Chapter 1127:
But if Clint couldnât even protect the woman he claimed to love, then he deserved to be alone forever.
âDonât hurt yourself,â Rhys said with a frown, noticing the redness on her hand.
âAre you worried about me?â Harlee asked, surprised. She quickly flashed a grin.
âI might have lost my memory, but I havenât lost my compassion.
Caring for you is just natural,â Rhys replied with a stubborn smile.
âIs that so?â Harlee gripped the steering wheel and started the car again, her smile widening. Rhys would always care for her no matter what.
Suddenly, Tonyaâs fingers began to tap frantically against the back seat.
âStop the car. I need to get out.â Harlee glanced at her in confusion.
âWhatâs going on?â
âRitchie is gone, Harlee. I need to find him. I have to go now.â Tonyaâs voice trembled with panic, and her delicate face went pale.
âWhat happened?â Harlee asked, her concern deepening. Seeing the distress in Tonyaâs eyes, Harlee quickly swerved into the right lane, her heart racing as she prepared to make a U-turn.
âDonât worry. Iâll take you to the hospital right now.â
âNo. Iâll track him down myself. I know he is deliberately hiding from me. I have to find him myselfâ¦â As if to calm herself, Tonya continued tapping the back seat while her voice remained incoherent.
The fear washed over Tonya in waves. It was the same fear she had felt the day Ritchie was rushed to the ERâwhen she had thought she might never see him again.

And now it was happening all over again.
Hadnât they promised to face everything together? Why was he making decisions for her, claiming it was for her own good?
Harlee stopped the car abruptly, unbuckling her seatbelt and opening the back door to pull Tonya into a tight hug.
âDonât worry.
He is just hiding. Like I found Rhys, you will find him too.â
The reassuring embrace seemed to calm Tonyaâs frayed nerves, and the cold fear began to ebb away.
Tonyaâs eyes softened as she took a deep breath.
âAlright. I understand now. I wonât panic anymore.â
Harleeâs worry lingered, but since Tonya insisted on finding Ritchie herself, Harlee had no choice but to return to Remson Manor with Rhys.
On the drive back, Harlee turned to Rhys, her expression serious.
âPromise me one thing. No matter what, you wonât deliberately hide from me again, okay?â
Rhysâs lips curled into a smirk.
âI would never do something so cowardly.â
Harlee almost laughed out loud but caught herself just in time.
âAlright, I believe you.
Donât lie to me again.â
