Chapter 1274:
Tears started to form in Harleeâs eyes as she looked around. She understood then what Tonyaâs surprise was: the whole island had been turned into a document of their early life experiences.
âWhatâs the matter?â Rhys asked, descending the stairs and noticing Harlee had paused. âDo you feel okay?â
âIâm fine,â she replied, shaking her head but not elaborating further. From behind, Noel watched Harleeâs reaction and surmised she had stumbled upon Tonyaâs surprise.
âThe air is quite refreshing here,â Noel stretched leisurely and then approached Harlee with a smile. âLetâs continue exploring and see what other surprises are waiting for us.â
âAlright,â Harlee said, her eagerness renewed to uncover the romantic gesture Tonya had left for her.
Rhys felt uneasy about Harlee and Noelâs silent communication but concealed his discomfort, choosing instead to drape his arm around Harleeâs waist as they moved ahead. Three years had left gaps in his experiences.
Upon arrival, the cruise ship anchored off a remote island lacking proper infrastructure. Untamed trees flourished, necessitating the use of machetes by the group to forge a path.
As the group ventured deeper, the surroundings grew increasingly peculiar, haunted by sharp cries.

The leader paused, alert, attempting to pinpoint the criesâ origin.
Goodwin gripped his medical kit close, not straying far from Patrick. He couldnât help but wonder where they were. This place felt far too eerie. Abruptly, a wild-looking woman with unkempt hair and claw-like nails dropped from a tree, crashing onto his kit.
Patrick acted swiftly, yanking Goodwin to safety, leaving him rattled but unharmed.
âAh!â In a burst of fear, Goodwin screamed and scrambled to climb onto Patrick.
The Shadow Moon Society members stepped forward, intending to subdue the woman, yet Harlee had already approached with composure and knocked her out.
âTonya mentioned this to me. She said Nicola lived on the island with a mentally ill person. This must be the one she was talking about.â Harlee added, âIâm not sure if you remember, but Tonya and I once went to an uninhabited area of Aelkarta Island for a mission. This forest is designed to resemble that place, so if you happen to step on bones or anythingâ¦â
Before she could elaborate, Goodwin screamed again. He had just dismounted from Patrick and accidentally stepped on a bone, which snapped beneath his weight.
âThis⦠Itâs modeled, right? Mrs. Green, this has to be a prop, right?â Hope filled Goodwinâs eyes as he looked toward Harlee.
Harlee shook her head. âTonya values authenticity. Sheâs probably left the bodies of enemies or bad people here.â
In an instant, Goodwinâs face drained of color, as though his soul had slipped away, and he nearly crumpled onto the bones.
Patrick assisted him up, joking lightly, âGoodwin, arenât you a doctor? Shouldnât you be accustomed to bones?â
Goodwin stared at Patrick, his expression vacant as he struggled to respond. âI⦠A doctor?â
Goodwin was still in a daze. Soon, he snapped out of it. Indeed, he was a doctor. Yet, what kind of doctor found himself treading on bones?
Harlee, noticing Goodwinâs distress, earnestly explained, âTonya has replicated places she and I had explored right here on this island. We should expect more strange settings as we go. Everyone needs to brace themselves mentally.â
