretending. Sheâs just⦠my stepmom.â
âWhat?â
Phedra clutched the emerald bracelet tightly, âElgin, you gave such a precious emerald to such a woman, itâs a waste!! wonât stand for it!â
âWhat emerald?â
âThis bracelet!â Phedra quickly flashed it for him to see.
Elgin got it in a heartbeat. âYou two are fighting over this emerald bracelet?â
âYes! Even if you gave it to Letitia, I wouldnât say a thing, but to this slut, I wonât have it!â
Shela screamed, âYouâre the slut! You as the stepmom mustâve used your wily ways to climb to the top back in the day!â
Itâs like a dog-eat-dog situation.
Elgin spoke up indifferently. âItâs a fake, and the real one is with me.â
