In reality, when Chloe heard the words âSunshine Co.â, she wanted to hide her face out of
embarrassment. She wanted to speak out and tell her aunt that Alex was the young director of the
business that was going to acquire Sunshine Co.
However, Heather didnât even give her a chance to speak.
She started insulting Alex. âWhich business? Does that have anything to do with you? Would you even
know what Iâm talking about if I told you? You thugs usually just⦠Fight, smoke and drink, right? All you
do is race cars and go to the arcade! Do you even know what an acquisition is? Itâs not even that, Iâm
saying itâs a partnership!â
âWhatever, itâs no use explaining it to your lowlifes. Youâre just ferns in a well.â
Nicholas corrected her. âYouâre wrong. Itâs âa frog in a well knows nothing about the seaâ, you old hag!â
Heather fumed. âHow dare you correct me? Do you even know what youâre saying?â
Nicholas was speechless. He didnât want to waste any more energy being angry and slowly turning into
a Chad. âHey, Huntsman was it?â
Chad blinked furiously. âI, itâs⦠Ch-Ch-Chad Hunter!â
âAlright, Chad, didnât you just give her a thirty eight thousand dollar necklace? But youâre acting so
arrogantly as if you bought one that was worth 250 thousand. Come here and take a look at what Iâve
prepared.â
Nicholas took out the gift that he had prepared ages ago, it was a necklace as well.
Coincidentally, there was a red jewel pendant on it. The pendant was surrounded by small diamonds,
making it seem fairly elegant and luxurious. With the two necklaces next to each other, it was obvious
which was better.
Chadâs red jewel necklace looked dull and worthless next to Nicholasâ.
Not only were Chloeâs parents shocked, Chloe herself was surprised by the necklace as well. She
pointed at it and asked, âNick, isnât this Starlight from Stardew Jewellery? Why⦠Why did you buy it?â
Chloe recognized the necklace because the two had seen it when they went shopping together.
Heather recognized it as well. âOh my, it really is Starlight! This is one of the best necklaces that
Stardew Valley had produced. It would cost at least 990 thousand! Howâ¦did you get this?â
Nicholas replied. âHow else? I bought it, did you think Iâd steal?â
He then turned to look at Chad, who was extremely frustrated. âLook at it. Can you tell which is better
now? I was wondering why you were bluffing with a necklace that cost merely thirty eight thousand
dollars. You even called Chloeâs family poor. So youâre saying youâre pretty rich? Oh, and you claim to
be the general manager of Sunshine Co. right? I have his phone number here. Should I give him a call
to see which one of you is the real one?â
Chad huffed. âYou have the general managerâs number? Hah, bluff all you want!â
To his demise, Nicholas was telling the truth and he immediately dialed the general managerâs number.
However, Alex snatched the phone out of Nicholasâ hands and said, âYouâre the general manager of
Sunshine Co.? Iâm just calling to tell you that the acquisition of your company is not approved.â
âWhat? Why?â
The person on the other end of the line, the true general manager of the Sunshine Co, started
panicking. He had put in a lot of effort into convincing Lush Cosmetics to take over their company.
This was because he just wanted it to be done as quickly as possible, or his company would go
bankrupt. He wouldnât even be able to pay his employeesâ salaries. If they stalled for another month or
so, the bank would force them to pay back their loans.
Not only would they go bankrupt, the directors would have to pay the debts back with their own money
and property as well.
He had to make sure that the acquisition was perfect and successful.
Alex replied. âWhy? Because I found out just how unreliable your company is. You switch managers
from time to time. Even a person like Chad Hunter could become a manager. Well, that will be all, we
just called to inform you this. Ciao.â
Both Heather and Chad went silent.
âWhat just happened?â
After a brief while, Heather cackled. âOh lord, Iâm dying of laughter! You two have to get an acting
career or it would be a loss for America! You two have to partner up in an act! It would be an amazing
show, I just know it! Hah, we called just to inform you? Did you actually think youâre some boss of a
large corporation? Iâd reckon you never made a call, it was all a bluff! Be careful, or lightning might
strike when you lie too much!â
