Chapter 50
The sports car zipped down the street before finally pulling up at a swanky bar.
Elgin stepped out, and the girls passing by couldnât help but eye him with infatuation.
Tall, handsome, and loaded no wonder he turns heads every time!
âMr. Ramirez, youâre here,â greeted the bar manager, coming out to meet him. âThe usual spot?â
âMhm, bring the drinks.â
âRight away, sir. Just one moment.â
Elgin strutted over to the booth just to notice Samson was there too.
He nudged him aside and plopped down.
âLook whoâs here, Samson remarked. âYou look pissed, man. Who owes you money?â
Elgin gave him a once-over, âShut up, Iâm not in the mood for jokes.â
âHa-ha-ha! Let me guess, youâve had another spat with Letitia?â
Elgin was silent.
âCouplesâ tiffs, man. It will ease away soon, Samson clapped him on the shoulder. âGotta be the bigger man, you know.â Elgin lowered his head. He was this close to being driven up the wall by Letitia. That woman is a nightmare!
Be a bigger man? Sheâs carrying another guyâs baby, and heâs supposed to just suck it up?
No way!
Elgin grabbed his beer and started chugging.
âWhoa, straight from the bottle, huh?â Samson applauded, clapping. âIn all of AquaCity, only Letitia can get under your skin like that, right?â
âSheâs got nothing to do with it!â
âShe sure does. Iâve never seen you bat an eyelid, no matter how big a crisis Ramirez Group faces. But here you are, drowning your sorrows!â
The more Samson talked, the more Elgin seethed. If looks could kill, Samson would be dead a thousand times over.
âGin, you know what it means when a manâs moods are swayed by a woman?â
âWhat?â
âIt means youâve fallen for her.â
Elginâs long fingers paused on the bottle.
What? He fell for Letitia? Elgin scoffed, âYou must be drunk.â
âToo shy to admit it, huh? Samson patted his shoulder. âGin, it happens when you donât notice. And when you realize it, it means youâre already head over heels.â
âWhat a load of bull.â
âItâs the truth. Think about it. Would any other woman get you this riled up? What about Shela Ward, could she?â
Elginâs face darkened.
âSee? Samson said smugly. âHit the nail on the head.â
Thank goodness beer bottles are made of glass, because if it were a can, Elgin wouldâve crushed it by now!
Yes, he knew all about Shelaâs doing, flaunting by his name and strutting around town, but he simply didnât care
Even when Shela and Mark played sick to con him, he was just mad at the moment and didnât take it to heart afterward.
He didnât want to pick a fight; he just started feeling disgusted and distant towards Shela.
But Letitia? She could get under his skin with just one word! And sheâd stick in his mind, lingering there nonstop!
âCome on, man. Itâs normal to love a woman at your age,â Samson said. âIf you love her, treat her right. Get a hold of her and donât wait until sheâs gone to regret it.â
âLove? Do you even know who Letitia is?â
âI do. The beef between you two is old news, from the previous generation. Sheâs innocent, and youâre a victim too.â
Elgin replied, âI canât possibly love her, even if she were the last woman on earth.â Then he stopped talking and just kept on drinking silently, until he was totally wasted.
âHey, bro, maybe you should stop drinking⦠If you get drunk, Iâll have to drag you home!â
But it was no use
âMr. Ramirez!â Shela suddenly appeared. âIt really is you, I thought I was seeing things!â
Samson didnât care much for her and ignored her.
Elgin glanced at her and continued drinking.
âStop drinking, youâre drunk, Shela said pretentiously. âIf youâre upset, you can talk to me.â
While saying he should stop, she didnât lift a finger to help, even passing the bottle when Elgin reached for it.
Shela secretly hoped Elgin would get drunk.
They say men are easiest to seduce when theyâre drunk, and she had to seize the moment!
But Elgin found her annoying, âGet lost!â He pushed her away.
Shela landed on the sofa with a pout, âMr. Ramirez, itâs me. Donât you recognize me⦠Letâs go to a hotel, you need to
rest.
That should be enough; he must be wasted by now. Once they got to the hotel, she was going to employ her charms and fully seduce him into making her his woman.
Shela tried to help Elgin, who seemed genuinely drunk at this point. The women in front of him were just a blur.
âMr. Ramirez, Iâll always be with you.â
He squinted, ââ¦With me?â
âYes, I wonât leave you, never ever.â
âYou canât leave me anywayâ¦â His words slurred with possession, âLetitia, youâre my woman for life.â
Elgin was truly drunk. He mistook Shela for Letitia, his mind filled with her.
And as she leaned in closer, her red lips almost touching his, a fire ignited within him, burning fiercer and fiercer.
âMr. Ramirez,â the sweet voice cooed, âLetâs go to the hotel.â
He lifted Shelaâs chin, âTrying to seduce me again?â
Shela was shocked; had he seen through her so quickly? He was supposed to be drunk!
Before she could respond, Elgin leaned in, âAlright, Letitia, if thatâs what you want, then tonight⦠tonight Iâll grant your wish!â
Shels heard it clear as day; he called her âLetitia.â He thought she was Letitia!
Shiela was livid. Whatâs so good about that woman?!
âMr Ramirez, Iâm Shela, she protested, âTake a good look at me.â
Chapter 50
âShela, not Letitia.â
Elgin paused, then shoved her away, âIf youâre not her, then get the hell out!â
He used so much force that Shela fell to the ground.
She bit her lip in fury
She couldnât believe it â Letitiaâs got some serious game, totally bewitched Mr. Ramirez! Heâs even got her on his mind
when heâs drunk!
âMr. Ramirez, whatâs so great about Letitia?â Shela complained, âYouâre supposed to marry me, not her, sheâs just a puppetâ
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Elgin grabbed her by the collar, âYou dare insult her?â
Shela was taken aback, âMr Ramirez, Lâ¦
âDonât you dare speak ill of her! Not even half a word! Elgin barked a warning, âOnly I get to mess with her, no one else
can- got it?!â
His fierce look sent shivers down Shelaâs spine: âAlright, alright, I got itâ¦â
Elgin finally let go of her.
Seeing that he was in a foul mood and somewhat unconscious. Shela saw her chance and asked, âMr. Ramirez, are you here drowning your sorrows in booze because of Letitia?
