Chapter 1299:
âLee, you are the most important person in my life, and that fact will hold true even beyond death.â Rhys held Harlee close, comforting her with gentle pats on her back. He was determined to restore her health and happiness. Listening silently, Harlee absorbed his warmth as she rested against his shoulder. Strangely, Rhysâ faint tobacco scent always brought her peace.
âLee,â Rhys whispered.
âYes?â Harlee responded, her voice muffled.
âHoney,â Rhys whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
âYes?â Slowly sitting up, Harlee faced him with a puzzled expression. âWhat is it?â
âJust felt like calling out to you,â he responded.
Surprised, Harlee searched his eyes. They sparkled with mirth and then flickered with desire. She blurted out, âIâm pregnant.â
âYou donât see me as that type of man, do you?â Rhys playfully tapped her forehead before sweeping her off her feet and into the bed. âOur people will be occupied outside for a while. You can go out later to arrange your work. For now, letâs just relax a little more.â
âIâve rested enough,â Harlee retorted.

âI hardly slept. Iâm really exhausted,â he murmured. âSleeping in unfamiliar places is hard for me. I need you next to me to fall asleep.â
Harleeâs heart fluttered uncontrollably. She found herself unable to resist his gentle persuasion and tender manner. His gaze lingered on her, and after a moment, she relented, curling up in his arms and shutting her eyes. With a gentle pat on her back and a smile, Rhys whispered, âSleep.â
Harlee and Rhys slept until two in the afternoon. Luckily, Patrick had prepared lunch for them, ready to be heated.
After a hearty meal, Harlee and Rhys ventured outside together, hand in hand. Initially, Harlee had planned to stroll to aid digestion before getting back to work. But as they stepped outside, she saw the group assembled, all eyes on them.
In the center of the crowd, Patrick and Robbie were engrossed in a laughter-filled conversation. Beside them sat Goodwin, looking ill, his complexion pale against the sunlight. Dario and other islanders formed a circle around them, all smiling broadly, especially those who had sought revenge.
Harlee surveyed the crowd quietly, noting Taniaâs absence.
Harlee slowly pulled her gaze away, trying to appear casual as she made her way toward the crowd. âIs everyone here?â she asked Robbie.
Standing, Robbie answered, âExcept for a few resting in the tents, all islanders are present. As for our people, except for those on guard duty, everyone is here.â
âGood.â With a slight nod, Harlee turned to Dario and said, âDario, please gather everyone else. I have an announcement.â
âYes!â Dario immediately started calling out around the tents loudly. Before long, everyone arrived, including those who had been on guard duty.
âHas everyone gathered?â Harlee asked.
Robbie took a moment to count and then replied, âEveryone is present.â
âGood.â Harlee nodded, her eyes sweeping the crowd until they rested on Tania, who sat quietly in a corner. Her expression briefly hardened before returning to normal.
âI have a few things to announce,â Harlee said calmly. âSince everyone is here, Iâll begin. First, is there anyone who wishes to leave the island?â A heavy silence settled over the group.
