Chapter 91
Shela laughed even louder, âOh come on, Mr. Ramirez, donât be like thatâ¦â
She was deliberately squandering all those supplements to keep Letitia from getting any nourishment.
She hated that child sheâs carrying, doing everything in her power to make Letitia lose the baby!
âArenât you supposed to be in the hospital resting up for the baby?â Letitia took a deep breath to keep her cool, âWhat brings you to Ivory Towers?â
âThe doc said Iâm stable enough to be discharged, just need to be careful from now on.â
âYour home is at Breezy Bay Condos
Shela lifted her chin smugly. âMr. Ramirez said, starting today. Iâm living at Ivory Towers. Because Iâm pregnant, he wants to spend more time with me, to be there for the baby!â
What? Shela moving in?
Then what about her? Howâs she supposed to live from now on? Does she even want to?
Shelaâs always stirring up trouble, scheming and targeting her and her baby!
Plus, Shelaâs pregnant too, and if something were to happen⦠if Shela played the pregnancy card, sheâd be framed and wouldnât have a leg to stand on!
âImpossible,â Letitia blurted out without thinking. âIn Ivory Towers, itâs her or me, not both!â
Shela might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but sheâs definitely not a pushover.
If it were just Letitia, sheâd take her on, make sure Shela couldnât stay a day longer in Ivory Towers. But with a baby on board, she
couldnât take any risks
And if anything happened to Shela, sheâd be sure to get the blame! This was a lose-lose situation!
âMr. Ramirez, listen to her, she canât stand me,â Shela pouted, âFine, I guess I should just leaveâ¦â
Elgin raised his hand to stop her, âSit down.â
âBut she doesnt welcome me
âLetitia, Elgin asked, âYou really think youâre the lady of the house?â
âI know my place,â Letitia answered, âIâm just stating my position-I canât and wonât live under the same roof as Shela.â
âThen get lost.â
âFine by me.â She agreed instantly, âIâll move out right now!â
This was a stroke of luck! Letitia couldnât wait to get out of there, the farther from Elgin the better! And now the chance had dropped right into her lap!
Elginâs face darkened. Stop right there!â
âYou told me to get lost,â Letitia retorted confidently, âIâm just following orders.â
Elgin was speechless. She nearly had him there!
âStill want me to go?â Letitia asked, âIâd love to move out, not to intrude on your cozy little world with Shela.â
âDonât even think about using this as an excuse to leave.â
Letitia pointed at Shela, retorting, âFine, then she can leave!â
âCut the crap, Elgin glared at her coldly. âBoth of you, stay in Ivory Towers!â
Her tone was mocking, âTwo women at each otherâs throats every day, arenât you afraid the mess?â
âYou canât harm her, and you wouldnât dare.â
Shela had his backing. And Letitia? She had no one behind her, just herself, and she couldnât fall.
Shela said on purpose, âLetitia, as long as you donât mess with me, I wonât do anything to you⦠Besides, Iâm not one to cause trouble. Iâm moving in to nurture my pregnancy, to give the baby more interaction with Mr. Ramirez, to build that father-son bond, you knowâ
âWhen have I ever bullied you?â
âSo many times, I just donât hold it against you.â Letitia rolled her eyes big time.
âBy the way,â Shela added. âThe date on your divorce agreement with Mr. Ramirez is coming up, you wonât be Mrs. Ramirez for much
ingerâ
The smug look on her face was nauseating.
Vine,â Letitia chose to back down a step. âYou guys take the master bedroom, Iâll stay on the first floor, and we wonât cross paths.â
After all, the further away from these two, the better!
Shela giggled, âThe guest room on the first floor? Oh my, youâve become a guest now, havenât you? Should I play the gracious host?â
âI couldnât bear it.â
âMr. Ramirez, letâs do what she wishes then.â
âNo,â Elgin looked up at her. âLetitia, youâll stay in the back, in the maidâs quarters.â
With that, the living room fell silent.
The butlerâs eyes widened in shock, âMr. Ramirezâ¦â
âWhatâs your status? Not the host, not a guest, the maidâs quarters suit you best, gives you a place to land.â
Shelaâs face was about to burst with joy.
Oh, how satisfying it was to see Letitia brought low like this, it was music to her ears!
ââ¦Okay.â Letitia accepted.
The maidâs quarters it is, still better than sleeping on the floor of the master bedroom.
At least, sheâd have her own space now!
She didnât have to worry about sleepwalking into Elginâs bed, or seeing Elginâs face every night.
A bit of freedom at last!
But the butler was frantic, âMrs. Ramirez, how can youâ¦â
âElgin is the master here, whatever he says goes.â With that, Letitia smiled, âButler, please show me the way, thank you for your troubleâ
âBut..
Elginâs piercing gaze swiftly swept over.
Left with no choice, the butler complied, âMrs. Ramirez, please follow me.â
Letitia walked away without looking back.
With complaints and pleas, she just left calmly! It really irked Elgin! He got up and strode upstairs.
Seeing this, Shela hurriedly followed. She had dreamed of living in Ivory Towers, and now it was all coming true.
âDad was right, having a kid is better than any other means!â Shela pondered. Even if Mr. Ramirezâs affections shift or his interest in her wanes, with her child, her status is secure!
Entering the master bedroom, Shela admired everything around her, quite pleased, âSo spacious, and such a big bed, I love this walk-in closet, it can pretty much fit all my clothesâ¦â
She was completely oblivious to Elginâs brooding expression.
He stood by the window, the evening breeze gently blowing in.
âDo you like this room?â he asked.
âYeah, Mr. Ramirez, Shela replied cheerfully, âjust thinking about getting to live with you every single day, opening and closing my eyes to you, I feel so incredibly lucky!â
âWell, you can stay here, and Iâll move next door.â
Shela was taken aback, âWhat?â
âOr, you know, there are plenty of guest rooms upstairs. Pick whichever one you like.â
âMr. Ramirez, arenât we⦠arenât we going to live together?â
âUntil we make things official, itâs better to keep a bit of space, Elgin replied. âItâs not great for your reputation.â
Shela shook her head frantically. âI donât care about that, Mr. Ramirez, as long asâ¦â
I do care, and I have to think about you.â
âBut.
Elgin cut her off. Its settled then.â
take a guest room,â Shela said, obviously not thrilled. âMr. Ramirez, Iâll stay in the one next to you, I donât want to be too far
Alightâ
