We sat together,
Yet miles stretched between us,
Your silence was a canyon,
Too wide for my words to cross.
I held my pen,
Hoping to write us back to what we were,
But your gaze was already
Lost to a place I couldn't follow.
Author's note*
Some distances can't be bridged, no matter how close you sit. I felt the weight of every unspoken word, of every glance you didn't return. In that moment I realized: silence can hurt more than words ever could.
