Gumihou: Mediate the âeeeee!!!â and summarise some of the many repeats of Things We Already Know Damnit. Redid the whole chapter, more or less.
âSo, that person is coming.â
The next morning, I set my familiars down to tell them The News. There was no way to hide this fact, and it is my duty as their Master to allow them the opportunity to mentally prepare themselves for⦠a certain someoneâs presence.
Naturally, I made sure to have this talk after a good breakfast.
âWhat person?â Grandpa Gon looked tensed.
âUmu, is it that-â
ââDonât say it!!!ââ Dora-chan screeched, cutting off Ferâs slow drawl.
ââWhat is it~~? Who is it~~?ââ Sui bobbed in place looking curiously at everyone in turn.
Ah, Sui-tan is the cutest~~
Also, I vaguely remember That Person said something about âIf you happen to catch a Leviathan, do bring it over~â when they heard that I was heading for Verulean.
I-I canât imagine what his reaction would be once he heard that we really did have a Leviathan in our handsâ¦
By the way, Dora-chan was flying around the room going âGehh!!â and âNooo!!â while Grandpa Gon had practically turned into stone . I could not even begin to guess what was going on inside the Ancient Dragonâs head. Whatever it is, it must have something to do with Dragon Breath.
No, no, thatâs a little unfair to That Person.
Heâs a passionate person. An expert in his field. People may call him a pervert, but thatâs only when it comes to his passion. Heâs the acknowledged expert, everyone says so. Look, even the Royal Capital Guild sends for him.
Heâs the pro among pros.
A super pro.
So pro that he tipped over into being a perv.
âUmu, heâs still the best in his field,â said Fer.
ââ¦kuuuhhhhââ was the only thing that came out of Grandpa Gonâs mouth. The wise and eloquent Ancient Dragon had been aggravated to the point of making incoherent sounds.
ââI guessâ¦ââ Dora-chan muttered as he sulked in a corner.
I supposed, between the annoying Elland-san and eating Leviathan⦠the prospect of eating Leviathan won by a small margin.
âHereâs to hoping that that creature would be distracted by the Leviathan,â said Grandpa Gon.
ââHuh, yeah, Iâm going to make sure Iâm far, far away from that thing,ââ said Dora-chan.
â⦠why do I get the feeling that Elland-san is being treated like a giant cockroach here?â I mused, feeling a little sorry for the Elf.
âSpeaking of which, I heard that Elland will be here in three days,â said Willem-san.
â⦠haahhhâ¦â
ââ⦠haaahhhhhâ¦ââ
My two Dragon familiars looked especially depressed. Well, I canât blame them. Sui extended her tentacles and tapped Grandpa Gon and Dora-chanâs paws.
ââOkay~?ââ
Ahh, my Sui-tan is so compassionate~
âOi, whatâs with this gloomy atmosphere?â Fer snapped. âWhy are you two so miserable even before that Elf is here?â
âF-fer? Why are you being so insensitive you overgrown ball of fur!!?â n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âWh-whoâs an overgrown ball of fur?! Iâm a majestic Fenrir! A Legendary Beastâ!â
âYeah, yeah, whatever, youâre not the one harassed by that person⦠hey! Get your foot off my head!!â
I tugged at the fur on Ferâs forepaw.
âHow dare you call me an overgrown ball of fur!!â
âGrrr, if you step any harder and my head explodes, just who is going to cook your precious Leviathan, huh?â
The paw suddenly disappeared. I glared at the overgrown ball of fur that is Fer.
âHumph,â said the overgrown ball of fur.
All three of us, the regal Grandpa Gon and resentful Dora-chan, were glaring at him. Sui looked back and forth between us for a moment before bouncing to my side and puffing up her cheeks in the cutest âglareâ I had ever seen.
Fer looked away.
We glared.
He turned another 30 degrees away.
We kept glaring.
Suddenly, he turned around and stomped one paw on the ground and loudly cried, âHumph, itâs all that stupid Elfâs fault. How dare he harass my companions!â
We maintained our glare.
âTh-thatâs right! That perverted Elf kept trying to touch Dora-chan and poke Grandpa Gon for his blood and saliva, itâs disgusting! I, the great Fenrir, have the obligation to protect my fellow familiars!â
â⦠yeah, you do that,â I said.
âHaaahhhâ¦â
ââHaaaahhhhhâ¦ââ
âU-umu, my companions! We should go hunting to alleviate our mood! There is nothing better than a nice hunt to relieve oneâs worries!!â
ââYay~! Pew pew~!ââ
Sui clearly had no idea what was going on, but she caught on to the word âhuntingâ soon enough. Before I knew it, plans for a hunt were already underway.
âO-oi, are you guys really going to go hunting?â said Willem-san nervously. [1]
âWell, it will be another few before the actual dismantling starts, right?â I said, âI understand that thereâs no choice but to wait, but surely itâs fine to let them go and spend their energy a bit?â
âThatâsâ¦â
âUmu, letâs go!â
âA hunt sounds like an excellent idea.â
ââI donât care about anything else, letâs goo!!!ââ
ââYay~!! Hunting~ hunting~ââ
âH-hey, arenât you going to stop them?â Willem-san looked like he was going to pull out his precious hair.
I looked at him for a moment. Then, stepped back and waved a hand for him to step forward. âYou are most welcome to try and convince them not to go.â
There was some blustering, some hemming and hawing, but in the end, Willem-san did not step forward. Not that I blame him. Hopefully, the next time he tells me to âcontrol my familiarsâ, he will remember this moment.
âI-if youâre going hunting, where do you plan to go and, and for how long?â he blustered.
I looked at Fer, the mastermind of this âtripâ.
âWell?â
âUmu, not far. Not with Grandpa Gon anyway,â
I felt it when Willem-san twitched next to me. Still, I maintained my serene expression and said, âAs he says, please help me to report this to the Royal Capital Adventurerâs Guild later.â
âUmu, s-sureâ¦â
[Gumihou: A rather short chapter, but not too bad.]
