Chapter 63
He was even holding back a cough with all his might!
In the emergency room, the doctor asked, âWhat happened?â
âGot bitten by a stray cat.â
âTake off your shirt so I can treat the wound properly.â
Eigin did as told, and the young nurse holding the tray blushed at the sight of his upper body.
He, however, didnât bat an eyelid.
After a quick glance, the doctor began dressing Elginâs wound, âWhoa there, what kind of stray cat is this? These bite marks are obviously human.â
âYou can tell?â
âNeat rows of teeth marks? Itâs pretty obvious,â the doctor replied.
Elgin cleared his throat, âYeah, it was a person.â
âWhoâs got such a beef with you to bite that hard?â
âMy wife.â
The doctor paused, âSounds like youâre dealing with a tigress!â
Everyone in the vicinity chuckled, and even Elgin couldnât help but crack a smile, âA tigress with neat teeth, that is.â
âTreat your wife better, after all, sheâs the one youâre walking through life with, the doctor said. âYou got a cold? Iâll prescribe some medicine for you.â
âMhm.â
Back at the Ramirez Group, Elgin headed for the elevator and bumped into Samson and Vidonia.
Vidonia kept mum. Given her position, she should have greeted Elgin, the big boss.
âGin, what a coincidence, Samson greeted him. âI was just looking for you.â
âSame here
âTalk about being in sync. You go first.â
But Elgin looked at Vidonia, âLetitiaâs alone at the hospital, you should head overâ¦â
Before he could finish, Vidonia went ballistic, âWhat? Hospital?! Sheâs been gone from the office for half a day and now sheâs at the hospital? Elgin, what did you do to her!â
âAre you going or not?â
âOf course, Iâm going! With a huff, Vidonia stormed off.
âWhatâs the deal? Letitiaâs in the hospital and you look like youâve been through the wringer, Samson questioned. âYou two argue as frequently as clockwork.
Elgin replied, âWomen are like that.â
âIf you tell me that someone married Vidonia and they have daily disputes, Iâd totally buy it. But Letitiaâs temperament⦠sheâs not the arguing type.â
âHeh, easy for you to say, youâre not the one in pain!â
Letitia doesnât argue? Her tongue is sharper than anyoneâs!
âMan, sheâs known for her sweet temper at work, Samson continued, âbut somehow, she doesnât click with you. Maybe you should reflect on your own issues.â
Elgin raised an eyebrow, âMe? I have issues?â
Totally. She gets along with everyone but you. If itâs not on you, then who?â
Elginâs face tumed stone cold. He always felt that everyone around was siding with Letitia, whether it was the butler or Samson.
What kind of charm did Letitia have to make them all want to back her up?
After coughing twice, Elgin said, âIâm planning to take over Sullivan Groupâs Sunbeam Gems. Itâs gonna be a busy time, so be ready!
Samsonâs jaw nearly hit the floor, âWhat?! Now?
start today Donât drop the ball.â
âCanât we slow down a bit?â Samson asked. âJewelry Department is just getting off the ground, there are tons to do, plus managing the Lim division. Speaking of which, you should knowâ¦â
Samson started to ramble on about Shelaâs shortcomings, clearly frustrated.

âSheâs just an internet celeb, you canât even classify her as an actress. Sheâs never been formally trained in a reputable acting school, hasnât got a clue about hitting her mark. But her diva demands are off the charts!â
Elgin pursed his lips, âShela breaking into showbiz can wait. But the acquisition, Itâs a must.â
With that, he stepped into the elevator.
Samson held his forehead.
What a mess. Elgin, the boss, was so demanding!
Even he felt overwhelmed, and thinking about Letitiaâs daily life⦠that was truly tough.

And regarding Shela, the drama queen, Samson was on the verge of depression.
She knew nothing, couldnât remember lines Her acting was a disaster, yet she insisted on big productions with top directors and leading roles.
Not to mention, Shela wanted a RV, five assistants, two agents, ten bodyguards.
Samson felt like flipping a table! Why did Gin fall for such a woman? He really should get his eyes checked by a doctor!
Vidonia left the company and drove straight to the hospital.
In the hospital room, Letitia sat alone, lost in thought
She stayed like this until a servant from Ivory Towers came with food, âMy lady, this is a special prepared nutritional meal for you.â
It was lavish, nearly too much for the table. Letitia glanced at it with zero appetite.
She used to eat heartily for the sake of the baby inside her.
And now, it seemed pointless.
âJust leave it there,â she said, listlessly.
âHow can you not eat, my lady?â the servant said. âThe butler even asked me to bring extra, worried you wouldnât have enough.â
âThank the butler for me, but right now⦠I donât need it.â
After the blood draw, she hadnât had moming sickness and had eaten voraciously, gaining three to four pounds.
At the time, Letitia thought the baby was absorbing nutrients as eagerly as she was.
The servant was puzzled, âWhy donât you need it? As you progress in your pregnancy, you need more nutrients.â
âThe child is gone.â
âHow could that be, my lady? Of course, you are still carrying the baby, the servant replied. âIf something was wrong, the old master at the estate would have a fit.â
Letitia was taken aback.
âPlus, I just heard the nurse saying theyâre going to prescribe you some medication to stabilize the pregnancy.â
Hope reignited in her eyes, no longer dim.
She couldnât have heard wrong, could she? It wasnât a hallucination, not a dream? The baby was still there?!
Leutia felt a surge of strength coursing through her, âWhereâs the doctor? I need to see the doctor!â
She had to hear the good news directly from the doctorâs mouth!
The servant quickly agreed, âYes, yes, Iâll go get the doctor right away.â
Rapid footsteps echoed, and Vidonia rushed in, nearly colliding with the servant.
âWhatâs going on, Letitia? Are you okay?â she asked.
Vidonia, youâre hereâ
Letitia was gripping her hand tight, finally feeling a trickle of reassurance seeping in
âYeah, Elgin said you were alone at the hospital, so I hightailed it over here,â Vidonia asked, âWhat happened?â
Leté opened her mouth but didnât have a clue where to start. She didnât want to freak Vidonia out either so she just sighed and played it down, itâs nothingâ
the doctor came busting in, thinking Letitia was in hot water.
Tums out Letitia asked, âAm I still carrying the baby?â
âYep,â the doctor nodded, âWhen your husband rushed you in for the save last night, he told us to make sure both you and the baby were
safe
