Chapter 35
Phedra was totally flabbergasted, âWhat?â
âFake?â Letitia was shocked too. Butâ¦Shela even wore it to show off in front of her.
Whatâs going on?
Gritting her teeth, Shela said. âYes, it was fake. Iâ¦I just bought it to mess around, as a piece of accessary!â She just wanted to flaunt it in front of Letitia, but who knew sheâd end up drawing Phedraâs attention!
Then whereâs the real one?â Phedra immediately asked, âElgin, you didnât pass it off to some side chick, did you?â
Letitia was curious too.
âItâs always been with me.â Elginâs face darkened, âHow did you find Shelaâs?â
Phedra pointed at Letitia. âShe told me! Said you gave it to another woman and even gave me the address.â
Hearing this, Shela screamed, âWell, well, so it was you! You did this on purpose!â
Letitia coolly explained, âYou were the one who said Elgin gave you the emerald bracelet, I just spilled the beans, thatâs all. Who knew you were wearing a fake?
She even breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness, it didnât end up in Shelaâs hands.
âI never said the emerald bracelet was the one Mr. Ramirez bought at the auction!â Shela squirmed, âMr. Ramirez, youâve got to back me up here!
Sharp as Elgin was, he had already figured out the whole story.
And Letitia, that cunning woman, must have used this situation against both Shela and Phedra.
âEnough,â he said sternly, âIâm not giving this emerald bracelet to anyone!â
Phedra left reluctantly.
âMr. Ramirez, Shela stomped her foot, âYou canât just let this slide.â She glared at Letitia, unwilling to let it go. She had been played and she was going to get even!
Clutching Elginâs arm, Shela said, âLetitia did it on purpose, sheâs always been out to get me. If you hadnât come in time today, who knows what that wicked stepmother wouldâve done to me! Look, I even got scratched!â
Elgin remained silent, directing only a glance at Letitia, which was enough to make her heart flutter.
Elgin usually gave in to every one of Shelaâs requests. This timeâ¦maybe he would punish her.
âMake her compensate you, Elgin said with a sly smile, âPerfect timing, sheâs designing a wedding ring⦠for you.â
Shelaâs eyes lit up, âA wedding ring?â
âYes, one that Iâll personally place on your ring finger, symbolizing marriage and fidelity. Whatever style you want, talk to Letitia directly.â
âI want diamonds! Big and sparkly ones!â Shela said excitedly. âThe more expensive the better, so eye-catching that nobody can ignore it, stunning the entire room, a priceless ring that AquaCity canât find a second of!â
Letitia clenched her teeth, âI canât design that.â
âYou have to design it,â Elgin replied, âItâs your job.â
Letitia fell silent. This man was truly ruthless, trampling over her pride time and again.
âExactly, Shela lifted her chin, acting all high and mighty, âIâll be checking in on your progress, I need to approve your designs, and youâll keep revising until Iâm happy with it!â
Eigin emphasized, âYou got that?â
Yeah.â She had no choice.

And Shelaâs taste, well, it was questionable at best. Just the description alone reeked of nouveau riche, lacking the understated luxury of old money.
She feared the final design might become a laughing stock online.
On the way back to the Ramirez Group, Letitia couldnât help but ask, âWhy are you keeping the emerald bracelet all to yourself? Are you not giving it to anyone?â
âWhat, you want it?â
âOf course, I do,â she admitted frankly, âIt belonged to my mother.â
âWell, letâs see if youâve got what it takes. Win me over and who knows, maybe one day Iâll be in a good mood and toss it
your way.â
Letitia was intrigued, âReally?â
Elgin replied solemnly, âMy word is my bond
To get her motherâs emerald bracelet back, Letitia decided to give it a shot. Butâ¦how could she possibly win over Elgin? The guy had a temper, was unpredictable, and didnât seem to have any weaknesses or soft spots.
After a long thought, Letitia sought advice from Samson. They were classmates and friends, and he had known Elgin for many years, so he definitely knew him better than she did.
âWhat does Gin like? Samson stroked his chin, âHe likes to lose his temper and cuss people out.â
âMr. Stewart, Iâm seriously asking for your advice.â
âActually, I donât know either. Ginâs a tough nut to crack, I canât figure out what heâs thinking most of the time.â
Letitia sighed Was this the end of it?
Samson added, âBut I do know what Gin wants the most.â
âWhatâs that?â
âA good nightâs sleep, Samson said, âHe suffers from insomnia, itâs been a problem for years, and never found a solution. But your scented candle worked for him, thatâs why he kept it. You could start there.â
Letitia finally saw a glimmer of hope, âThank you, Mr. Stewart!â
If she could solve Elginâs insomnia, then getting her emerald bracelet back just might be within reach! Letitia immediately started researching remedies for insomnia. She remembered her dad once taught her some knowledge in this area.
At the Ivory Towers, in the evening.
Elgin was dining in elegance, with the butler and servants by his side.
Suddenly he said, âLetitia.â
âHere!â
âAre you done watching?â
Uhâ¦she was just figuring out how to bring up the topic of helping him with massage to aid sleep.
Since getting back from the company, youâve been sneaking peeks at me,â Elgin put down his fork and glanced at her, âWhat, you want me?â
Letitia nearly choked, and before she could respond, Elgin wrapped his arm around her waist, âSince youâre so eager, I might as well satisfy you.â
He led her upstairs, his arm still around her.
Letitia panicked, what was he up to now, âElgin, youâ¦â
âDont move.â He spoke icily, tightening his grip on her even more
Once they reached the second floor, Elgin kicked open the master bedroom door and flung her inside.
Chapter 35
âMy bed.. is outside, Letitia struggled, trying to walk out, âIâm gonna head out first.â
Elgin yanked her back, âStarting today, youâre sleeping here.â
âWhy?â
âSleep on the floor, or on the couch; Elgin glared at her. âYouâre not allowed to stay outside anymore.â
âThe outside is perfectly fine!â Letitia broke free from his grasp and dashed through the door.
After a few seconds, she voluntarily came back.
âI just saw someone lurking at the stairway Letitia was astonished, âWho was that?â
âMy grandpaâs spy.â
âWhat?!â
Elgin tilted his chin up slightly, âGrandpa wants us to give him a great-grandkid, expects you to get pregnant soon.â
Letitia subconsciously touched her belly.
âThat⦠thatâs impossible, she replied, âYou wouldnât have the enemyâs daughter bear your child.â
âTrue. But Grandpa doesnât care, as long as the kid is mine, itâs all good. Anyway, you wonât be able to snatch the child away, nor mess with the Ramirez family.â
