Chapter 95
1 went already, what are you gonna do about it? You think you can touch me now?
Shela started to taunt her on purpose, trying to get Letitiaâs blood boiling.
Looking at Shelaâs utterly nauseating smirk, Letitia really wanted to slap her face twice over, but she held herself back.
All she could do was grab Shela by the collar and war her, âListen up, you mess with my parents, you cross the line. If you dare lay a finger on them again. I swear on my life, I will make you pay, whatever the cost!â
The look in Letitiaâs eyes was fierce.
She rarely showed such a vicious expression, but Shela really got under her skin
The time Letitiaâs dad got scalded, sheâs been kicking herself for not protecting him better. She couldnât let that kind of tragedy happen
a second time!
âLet go of me. Shela stammered, taken aback by Letitiaâs intense reaction, âI didnât do anything to your momâ
âThereâs no way you went to see her for no reason!â
Shela fumbled with Letitiaâs grip. âLet go, I can barely breatheâ
Letitia glared at her with a ferocity and finally yanked her hand back hard
âWith your lack of femininity and your hardened extenor, sneered Susan, âthereâs no chance in hell that Mr. Ramirez would be fond of you. Youâre just too prickly
âTo hell with his fondness, came the quick retort
âHmph, but deep down youâre better at seducing men than anyone.â
Shela straightened her collar seeing that things were unfolding just as she had hoped, and began to relax.
âReally, I only chatted with your mom, Shela grinned, âSheâs all concerned about you, asking about your life, your love life. So, I just spilled the beans.â
Letitiaâs eyes widened, âWhat?â
âYou heard me. I just told it like it is. Didnât sugar-coat or rile her up one bit. Whatever your lifeâs like, I laid it out straight, not a word of a lie.
Letitia clenched her teeth hard.
Sheâd been working so hard to keep her mom in the dark, so she could rest easy and heal without worry⦠And now? Shela had wrecked
it all!
No wonder her mom hadnât called lately, or tried to reach out. Her mom knew the truth.
The people in the world who cared about her most were her parents
Knowing sheâs been living such a tough life, depending on others, her mom must be so heartbroken, having countless nightmares, shedding so many tears for her.
âSo whatâs there to blame me for?â Shela chuckled, âIs honesty a crime now?â
âShela, youâre downright evil!â
Letitiaâs fists clenched so tight her nails dug into her flesh.
âWhat on earth did I do to you? Letitia stared at her, âShela, from the get-go youâve hated me, setting me up. When I was in the asylum, we had no beef! I barely even saw you!â
âWant to know why?â
âYesâ

Shela replied, âAbort the baby, and Iâll tell you.â
Perplexed, Letitia asked, âCould it be the babyâs father has a score to settle with you?â
âIâm not telling unless you give up that kid!â
Lentiaâs hand instinctively covered her belly. Everyone wanted this child dead, except for her
Because she was the mother
Shale slowly approached her with a sinister and venomous grin, âLetitia, havenât you noticed? All your misfortunes started when you go! pregnant. That child is a curse, a burden. Get rid of him, and I promise youâll live a much happier life!â
Impossible!

âNow Iâm carrying Mr. Ramirezâs child. Iâm precious What are you?â
Letitia gritted her teeth, saying firmly. âI might be down and out, at the lowest point in my life, but I wonât be like this forever!â
She would get better, slowly but surely, with her own efforts.
And Shela? Once sheâs away from Elgin, sheâs nothing.
Standing on your own two feet, thatâs where true strength lies!
âHa, look at you now, just like an ant, anyone could step on you,â Shela pressed closer, her voice softening. âLetitia, give up the baby..
A car engine sounded in the distance, growing closer.
Shera knew Elginâs car was retuming.
Time was up, the show sheâd been preparing for was about to begin.
âI will never give up! Never!â Letitia retorted, âJust drop the idea, youâre not fit to lecture me!â
âDonât you want to know who the father is?â
âOne day, Ill find out!â
Shela scoffed, âYouâll never find out Come on. Letitia, letâs go to the hospital. These days, medical procedures are quick
She reached out to take Letitiaâs hand
Naturally, Letitia wouldnât let there be any physical contact with her and quickly dodged.
But Shela was persistent, her hand remained extended.
Realizing something was off, Letitia backed away even faster, âDonât come near me, donât touch me!â
Yet Shela just smiled, a chilling smile that sent shivers down the spine.
Just then, Shela suddenly lunged forward, nearly stepping on Letitiaâs shoes.
Letitia also stepped back instinctively. but then, she missed her footing! Behind her were stairs!
Letitiaâs balance shifted backwards, her body uncontrollably tilting back, her arms flailing in the air.
âWhoa, Letitia, watch out,â Shelaâs voice sounded as she grabbed her hand. âIâve got you.â
Letitia sensed danger, but it was too late.
The force of falling backwards was too great, it was beyond her control, and Shela, of all things, insisted on grabbing her hand, which meantâ¦
Letitia pulled Shela with her as they both tumbled down the steps.
âAhh- A scream pierced the night.
Elgin stepped out of the car just in time to witness the scene unfold.
His pupils dilated involuntarily.
He saw Letitia dragging Shela down with her, both of them rolling down the steps for some time before finally coming to a halt.
âShela!â Elgin rushed over immediately
On the cold, hard concrete ground, Shela writhed in agony, curling up in pain
Clutching her belly, she screamed, âMy baby⦠my baby..
Blood was pouring out from underneath her, quickly staining the ground red
Her pants, sleeves, theyâre all soaked in bright red blood.
Elgin was sprinting over as he shouted, âShela!â
He raced to her side, dropped to one knee, and scooped her up.
âMr. Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez. Shela cried out in agony, âMy baby, please save the baby, he canât be hurtâ¦â
Elginis voice was frantic too, Ambulance! Call an ambulance, now!â
This was his unborn child. With so much blood loss, who could tell if the baby would even survive!
