Alex quickly stepped back and stared at that eerie ball of flame.
âThis used to be Dorothyâs consciousness.â
âThe flame was so aggressive and violent that even the soul of someone as powerful as the princess
got burned just like that in a matter of seconds.â
âThen, has Dorothyâs consciousness been burned as well?â
Worried, Alex stared unfazed at the flame. Then, he found out that as soon as the princess died, the
golden flame instantly extinguished. Not even a spark was left, and none remained on the ground of
her consciousness.
âWhat was that then?â
âHow did it light up?â
Alex still felt lingering fears. When he was facing that ball of fire, he knew that he would likely perish if
he were to be burned to death as well.
âHow did the fire start out of nowhere?â
âCould it be some sort of flame of inhibition? Her final words were about the Emperor⦠Could she have
found out some truth at the end of her life?â
âWas it an attack by the Emperor of the Underworld?â
Alex could only guess, but he had no answer to it.
The Emperor of the Underworld referred to an invincible demon that strayed from the River Styx and
started his own crew, then finally was suppressed by Dairaionji Temple.
The corpse princess was dead. Other than a little spooked, Alex felt nothing else. He immediately went
over to observe Dorothyâs sealed soul.
A few minutes later, he realized that the seal wasnât too secure. With his abilities, he could definitely
unseal it. Nonetheless, he needed some time.
Whoosh.
Alexâs soul returned to his body.
After explaining the situation to Xerxes and Pigsy, he returned, getting ready to unseal her.
Outside, the skies had darkened, and it was breezy. The seas were quiet.
Xerxes and Pigsy sat facing one another, in between them a huge pile of bones with gold bone
patterns. These had been picked up from the battlefield before. They were the dark golden bone
demons killed by Alex.
Pigsy was touched, it felt like crying. âIâve been in the Underworld for some years and strayed
everyday, but Iâve never had a full stomach.â
âAnd donâ t even mention these dark golden bone patterns. Even if they were red, it was never my turn
to consuming them. Iâd have never thought Iâd have the chance to eat all I want!â
Xerxes was moved. âYouâre a treasure hunting pig. How did you get so poor? Thatâs rare to see.â
Pigsy said, âI⦠I am a little unlucky.â
Xerxes gestured his hand at the bones. âYou start first!â
If Pigsy were in his flesh right now, he wouldâve long been dripping in saliva. When he heard Xerxesâ
words, he no longer held back. He grabbed the biggest bone and took a big bite.
Then, in the next second, another tragedy broke out.
âArghhh!â
With a painful scream, Pigsy was sent flying by those dark golden bone patterns.
âWhatâs with this?!â
âWhy canât I swallow them?â
Xerxesâs hand went to his head. âOh, I remember! These bone demons belonged to the princess! She
had her demons processed, so they contained a special energy of the Underworld. Generally, trialists
canât eat them, and they would be harmful to those who try.â
âHuh?â Pigsy put on a face. âThen why did we go through the hard work of collecting the demons? Isnât
it a waste?â
Xerxes said, âWell, itâ s not. Thereâs still some use. I can eat them.â
Pigsy was excited again. âHow? Teach me!â
âI canât. Iâve swallowed the princessâ Spiritual Corpse Core. Thatâs why I can eat them,â Xerxes sighed.
âF*ck this!â Pigsy threw the bones on the ground. It felt like crying, but no tears came out.
âDamn it! I sure am one unlucky pig!â
