Mystic Maiden was shocked because she needed three months to be able to perfect this skill. It was
mainly due to her soul being abnormally stronger than most.
âHow could he do that?â
âCould his soul be stronger than mine?â
Since she was currently a green skeleton, there werenât any muscles on her face. Hence, no one knew
what her expressions were. In reality, the fact that her soul was below her own servantâs embarrassed
Mystic Maiden.
âArghhhh!â
âBoss, please boss! Stop hitting me! My bones are breaking! Iâm a casualtyâ¦â Pigsy oinked in pain,
unable to bear it any longer.
Alexâs attacks were heavy, letting out a loud thud every time he hit the bone. It was absolutely
unbearable. In the end, Alex was satisfied. The frustration from being stomped on had finally faded.
Mystic Maiden asked, âYou were able to connect your soul to your bones. How did you do that?â
Alex brushed it off. âHey, is it really that hard? Isnât this just basic instinct? Itâs like⦠The need to drink
and pee?â
Mystic Maiden was speechless.
âI canât even start a normal conversation with him now. He made it sound like weâre idiots.â
âWhereâs my wife?â Alex demanded.
He didnât see anyone else in this cave, apart from Pigsy.
Pigsy replied, âHunting. We havenât had a good meal in days. If this keeps up, we might starve to
death.â
Alexâs mouth dropped open, staring at his empty stomach within its skeleton.
âAre you for real?â
âJust look at you, you donât even have a stomach. How can you eat?â
Pigsy grumbled. âDonât eat when they come back with todayâs harvest then.â
Alex looked towards Mystic Maiden, hoping to get some answers.
âBeing here depletes your soul power every second,â she replied. âItâs different from the outside world.
We had to use blood and flesh to feed our soul back then, but everything we do here, even just
surviving, requires soul power!â
âSo we need some things to replenish our soul powers. All the bone demons outside, and those
spiritual herbs with mysterious energy, are the source of that.â
Alex nodded. He had used quite some soul power to beat up Pigsy too. He did, in fact, feel kind of
hungry. However, it wasnât his stomach but his soul.
Yet he still preferred to stay optimistic. âItâs not a bad thing. Itâs like a type of training for our souls; just a
little weirder is all. If we manage to get out of here alive, our powers would definitely increase.â
Pigsy huffed. âHow optimistic. What if we donât have a way of escape? And even if we do, weâre just
bones. People might think weâre monsters.â
âUhmâ¦â
Alex rubbed his temples with his fingers as the thought hit him. He was getting a headache.
An hour or two later, Alex felt his anxiousness rising. Just then, noises came from outside of the cave. It
seemed someone was here. The people turned out to be Daya, Ynes, Shirley, and Channing, the ones
who had gone out to hunt.
As expected, the four of them were here too. Seeing another skeleton in the cave, the four were first
shocked before realizing that it was Alex.
âDarling?!â Daya yelled.
Alex smiled and nodded. âIt is me!â
She immediately rushed over to give him a big hug. It was a rather intriguing sensation.
Since they were both skeletons, crackling sounds came from their bones colliding with each other. It
didnât feel as nice as when they were normally hugging. Instead, it felt like the time the two were
synchronizing during the concert. This was because their soul power was wrapped around their bones,
equivalent to their souls coming in direct contact.
âI thought Iâd never see you again,â Daya cried with emotion, her soul power wavering.
âI didnât expect to be two years late either. It mustâve been hard on you.â
