Chapter 24: Chapter 24

My fingers grazed my lips once more. I could still remember the feeling of his lips on mine. He had kissed me slowly and with care. When he had pulled away he was red and it was the first time I had seen him blush. I didn't ask him about the kiss or even talk about it at all. I could tell it made him shy and I didn't want to push him. Instead we laid down and simply talked. Somewhere along the way we had both fallen asleep, he arm securely wrapped around my waist and I was cuddled to his chest. He was warm and I was surprised my back wasn't sore from sleeping on the plain ground.

"What time is it?" He suddenly asked in a whisper and kissed the top of my head.

A small smile danced it's way onto my lips and I couldn't help but place a quick peck on the revealing skin of his neck. He chuckled while I turned and grabbed my phone that was beside us. I winced lightly when I read that it was 3:17. School ended a while ago and I had missed calls from Max, Sara, and even Charlie. Thankfully I had none from my mother but I knew that if I didn't return any of their calls then they'd call my mother. Victor let out a content sigh and pulled me closer to his chest.

"Who are you texting?"

"I'm texting my friends so they'll calm down and not call my mom."

He only let out a chuckle and grabbed my phone, putting it to the side and pulling me so I was straddling him. He stared up at me while I begged the blush to go away as I stared down at him. He cupped my cheek and I leaned in to his touch. His touch was warm and comforting and I wanted more of it. Of course, things always get in the way. A second later we heard cars park and it sounded like they were just outside. We heard laughing and a certain voice made my happy mood go away.

"You think he's home? His car isn't here!" Caden asked someone rather loudly.

Both Victor and I silently got up and crept to the window. We could see his friends around their cars but they started talking in a lower voice so we couldn't hear them at all. Victor sighed and I glanced at him. He gave me an apologetic smile and pulled me into his arms.

"Let me distract them so I can take you home. I can get my other car in the process," he said and went to grab his phone.

I kept watch at the window as he called someone. A second later Caden picked up his phone. I couldn't hear his responses but I, of course, could hear Victor. Victor spoke lowly but not too low to not seem suspicious.

"Caden? I went to get food. Where you at?"

He stayed silent as Caden replied. I couldn't help but silently chuckle since we knew exactly where they were.

"Alright. How about we meet at Jacob's? We can't at my place, parents might come soon. I'll bring food for everyone."

He hung up a couple seconds later and I heard Caden shout their next destination. They got in their cars and were gone within two minutes. Victor and I were quick to get our stuff and leave in his car. He dropped me off at home first, giving me a quick peck before driving off. When I entered the house, the first thing I smelled was cookies. I walked into the kitchen and smiled at my mother who was placing cooking onto a plate.

"Hey, honey! How was school? It's pretty late, where were you?"

"It was alright and I was with Max. He's nervous about his date tomorrow."

"He's so sweet, he shouldn't be nervous."

"I'll be sure to tell him," I said and walked out, going to my room and dropping my stuff on the ground.

I couldn't take the large smile off of my face. I was beyond happy and I almost called Max to tell him. But, of course, I didn't and instead opened the message Sara had sent me. I was a little upset with Sara's attitude today but I wanted to find out where she heard that rumor about me.

From: Sara

Were you with her?

To: Sara

Who?

I was a little confused at first but then I realized that Sara must've thought I was gone with the supposed girl I have a date with. I couldn't help but roll my eyes. She sounded like a jealous girlfriend and we were not even close to that. Sara's love for attention was too big yet she was still a close friend. She just gets too jealous.

From: Sara

You know who. Were you on the date? Was it with that Lacey girl?

To: Sara

I already told you that that was a joke. I know a Lacey but we are only friends. In fact we don't talk much. I'm not seeing anyone. Where did you even hear that rumor?

From: Sara

Whatever.

That was her way of ending the conversation. I didn't want to let her ruin my mood so I instead opened a message from Max. He was curious as to where I was but didn't ask any questions. Instead he was telling me how nervous he waa for his date tomorrow. I wonder if Victor and I will ever go on an actual date.

"Honey! Max and Hector are here to see you!"

My eyes widened and I opened my bedroom door to see Max and Hector smiling at me. Wasn't I just texting Max?

"Hector was driving while I was texting you. I figured that since you responded you were back home. From the confusion on your mom's face, I take it that you told her you were with me?"

"Sorry," I said with a guilty smile and let them in.

Max threw himself onto my bed while Hector sat down on my desk chair. I was a little confused as to why they were here but I wasn't complaining at the same time. I shoved Max's body to the side and sat down at the top of my bed.

"Hey, do you know where Sara heard that rumor about me? Going on that date?"

"It wasn't true?" Max asked jokingly.

I shoved him again and he groaned but let out a laugh. Hector chuckled and shook his head at us. I was trying to be cautious around Hector because if any reason, for some reason, word gets out that Hector and I are getting close, I know for a fact a certain someone would not be happy about it.

"Sara told me she heard it from a cheerleader who heard it from her boyfriend who heard it from his friends who heard it from other friends who heard it from some guy. Didn't tell me who though."

Max and I both snapped our head's towards Hector. How the flipping fudge did he know? Why did Sara tell him? When did Sara tell him? What was going on?

"She was texting me all day today because her friends 'betrayed' her."

"She can be so dramatic," Max sighed, throwing his head back onto my bed while rolling his eyes. "I did not betray her. I've asked her out multiple times and she said no all those times."

"Well I have some good news," Hector announced and Max and I looked over in a much more slower way. "Its official that I'm starting school Monday. "

"Finally! You made it just in time too. The camping permission slips are out Monday too so we need to go get supplies tomorrow."

"Your date is tomorrow," I said and threw a pillow at him. "We can go Sunday. We also need to find Hector a good partner."

"Do you think Sara will want to share a tent with Charlie?" Hector asked, playing with a pencil from my desk.

I shrugged and slightly jumped when a sudden knock sounded from my door. My mother opened it a second later with a smile and a plate of cookies. I loved my mother so much.

"Hello, boys! I just came to drop off some cookies."

Max quickly thanked my mother and grabbed a cookies, moaning after the first bite. My mother giggled and shook her head at him, setting the plate down on my desk. Hector politely thanked her and reached for a cookie the calm way and she gave him a warm smile.

"Mom? Can I go buy camping supplies this Sunday?"

"Oh is the trip already happening?"

"Yeah, but it'll be better this year cause seniors get a different section to camp than the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen," Max mumbled while trying to swallow the big bite he took of the cookie.

"Well of course you can go, I'll give you money to buy the stuff. When do you guys leave?"

"We usually leave the Friday of the week the permission slips are handed out. So, by Friday I think."

"Oh! I think Daniel told me about a camping trip Caden was going to go on with his friends. It must be the school one too. Oh how fun! You guys can bond!"

Max and I stared at each other and I knew we were both thinking the same thing: Oh hell no.
