When Su Lin dropped Xia Shiyu off at her home, he noticed Liu Mei pushing a Wanwan Milk Tea cart. “Is that Ye Feng’s mom?” Lin Xiaowan, who had a good impression of Liu Mei, asked.

Su Lin nodded, “We met her at the amusement park before, remember? We bought milk tea from her.”

“I just don’t get it. Ye Feng’s mom seems like such an honest person. How did Ye Feng end up like that?” Lin Xiaowan said, frowning.

After Xia Shiyu went inside, Su Lin prepared to drive off.

“If you don’t, I’ll have to enforce ‘house rules’.” Lin Xiaowan instinctively put her hands behind her back to stop him from touching her.

“Hahaha~! Xiaowan, you’re too cute,” Su Lin couldn’t help but laugh, amused by her protective stance.

Annoyed and embarrassed, Lin Xiaowan hit Su Lin playfully, “You’re awful, Su Lin. I’ll beat you up.”

“Stop, stop, I’m driving. Let’s not get violent,” he quipped.

“You asked for it,” she retorted, still a bit shy.

“Alright, Xiaowan, let me take you home.”

Lin Xiaowan shook her head, “Let’s go to the company first. It’s too early to go home, and there’s no one there. I’ll have to come out for dinner later anyway.”

“Why didn’t you say that when Xiaoyu was here?”

Lin Xiaowan then gave Su Lin a look.

“Oh! I get it, my Xiaowan wants to spend some alone time with me,” Su Lin said with a smile.

“Who… who wants to spend alone time with you? I just forgot when Xiaoyu was here,” Lin Xiaowan awkwardly replied.

Su Lin chuckled but didn’t expose her, “Alright, we’ll go to the supermarket to check things out, then have dinner together. What do you want to eat?”

“I want to eat skewers. There’s a new place from Shu opened at the north gate. I heard it’s really good. Let’s go there, Su Lin,” Lin Xiaowan looked at him eagerly, showing a side she wouldn’t reveal in front of Xia Shiyu.

Su Lin, enjoying this, agreed, “Okay! Skewers it is. Let’s go eat,” he agreed.

Lin Xiaowan really liked how Su Lin instantly agreed to the request she made, without hesitation. This unconditional indulgence was intoxicating for her, and she reveled in it.

The two of them visited the supermarket, where they found that Chen Yang, the usual manager, was not there. He had left the store in the hands of a deputy manager, Zhang Yong, while he went to negotiate for a new location.

Upon hearing of Su Lin and Lin Xiaowan’s arrival, Zhang Yong came over, eager to report on the store’s status.

Su Lin gestured dismissively, “No need to report to me. Just report back to Chen Yang. Everything is fine with the store, right?”

Zhang Yong nodded, “Everything is normal.”

“Good, keep up the good work. If you do well as the acting manager, you’ll be promoted to the official position,” Su Lin encouraged him.

Zhang Yong was thrilled at the prospect. Quan Le Gou Store was now one of the most famous supermarkets in Zhongjiang, and the opportunity to be its manager excited him greatly.

“Alright, we’re just here for a quick look around, then we’ll leave,” Su Lin said.

Zhang Yong noticed that Su Lin was there to spend time with Lin Xiaowan. He felt envious. Su Lin, Lin Xiaowan, and Xia Shiyu were often seen together, and the staff were familiar with them and speculated about their relationship.

Most believed that both Lin Xiaowan and Xia Shiyu were special to Su Lin.

“Su Lin, is Zhang Yong reliable?” Lin Xiaowan asked, concerned about their shared venture.

Su Lin nodded, “He should be. He’s one of Yangzi’s people. We have to trust him.”

“Aren’t you worried about Chen Yang taking people away to become your competitor? In business, his management skills are well-known, and most of the staff were brought up by him. If they really caused trouble, you might not be able to control it.”

Su Lin smiled lightly, “It’s okay if I can’t control the staff, as long as Chen Yang doesn’t betray us, they won’t cause trouble, will they?”

“You trust him that much?”

Su Lin smiled again, “Xiaowan, do you think you and Xiaoyu would betray me?”

“Of course not, I’m your girlfriend, and Xiaoyu wouldn’t either. She’s not much different from me.”

“Yangzi isn’t the type to repay kindness with ingratitude, so we should trust him,” Su Lin said confidently.

Lin Xiaowan nodded, “Okay.” She was somewhat puzzled, though. Even though Su Lin had helped Chen Yang, such favors couldn’t bind someone for a lifetime, especially someone as capable as Chen Yang.

But Su Lin seemed confident, so she didn’t question further. After dinner, Su Lin drove Lin Xiaowan home.

Su Lin hinted, “Cough cough… Hasn’t someone forgotten their changed status?” He pointed at her and then at his cheek.

Instantly understanding his implication, Lin Xiaowan silently smiled and hooked her finger. Su Lin joyfully leaned in close.

Lin Xiaowan playfully pinched Su Lin’s nose, “Hahaha, got you!”

Su Lin, with a mischievous smile, then firmly held Lin Xiaowan and kissed her.

“Mmm…”

Upstairs, Lin Guoqiang was about to open a window for ventilation and happened to see Su Lin’s Mercedes at the gate. He noticed the car lights flickering and then going out, with no sign of Lin Xiaowan getting out of the car.

He became instantly suspicious. “Could those two be doing something in the car?” The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became. “Wife, wife~!!”

Wang Xiaoqian emerged from the bathroom, her face covered in cucumber slices. “What is it? Can’t you see I’m doing my beauty routine?”

Lin Guoqiang said, “I saw that kid Su Lin’s car.”

Wang Xiaoqian, nonchalantly, “You see Su Lin dropping off our daughter every day, don’t you?”

“It’s different this time. Usually, Xiaowan gets out of the car immediately, but today the lights were off for quite a while, and Xiaowan hasn’t gotten out. Do you think they could be dating?”
