Chapter 1201:
âIf this happens again, donât count on me having your back. Iâll just walk away!â Harlee said sharply.
After draping a blanket over him, she grabbed her laptop and headed to the bedroom without a backward glance.
Rhys remained seated on the sofa, confused. They had made it back safely.
He couldnât grasp why she was so upset.
Had he not done well? He had secured them an extra five minutes and even assisted Christopher and the rest in gaining the upper hand against their enemies.
Clutching the blanket in his lap, Rhys turned his head just in time to see Harlee ascending the stairs to the bedroom. She had really left! And she was angry with him⦠She always treated him like a child who needed safeguarding!
Rhys clenched his teeth, grabbed the water from the table, and downed it in one gulp.
âChristopher.â Harlee called him to check on their situation.
âHow many did you leave alive?â
Breathing heavily, Christopher responded, âHarlee, after you left, Waylon sent nearly a thousand more men.
From the first group, we spared only one, and from the nearly thousand, we left ten.â
Almost a thousand more⦠Leaning against the door, Harlee asked, âAre our people still keeping watch on Liliana? Any updates?â
âTheyâre still watching,â Christopher answered.
âNo new updates. The last report mentioned Liliana acting with extra caution, like sheâs planning something big.â

âSomething big?â Harlee raised an eyebrow. Lilianaâs priority should be eliminating Harlee, and Waylon might have learned about Harlee through Liliana.
Harlee deduced that those monitoring Liliana had been killed. The continued attempts on her and Rhysâs lives meant one thing: Waylon knew who they were and was determined to eliminate them both. Thankfully, Rhys had managed to forge a path for their survival.
âHave we taken many losses?â Harlee asked.
âSome were injured, but there were no deaths,â Christopher said.
Harlee looked over at her laptop.
âGood.
Arrange for their treatment at different hospitals and station a dozen skilled operatives in secret at each site.â
âHarlee, do you think Waylonâs men might follow us here?â Christopher asked, somewhat confused.
âWeâre not in Rovania.
His influence shouldnât reach us here, should it?â
âIâve just provoked Waylon with a move of my own, so heâs likely not going to stay put,â Harlee said, chuckling.
âA cornered beast is most dangerous, especially someone like Waylon.â
âReally?â Christopher sounded skeptical but agreed, saying, âOkay, Iâll organize it.â
After ending the call, Harlee reviewed the information on her laptop again. The situation was escalating. Waylon was bound to act soon. She needed to use this time to refine her strategies.
