Chapter 15: "The Descent's Gift"

Love Left Me, But I StayedWords: 928

I sank beneath a heavy sky,

Where dreams lay shattered, and hope ran dry.

The world seemed distant, a fading sound,

And I, a wanderer, on fractured ground.

Yet in the dark, I met my fear,

And saw its face both cruel and clear.

It spoke of truths I long denied,

Of wounds unhealed and tears I'd cried.

Through pain, I found what I'd dismissed—

The strength to rise from the abyss.

Author's Note*

This is my way of honoring the wisdom I've gained through my darkest moments. Writing this verse was like revisiting the times when I felt completely lost, when fear and pain seemed insurmountable. But those moments taught me the most about myself. This verse reflects the realization that the fall strips away everything superficial, forcing you to face the truths you've avoided. For me, the fall wasn't just a loss—it was a gift. It gave me the clarity and courage to rebuild something stronger and truer than I ever imagined.
