Chapter 21: "The words we never said"

Love Left Me, But I StayedWords: 500

I swallowed my truth to keep you near,

turned the silence into love,

mistook distance for fear.

But love unspoken is love undone.

A rope unthreaded,

A war unwon.

I waited for words that never came,

For you to call me by my name.

But love that lingers in the dark

Was never meant to leave a mark.

Author's Note

We build the deepest wounds in the space between what we feel and what we say. I thought silence could keep us safe, but it only buried us beneath the weight of everything we never admitted.
