Chapter 1204:
He tenderly brushed a loose strand of hair from her forehead and lay down beside her.
âFrom now on, Iâll always keep you safe!â
Harlee grasped his hand firmly and said with conviction, âThis time, you did protect me incredibly well. Without you, I wouldnât have gotten out of that camp.â
They lay side by side on the bed, not looking at each other, yet feeling their bond deepen in that quiet moment.
Suddenly, the phoneâs vibration broke the silence, sounding unusually loud in the serene room.
Harlee picked up the phone and checked the caller ID. It was Christopher. She hit the answer button and switched on the speakerphone.
Christopherâs voice came through.
âHarlee, everyoneâs in place as per your strategy. Whatâs our next move?â
By now, Christopher treated Harlee with the same respect and compliance he showed to Rhys.
âJust stick to the plan as it is.â Harlee added, âBy the way, how many hospitals have received our injured?â
âWeâve covered all hospitals in Baythorn, both large and small,â Christopher answered.
âAlright, make sure those in hiding stay alert and watch closely. If anything feels out of place, act right away!â
After issuing a few more directives regarding her forthcoming tactics, she ended the call and looked up to see Rhys observing her with keen interest.
âWhatâs the matter?â she asked.
gⱯlnÏνð®âsâ¤cóm is your escape
âYouâve prepared to deal with Waylon and Liliana? No more surprises in store for them?â Rhys asked curiously.
âYou figured it out?â Harlee was slightly taken aback. She hadnât anticipated that, with just a subtle hint, he would be able to deduce that she planned to eliminate Waylon and Liliana.
She opened her laptop, reviewed the recent maneuvers she had orchestrated, and then faced Rhys.
âThis is a perfect opportunity for us.â
Initially, she had aimed to teach Waylon and Liliana a harsh lesson, to deter them from further provocations. She hadnât intended to eliminate them.
However, since they continued to target her allies, she had resolved to permanently remove them from this world. She was the type of person who never allowed a grudge to go unpunished.
Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, Harlee turned to Rhys with a smile.
âWhat Iâm about to do is quite risky. Youâll need to protect me.â
Rhys found her increasingly charming in her attempts at sweet talk, and he appreciated it.
He faced her and nodded.
âI will definitely protect you.â He was resolved to safeguard her, even at the cost of his own life.
He wrapped his arm around her slender waist, and she rested her head on his shoulder, her smile slowly widening.
Harlee was aware that the upcoming battle would be far more daunting than the previous nightâs, but with Rhys at her side, she felt invincible. Regarding her family, she didnât want them to worry, so she had assigned them demanding tasks to keep their minds occupied. Lonnie and Skyla, along with Jose and Belinda, were sent on an overseas trip. Now, Rhys was her only close vulnerability. She was prepared to risk it all to protect him, just as he did to carve out a path for her.
