own motherâs begging.
Maya knelt down slowly, too, her eyes blurring with tears while looking at Lenneberg. âTo be honest, I
hated you. Dad missed you so much, but you never came back. He always called for you in his
sleepâ¦â
âBut mom told me not to hate you because you tried your best. You didnât come back, and that was the
greatest protection you gave meâ¦â
âBut I still miss Dad and Mom so much, I wish they could come back.â
Lenneberg grabbed her chest as she felt her heart tearing apart.

Lenneberg shuddered, and she embraced Maya tightly. âMy daughter, my precious baby, I⦠Have
