Cove's POV

Once we arrived at my house, I Invited River inside with me. I took him up to my bedroom and plopped down on my bed.

"Come sit with me!" I said while patting the spot next to me.

"Alright but just for a minute, you need to sleep," River replied and sat next to me.

"What! I can't sleep! I'm not even ti-" I cut myself off with a yawn.

"Mhm, not tired," River said and got up to pull back my blankets.

"No, seriously, I'm not even slightly tired, I don't know what that was," I tried to bargain with him. The truth is, I'm not tired. I'm exhausted. I just really don't want River to leave.

"Stop lying baby, you need to take a nap." River said and motioned for me to lay down. LCome here," he added after I didn't move.

I reluctantly dragged my feet over to him while grumbling under my breath because I didn't want to make him mad, and my bed looked very tempting.

I laid down and he surrounded me with my nice, warm blankets. "Sweet dreams angel," he said and kissed my forehead.

"See you tomorrow," he added before turning off my lights and closing my door.

I soon heard the front door close, then his car drive away shortly after. Once I knew he was long gone, I closed my eyes and fell asleep almost instantly.

River's POV

After I left Cove's house I headed straight to the layout. I know that the guy who hurt Cove the other day will be there. His name is Terry.

After I saw Cove's bruises, I realized that I've kinda let him off the hook. I was so focused on Cove that I forgot about the guy who did it.

I mean yeah I beat him up already, but that's nothing. Let's just say that I don't think he'll survive this experience.

I pulled up to the house and barged inside. "Terry!" I shouted and everyone turned to look at me. Slowly, Terry emerged from one of the rooms off to the side.

I motioned for him to follow me and lead him to my car. Sadly, the layout doesn't have any rooms for torturing and killing, so I have to take him all the way to the warehouse.

"Get in!" I gridded through my teeth and he nearly ran to the the passenger door.

"Did I say get in the front! No! In the back!" I yelled. I don't want this filthy animal anywhere near me, or more importantly, I don't want him sitting where Cove sits. That's her spot.

"Yes sir," he whispered and scurried to the backseat. What a pussy.

I took a deep breath and slid into the driver's seat. I slid the key into the ignition and looked back to see Terry balled up in the back like a child.

"You know these are going to be your last moments on earth, right?" I asked a terrified Terry while pulling out.

"Yes I know," Terry answered sadly.

"You really f*cked up," I added just to add fuel to the fire.

"I know," he said and his voice cracked. I looked back to see him silently crying. Wow, I didn't know I had such a baby on my team.

The rest of the five minute drive was completely silent with the exception of Terry's occasional sobs.

"C'mon," I said and got out of my car. Once I saw that he's following me, I started to make my way to the door.

Out of nowhere, Terry came charging at me and tackled me to the ground.

The only reason I fell was because I wasn't expecting it at all, but I didn't let it delay me too long as I was quickly back on my feet and running after Terry.

I saw him just a few feet away from my car. Wait. Is that what he's planning to do? This idiot doesn't even have the keys!

Maybe I should play along, let him think he's getting away. Yep, that's exactly what I'm going to do.

I took a step forward, then pretended to fall in pain and clutched my ankle.

"Ahhh," I screamed for extra effect.

Terry let out an evil laugh and opened my car door rather aggressively. Ugh, now I have to off clean the handle!

It only took him a few seconds to realize that he forgot the key, and in that time I was able to quietly get up and stand behind him without him noticing me.

"Looking for this?" I asked. He jumped and slowly turned around to see me dangling my keys above his head.

"Well!" I yelled when he didn't answer. He jumped again at my sudden raise of voice.

"I-I uhh, It-It's not like that!" He stuttered.

"I-I uhh, I-I'm pretty sure it is" I mimicked.

"Now let's go, I don't have all day," I said and roughly dragged him inside by the arm.

"No! I'm sorry, please! I didn't mean it!" He cried as I dragged him to the elevator.

"Yeah yeah yeah, you're lucky I'm not bringing you to floor X. Now if you don't shut up, I will lock you down there with no food, then torture you to death."

Thankfully that made him keep quiet, and I decided to take him to floor 4. The elevator started its descent shakily, I really hate when it does that. I feel like it will fall, and since we have 8 floors, I don't think we'd survive. Not that I care if Terry dies.

The elevator dinging interrupted my thoughts. I silently dragged Terry to room 102. We have a lot of rooms, but usually barely 2 or 3 per floor are occupied at a time.

Once we got into the room, Terry really started freaking out. He squirmed in my grip and started screaming.

"No, let me go! I'm sorry, I'll do anything!" He cried out.

"Do the crime, do the time. But I'm this case, not the time." I said and strapped him up to some ropes. In this room there's chains and ropes hanging from the ceiling. There's also a whole shelf of torture items on a wall.

I really want to get this over with and go home, so I decided on stealing Andrew's idea of cutting off every single one of his fingers. Then I'll do the 30 cuts thing.

The 30 cuts thing is where you place 30 cuts all along someone's body, 4 on an arm, 7 on each leg, 6 on their face, and finally 13 on their stomach. You then let them bleed out to death.

I started by cutting off his index finger.  Blood sprayed everywhere and his scream was literally going to explode my eardrums, so I had to put a gag in his mouth. I like it better that way anyways.

Over the course of the next 20 minutes, I cut off every single one of his fingers.

"This is for touching what's mine," I lectured and switched knifes for 30 cuts.

About halfway through the cuts on his stomach, he somehow managed to swing his legs and kicked me in the stomach.

"YOU SON OF A B*ITCH!!" I pulled out my gun, aimed, and shot him in the throat. I've done enough anyways.

He started spitting up blood through his gag and it spilled all over the floor.

"That's disgusting," I mumbled to myself and left the room. Someone else can clean it up later.

I walked to the exit and checked the time and saw that it's almost 6:00pm. Cove should wake up soon, maybe I can see her.

I stepped outside and felt something wet. I looked up and realized that it's raining, no, pouring. Great.

I ran to my car and slid in. Right as I reached for my keys, my phone started ringing. I quickly took it out of my pocket and answered it right away once I saw who it is. Cove

Cove's POV

I woke up from my nap and checked the time. It's 5:09. My stomach suddenly growled and I realized that I'm starving, so I got up to make some food.

I scanned the fridge and something caught my eye, watermelon!! I love fruits, especially watermelon and peaches. Even better, it's all ready cut up and ready to eat.

I quickly grabbed the whole container and sat down with it. I think I can eat the whole thing.

I took a bite of a nice juicy chunk and nearly moaned in delight. It's perfect! I eagerly grabbed another one and shoved it in my mouth. Equally as good.

My phone suddenly rang and interrupted my watermelon eating. I picked it up and answered when I saw that it's my parents.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hi sweetie," my mother's voice answered. By the sound of it, they seem to be in the car.

"Hi Mom, what's up?"

"Well, we just wanted to tell you that we can't come home till very late tonight or early tomorrow morning because a storm is headed your way and the streets are already flooded from where we are."

A storm! Oh no. "L-like a lightning storm?" I asked. Please say no.

"Yes Cove, a lightening storm." On cue, I hear rain suddenly start beating down on the roof. When did that start?Luckily theirs no thunder yet.

We made small talk for a bit before hanging up. Why? Why does there have to be a storm? In case if I haven't made it clear, storms are my biggest fear.

I finished up my delicious watermelon and put the container in the sink. I then grabbed my phone and skipped to the couch.

I decided to stream YouTube from my phone onto the TV. Maybe some Minecraft videos will help distract me from the ever growing rain outside.

After watching 2 videos of parkour, I decided to watch a red stone tutorial. As soon that video ended and everything went quiet, I heard a loud roar of thunder.

I counted in my head 7 seconds before lightning struck and lit up my entire house. Silence followed and I soon started to relax. This won't be too bad, right?

As soon I managed to calm myself down, another roar of thunder came and more lightning struck. I whimpered and pulled my knees to my chest.

I can't do this, I want someone. No, I need someone. I need River.

I reached for my phone and scrolled through my contacts before finally finding River's name. I really need to add him to my favorites, but that's not my main priority right now.

I quickly hit call and put my phone to my ear. Not even two rings later, he picked up.

"Hey baby, are you okay?" He asked with concern in his voice.

"Yes, but t-there's a lightning storm a-and I'm really scared."

"Aww, okay Cove I'll be there-" he was cut off by another loud roar of thunder. At this point I'm shaking.

"River, hurry please!" I begged. Lightning flashed and it looked super close. I let a single tear slip down my cheek, but quickly wiped away the rest.

"Shh, okay I'm coming sweet girl, I'm coming, okay?" He said. Before I could answer, he hung up the phone.

I let my phone fall on the ground and scooted to the edge of the couch.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Every thunder felt like it was going to make the house collapse. Every lightning strike seemed to get closer and closer to my house.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. I nearly threw myself off the couch and scrambled to open it.

"River!" I cheered once the door was open. He took one look at my distressed face and instantly pulled me into a hug.

"Cove, you're scared of  storms?" He asked. I nodded into his shirt, and he sighed.

"Come inside," I said and pulled away from his shirt. His shirt...there's blood on his shirt!!

"Oh my gosh River, are you okay?!" I asked. He looked at me confused so I pointed at his shirt. Realization flashed over his face, and he stepped inside.

"Y-Yeah, I umm, someone spilled wine on my shirt," he said while scratching the back of his neck. I don't really believe him, but I'll just go with it.

"Oh, okay, let me get you a new shirt."Relief that I believe him flooded his face, even though I don't, and he quickly agreed while shutting the door.

"C'mon," I called while running up the stairs, and he followed. By the time he entered my room, I already picked out one of my black over-sized band t-shirts.

"Here," I said and put it in his arms before sitting down on my bed.

"Thanks," he mumbled, and pulled off his shirt right in front of me.

"Ahhh," I yelled and quickly shielded my eyes.

"Sorry," River chuckled, and I could hear him putting on the shirt that I gave him.

"Okay, done," he said after a second, and I peaked through my fingers just to make sure.

"Phew," I whispered and completely uncovered my eyes.

"Do yo-" River started to say before getting cut off by a roar thunder.

For a second, I forgot all about the thunder storm, but this brought me back to all of my worries and fears.

I whimpered and curled up on my bed. I wish that it could all go away, but it can't.

"Cove, come here baby," River's voice called. I slowly stood up and walked to him. When I got close enough for him to reach, he pulled me into a hug.

"It's going to be okay," he soothed and used one hand to stroke my hair.

Another round of thunder came and I pushed myself further into River's arms.

"Shh, Cove it will be over soon," he whispered into my ear. I stayed hugging him for another minute before pulling away and looking up at him.

"As I was saying, do you want to put your pajamas on, and maybe we can watch a movie?" He asked.

"Yes!" I cheered and ran to my dresser. I picked out a silk pink t-shirt with matching pink shorts.

"I'll be right back," I said and ran into my bathroom. I shut the door and quickly undressed, then put on my pajamas.

"I'm done," I called and left the bathroom. River was still standing up and he was looking at his phone, although as soon as he heard me, he put it back in his pocket.

"Okay, let's go." I quickly put my dirty clothes in my hamper, then followed him out to the living room.

"Okay, what do you wanna watch?" I asked after we sat done and got comfortable. I have my head on River shoulder and his arm is wrapped around my waist.

"How about Titanic?" He asked.

"Yes! Oh my gosh I love that movie!" I exclaimed and quickly put it on. The intro music started, but the sound was interrupted by a roll of thunder.

I squealed and grabbed River's hand. Lightning struck and I squeezed his hand tightly until it disappeared. Wow, that really helped, I think I'll do this for now on.

And that's what I did the rest of the movie. Whenever lightning or thunder came, I squeezed his hand and he rubbed the back of mine with his thumb.

Before I knew it, my eyes became heavy and I fell asleep in River's arms.
