Chapter 1188:
After a brief pause, Harlee responded, âI understand.â
âNo, my dear Harlee, you donât. Rhysâ memory may be stuck at twelve, but donât you think his intelligence, mental capacity, and appearance are just like any other manâs?â Jonathan moved to sit closer to her, taking a deep breath.
âThis morning, I subtly tested it, and it was evident that Rhys felt jealous because of my presence. You didnât pick up on that, and thatâs the issue. Just now, Rhys was upset because you treated him like a child, and you failed to recognize that too.â
Harleeâs eyes widened in astonishment. Jealous? Was Rhys actually jealous of Jonathan?
Jonathan gazed at Harlee.
âSee? Youâre this shocked at my words. Rhys has every justification for being upset.â
Jonathan rose to his feet, moving toward Robbie while opening a fresh document.
âLetâs start by tackling the next strategy.â
Although Harlee worried about Rhys, her tendency to prioritize work remained unchanged.
âAlright, Robbie, show me the latest proposal.â
Jonathan was at a loss, realizing he couldnât assist Harlee in emotional matters.
Once their discussion ended, Jonathan didnât engage further with Harlee.
He merely urged her to reflect on things and reach out if she needed him, assuring her that heâd always be available. Jonathan left the study at a measured pace, seemingly anticipating Harlee to call him back.
But the room stayed silent even after he crossed the threshold. Suddenly, an object landed in his hands.

Jonathan looked down to see what he had instinctively caughtâa lollipop.
Glancing up, he spotted Rhys nearby, sucking on another one.
âI need to talk to you.â Rhysâ eyes were sharp and unyielding.
âWhat do you want to discuss?â After a brief silence, Jonathan seemed to piece things together and gave a small nod.
âGo ahead.
Ask anything.â
Jonathan deduced Harlee hadnât disclosed much to Rhys, nor had her team.
As for Jonathanâs own groupâmost of them deferred to Harlee and likely stayed silent, while the uninformed had little to contribute.
âFollow me.â Without hesitation, Rhys turned and headed toward the glass enclosure, unconcerned about Harlee discovering their exchange.
He knew her well enough to realize sheâd find out regardless.
âYou probably arenât aware that over the past three years, youâve had almost no interactions with Harlee. When you first showed up, there was another woman with you.â Jonathan spoke in a low voice.
Rhys fell quiet.
His knowledge of his own past was minimalâhe only knew that he and Harlee were nearly engaged and that she had saved him.
Beyond that, nothing. No one had ever volunteered information, and heâd never inquired. To Rhys, he wasnât the thirty-three-year-old version of himself, and learning about his past didnât interest him.
