In just a few moments, everyone had come together to distribute the bones of the mouse.
Alex noticed faint bone patterns on the mouse bone demon as well. They werenât golden but a whitish-
grey instead. He could tell that the power within these bone patterns was far less potent than the ones
on Shirley, let alone any of the bone patterns of those two gigantic bone demons he encountered.
Daya handed Alex a bone, which consisted of five bone patterns. It was considered one of the bones
that had more patterns than the others. The patterns seemed to be made out of a rare type of
language.
âTry eating it. See if these bone patterns show up on your bones. Usually, one out of five will.â
âHow? Do I chew on it?â Alex was appalled.
âUse your soul power to absorb it.â Daya told Alex that one couldnât absorb bone patterns of demons
that were still alive.
On the contrary, patterns could be absorbed once the soul of the being had been destroyed or if they
had been drained of their soul powers.
Whitish grey bone patterns were considered one of the lower classes.
Alex didnât have any bone patterns on him as of now, and he was able to manifest them onto his bones
after absorbing some. Since the others had higher-class bone patterns on them, they wouldnât be
manifesting those anymore.
However, they could use these low- grade bone patterns as nutrients for their current patterns, food to
replenish their soul power.
âThis really is a weird world.â
Alex had no choice but to absorb the bone patterns in front of everyone. They stared at him, waiting
eagerly for some result. In mere moments, he felt the energy within the mouseâs bone patterns getting
absorbed entirely by the Forbidden Spell patterns hidden within his bones. Nonetheless, no bone
patterns were manifested onto his bones.
Several minutes later, bone patterns still hadnât manifested themselves on Alexâs body.
Everyone was disappointed, but Daya brought another bone and comforted him. âItâs alright.
Manifestation works by chance too. If one doesnât work, letâs just try another. Itâd work sooner or later.â
Alex absorbed yet another bone, this one with four bone patterns on it. Yet, his body manifested none.
It still looked the same.
On his third bone, everyone stayed silent as they realized there was still no bone pattern that
manifested on Alexâs skeleton.
He had just absorbed the ones with the most bone patterns on this mouse skeleton. Thus, they couldnât
afford to give him anymore. The rest needed to replenish their soul powers too, or they wouldnât have
enough to go hunting the next time.
âBoss, your bones are useless. You couldnât even leave one pattern on your body,â Pigsy said.
Alex huffed coldly. âThese bone patterns are too weak for me.â
He stood up and moved to the side, sitting down on the ground with his legs crossed. The three bones
that he absorbed had twelve bone patterns in total. Although he didnât manifest any on his body, he
clearly felt that the forbidden spell within him liked this power.
It seemed to desire such power, quivering within his bones, as if telling him that it wanted more.
More!
âGod damn it! Canât you take a break?â
âWhere are we even going to find that many bone patterns for you to eat?â
âIâve already wasted so much. Do you know that?â
Alex immediately thought of suppressing the Forbidden Spell talisman within him.
âThis is way too weird⦠Itâs like a child! A child who has never had candy but canât stop asking for more
once it tasted it!â
Just then, he felt something quiver within his conscience. The talismans rushed into his mind, starting
to show him a small void filled with various colorful spots. Some were dispersed while the others
gathered together. They were even mobile.
Alex tried to check thoroughly. âIsnât this just some 3D map?!â
âAnd those little spots⦠Could they be bone patterns? Have they been distributed in such a way?â
Alex felt his mind turn foggy. âThe ancient talismans of the Forbidden Spell are starting to act up, asking
for more bone patterns!â
