Chapter 97
Figin squinted his eyes and stopped the butler.
âMr. Ramirez, the butler arrived in a hot mess, panting heavily, âItâs bad, Mrs. Ramirez is bleeding heavily, her condition is critical, sheâs just been rushed to emergency!â
Sheâs bleeding out too?â
âYeah, Mrs. Ramirez was still conscious in the ambulance, but passed out the moment we got to the hospital. She kept mumbling about the childâ¦.â
The butler sighed heavily, shaking his head repeatedly.
Mark was shocked at first, then joy crept in.
Shela was quite the trickster, smart as a whip. Not only did she manage to miscarry on her own, but she also dragged Letitiaâs kid down with her! How awesome was that!
But on the outside, he didnât show it.
He said furiously, âShe had it coming! Instant karma, thatâs what it is came back to bite her fast. She wanted to kill Shelaâs baby, and look, she ended up screwing herself over!
The butler quickly tried to defend, âSir, what exactly happened here is still unclear, itâs not right for you to say such things.â
âWhatâs right or wrong? Mr. Ramirez himself said it, it was Letitia who made Shela lose the baby!â
âMr. Ramirez
Elgin had already started striding away, moving like the wind towards the neighboring operating room.
He was going to see Letitia. This time, sheâs made her own bed, and he sure as hell wasnât going to lie in it!
She had thrown herself into the lake before, and heâd been soft once, but there wouldnât be a second time!
âMr. Ramirez, Mr. Ramirez, you canât just barge into the operating room-Mr. Ramirezâ¦â
The nurses couldnât stop Elgin, he just waved his hand to part the crowd and walked into the operating room.
The doctor was prepping for surgery
Letitia lay on the operating table, surrounded by a cacophony of noises, so loud.
With the last bit of strength she had, she opened her eyes. And there was Elgin.
Is this reality, or just a dream? Letitia couldnât tell.
E⦠Elginâ¦
âItâs me,â he stood beside the operating table, âLetitia, are you lucid? Do you know what just happened?â
âThe baby.â she answered weakly, âSave my babyâ¦
Letitia tried to tug at his sleeve, to plead with him, but she had no strength.
She couldnât even lift her hand.
âI saved him once, I wonât do it again Elginâs gaze was cold and merciless, âLetitia, this time youâve dug your own grave! You killed your
own child!â
She shook her head in denial, âNo, thatâs not itâ¦â
âRight now, I donât have to lift a finger, saves me a world of trouble.â He snorted, âDonât you go fantasizing about miracles happening!â
Letitiaâs eyes widened in horror, âElgin, what⦠what are you going to doâ¦
He leaned in, his lips almost touching hers as he spoke, âIâm not going to save this child, and I wonât let you have the surgery.â
Her pupils shrunk, her face a picture of pure despair!
Her bleeding wasnât as severe as Shelaâs. In the ambulance, she had asked the doctor, who didnât promise anything but said it wasnât too bad, there was still a glimmer of hope.
That tiny glimmer had given Letitia something to cling to, a reason to hope.
But now. Elgin was about to snuff out that last bit of hope himself!
âEigin you canât do this,â Letitia said. âThe child is innocent. Our feud shouldnât involve the baby!â
You know your child is innocent, but what about Shelaâs baby, huh?â
Chapter
Elgmâs eyes cut like knives, as he lifted her chin slightly, âShelaâs baby is gone, the doctor said it himself. So, Letitia, why should your child get to live, safe and sound?â
His fingertips were colder than the operating table, sending a chill down Letitiaâs spine.
âHer babyâs gone, but thatâs got nothing to do with meâ¦â Letitiaâs eyes were brimming with tears. âI never intended to harm her, I did nothing, it was her⦠she did it to herselfâ¦
âYouâre trying to say she killed her own kid. Huh?â
Letitiaâs mind went blank. She didnât know what Shela was up to⦠the baby was a bargaining chip, something Shela should have been protecting. But in the moment of the fall, Shela could have just stood by, kept her distance, not touch her, yet Shela chose to reach out to her
Was Shela that kind-hearted? Impossible!
The clues were too many and too tangled, a mess in her mind that she couldnât clear.
âI didnât mean that. I donât know what she wanted, but,â Letitia said, âI never thought of killing her child, never.â
âBut her child is gone, and itâs because of you!â
âI fell too, Elgin, would I would I really risk such danger, disregard my own childâs safety, just to harm Shela?â
Elgin scoffed repeatedly
The kid you were carrying was a bastard, not worth a dime. Trading your mongrelâs life for my child, sounds like a fair deal to you! You could totally do that!
Letitia kept shaking her head, âYouâve got me all wrong, thatâs not it, Iâve never been that cruelâ¦â
Elgin straightened up.
He loomed over Letitia lying on the operating table, a bloodthirsty smile on his lips.
âToo late, thereâs no use talking anymore.â He said, âLetitia, weâll settle our scores slowly. For now, this moment, donât you even think about saving your child!â
Before Letitia could say anything, he turned to the doctor, âGet out! There wonât be any surgery!â
Everyone in the operating room froze.
It took the lead surgeon a moment to come to his senses, and he said, âMr. Ramirez, from my experience, the chances of saving the child are still quite high! If we donât operate, the child will 100%â¦â
âSave the child?â Elginâs lips curled, âWhat if I ask you to turn this operation into an abortion, would you do it?â
The lead surgeon was utterly dumbfounded.
Letitia bit her lip hard, breaking skin and bleeding. Only this pain kept her barely conscious.
Every word from Elgin was a knife, stabbing her already battered heart.
âYouâre cruel, youâre ruthless, she croaked, her voice rough and dry, âElgin, you actually want to kill my babyâ¦â
âThatâs right, just lay here, take your sweet time feeling the baby slip away. Itâs a much more torturous ride than just getting the procedure done.â
Man, Elgin is brutal. His methods of torment, each more deadly than the last!
âEnjoy. Elgin said with a sinister sneer as he lightly touched her lower belly before leaving. âYouâve got all the time in the world to say your goodbyes.â
Letitia closed her eyes, tears slowly trailing down from the corners of her eyes.
What should she do now..
