As for why Shirley reacted as such, such contact would directly reach the soul, after all. It had skipped
the entire process of the contact of skin, sending neural signals straight to the brain.
After hearing Shirley whimpering like a kitten, he immediately understood what was happening.
With this, Alex jumped away from Shirley, feeling slightly awkward. No one could tell, though, from his
face being a mere skeleton.
He even acted casual about it. âAs I said, donât cry.â
As a dense person⦠No, as a self-identifying dense pig, Pigsy decided to speak up. âBoss, you didnât
make her cry. Iâm a witness. You just touched her. You obviously made her moan.â
Alex felt even more awkward now. He rushed up to Pigsy and smacked it again. âWitness? I think
youâre talking way too muchâ¦â
Shirley was so embarrassed that she wished she could bury herself in a hole. Moreover, she simply
couldnât accept how Alex could beat her. She had been daydreaming about how she could take
revenge on Alex once he came to this world. He should be pretty weak as a newbie, after all. Although
she wouldnât be powerful enough to kill him, itâd still be nice to have a punching bag every single day,
and sheâd get to boss him aroundâ¦
To achieve this, she worked hard to improve herself. Yet, reality would prove cruel-she was still
beneath him.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Daya approached Shirley and brought her back up to her feet.
They had experienced life and death together, so they were quite close at this point. Naturally, such a
minor incident wouldnât stale their relationship. Shirley had expressed countless times that she wanted
to punch Alex.
As the group cared for each other, Alex noticed their harvest for todayâ¦
A mouse!
All but a grey bones, the mouse didnât have any flesh either. Normally, they shouldâve been able to hunt
down a tiger or panther in this place with such a big group.
Surprisingly, the catch wasnât anything big at all. The mouse was just slightly larger than a normal cat.
Alex narrowed his eyes. âYou guys went out to hunt for food, right? But is this what you all call food? Itâs
not even enough to be a toothpick!â
Shirley didnât like hearing this. âYouâre just a newbie. If you donât know anything, then donât be so quick
to give an opinion. Do you think itâs easy to catch a mouse? Itâs a bone demon, get it? Itâs not your
ordinary rat.â
Daya explained the dangers this place held. The food chain within bone demons was rather serious.
Since everyone had to survive, most smaller bone demons couldnât live long, having been eaten by
other bone demons at this point.
They werenât exactly powerful enough, so all they could capture were the smaller beings. If they were
to encounter any big guys, all they could do was run.
Moreover, Pigsy had been injured by a flea. That flea was extremely fast, and it had lots of sharp teeth
within its large mouth. It had almost chomped off Pigsyâs head, but Shirley managed to injure it with the
patterns on her chest, scaring it away.
Hearing such information, Alex was upset and sad for them.
âThey have been living such difficult days in this place. Even a mere flea was enough to threaten their
lives. Itâs honestly a miracle that all of them made it through two whole years.â
Ynes said, âWeâve been relying on Shirley for the past two years. It wouldâve been very difficult to have
survived till now. It really is that hard on us.â
Alex looked toward Mystic Maiden.
She seemed to have understood what he was thinking of and spoke to him telepathically, âDonât look at
me, my bones arenât actual bones. Theyâre made from the Chaos leaves, so it was already difficult
enough not to dissipate. My powers really arenât all that strong.â
She then told Alex that she had made the right choice to come here. Since her skeleton wasnât made of
actual bones, it had a lot of flaws.
However, she found hope here, as she had the ability to fix the flaws in her bones. She could even
possibly make a perfect skeleton for herself, which would mean sheâd be able to be reborn in a new
body of her own.
