"Ai Wat, do you really think we'll last ten years?"
"No- because I want to be with you more than that."
A decade has passed since they promised to stay by each other's side as Sarawat and Tine.
Bright and Win kept that promise for them, just not in the way that they meant it as the two characters who changed their lives completely.
June 20, 2030th, ten years have passed ever since the first online fanmeeting that Win ever had when he first debuted as an actor, in which the event occurred in the time of pandemic.
The world was back to normal long ago- Win was successful in his career after 2gether the Series became a hit and was loved by fans from all around the globe. A flood of opportunities came to him in all directions, be it endorsements, business proposals, and a ton more.
He lived a life full of ups and downs during these past years. Currently, he's on vacation and tried to get his mind off work for a while at least.
It just so happened that someone he hadn't seen in a while also decided to go on vacation.
His phone rang. Bright's name appeared on the screen, calling him just after dinnertime ended.
"How've you been, Win? It's been long since we last saw each other."- the conversation was just like before, nothing changed between them, except now they've gone even further into their careers and had countless projects done over the years.
"I happened to come across a tweet about our first series. Can you believe it? It's been so long yet people are still talking about it." Bright chuckles on the other end of the line.
"What can I say? I did great on my acting after all- pretty good for a first timer, huh?"
"Dumbass, you asked for my help all the time. I remember how you kept on laughing on that one scene where I got my legs broken? Hahaha, you did so many retakes."
"Right, I should be thanking you." Win couldn't help it, those were unforgettable memories for him.
He became a big celebrity known worldwide alongside Bright. Different gifts were sent to him daily by his fans. Numerous projects were done under their names by their dedicated fans who supported them all the way. Heck, they even stars named after them!
"Win." He snapped out of his trance, realizing that Bright was still on the phone with him.
"Yes, P'?"
"Are you free this weekend?"
"Why?"
"I can't even meet up with my first boyfriend? What the hell is that even- just answer my question."
Jokes, still. Win only laughed at his friend's statement and answered, "Of course I'm free. I just finished a long queue of shootings. I asked for a break, pros should get their rewards, right?"
"As cocky as always. Come with me this weekend, I'll treat you to a concert."
"Who's concert, exactly?"
"Not telling."
It's been so long, yet, the Bright he knew was still the same. This was a good chance to take a proper break since everything that Win's been doing was go back and forth in his mansion and sleeping all throughout the day to catch up on rest.
Win smiles a little. Well, he was on a vacation afterall.
"Alright, I'll come with you."
-â¢â¢â¢-
"Now can you tell me who's concert we're going to?"
"You'll know when we get there. Here-"
Win got his mouth stuffed with a mochi a bit bigger than what his mouth can take so he immediately shut up and chewed on the gummy treat.
"We're already in our 30's and you still act like we just got out of teenage life." Win rolls his eyes. It was comforting, having his relationship with Bright stay the same over the years.
He's used to being taken care of by Bright with the little things- those matter to him, because every once in a while, its exhausting trying to be the one who makes sure that everything is well and taken care of.
"No one ever said that once we reach adulthood, we become boring." Bright says in a surprised tone. It's like he's aging backwards at this time.
"Right. Ah, my P' is still as smart as ever. It's a good thing fame never got into our heads." And truly, Win is very thankful for this. What would've happened if they became arrogant?
"Nothing matters more than being kind- that's why I'm taking you here tonight. I want to be reminded of how we started from nothing. Get off, we're here."
Win opened the car door and looked around. They were in front of an open venue with the stage decorated in a simple and homely vibe, band instruments were placed onstage while people started to gather in the area.
Bright took him by the wrist and entered in a different entrance, leading them all the way to the front of the stage. Eventually, the decorations and designs of the stage gave it away for Win when they came closer. He knew then who's concert it was- Scrubb.
"Honestly, do you miss me that much?" Win laughs at his friend. There was no point at keeping quiet about this. He would definitely not hesitate to accept Bright's invitation if he told him it would be a Scrubb concert.
Bright shrugged it off, avoiding Win's question.
The venue was almost packed after fifteen minutes of waiting, and finally, the concert commences.
Just like how they were said to have first met on their first series together, Deep was played as the first song.
The lyrics naturally flowed into both of their minds and they started to wave their hands to the beat of the music.
Win takes a glance at Bright and smiled happily as the person beside him sang loudly with the band on stage.
"When you listen to Scrubb songs when you are happy, you will be happier. When you listen while you are in love, you will be even more deeply in love."
"What happens when you're sad? Will you become miserable?"
"No. When you listen to Scrubb songs while you are sad, you'll feel better."
"I get it now." It was Win's turn to say it, his eyes focused on the handsome prince next to him, still.
"What was that, Nuisance?" Bright jokingly nudged his shoulder and rolled his eyes, grinning ever so widely.
"Nothing." A feeling of nostalgia hit the both of them. They were really thankful for each other's presence, it's like none of them ever changed in the slightest.
-â¢â¢â¢-
Two hours after the concert ended, both of them headed to a nearby restaurant to fill their stomachs. The rush of excitement had died down and they were eating to their heart's content.
"Would you want to drink with me?" Bright suggested. It was early in the evening, too early for either of them to go home just yet.
Win agreed, so they found themselves on a store, stocking up a few bottles of liquor to occupy their car and go somewhere else.
They drove to a nearby beach and climbed up the sea wall, carrying all the bottles they bought.
It was a perfect scenery of the moon. The waves were calm, but not too quiet. The surroundings were luminous for them to see where they were heading towards to.
Win sat down on the edge with both of his feet dangling and put few of the bottles on his left side while Bright sat on his right.
"Thanks for inviting me today."
"Should I say I missed you?" Bright asked him sarcastically while taking a sip.
"It's fine if you do. I know my presence leaves an impact on everyone."
"Seriously, how much cockier can you get? Tsk, Albino Buffalo." The pet name left the both of them in silence.
It was the comfortable type of silence, at least it was for Bright.
Win was starting to think that his friend might be longing to bring back those moments.
They were in the spotlight, they were always together, they were always there for each other- and it reached the point where they became aware that what they have between them is a special kind of relationship.
A sigh escapes from Win. He was brave, wasn't he? He mustered his courage to ask Bright a question that has been held back years ago.
"P'Bright."
Bright responded by looking his way, and placing a hand on Win's shoulder, waiting for Win to continue.
"For once.... have you ever seen me as more than just your friend?" Win bit his lip. He finally asked about what he always feared to know.
"How about you? Have you always just thought of me as someone who's like your mom?" Bright's chuckles filled the air, referring to an interview they had a decade ago for a Japanese magazine.
"P', I'm asking you for real." Win pleaded, taking another sip out of his liquor.
"I'm not telling you unless you tell me. Do you think I felt something other than just friendship for you?" It was at these times that Bright was making a simple question complicated.
"C'mon. It'd be too easy to just straightforwardly answer to your curiosities," he added.
Win took a moment and held his breath, preparing himself to let go of the words he thought he would never say in front of Bright.
"If I want to be honest...
..then, yes."
"And what makes you think that?" those words spilled out of Bright's mouth, his tone wasn't harsh. He was never harsh, especially when it came to Win. It was always just like that.
"Because,
I knew I felt something for you, too."
Win closed his eyes and picked up another bottle of liquor to sip from. It was his feelings that he had locked away years ago and he only had the bravery to open it up at this moment. He knows he trusts Bright enough to let him know how he felt. He knows how much they have relied on each other for years and years of friendship that had passed.
"I see. Then, I can say at some point, we felt that kind of feeling mutually." Bright's eyes were fixed on Win's. It was silent for a moment, both picking up another bottle after drinking up all the previous ones.
"But it's too bad that we didn't talk about this long ago."
In all honesty, Win wishes that he could've been braver in his youth. He knew he felt something other than just platonic feelings for his partner.
"Yeah, it's too bad we both have our own lovers now. We can't go back to that time, though, I wish we can. Maybe we could've told each other how we felt a little earlier."
"If we could've been a little braver back then, would we be just as happy as we are right now?"
None of them dared to acknowledge the thought and pry on it any longer.
They stayed in each other's company, letting silence occupy the atmosphere between them.
Their eyes sparkled from the moon's reflection in the sea, watching the very last bit of their feelings fade as they move on with their lives, but still, thankful for the friendship that both of them have cherished.
