Chapter 1328:
Harlee and Rhys took their seats nearby, maintaining their composure and largely ignoring the commotion. However, Harlee couldnât help but notice Samsonâs unaffected demeanor and cast a curious glance his way. He sat there, perfectly calm.
Gazing at Serena, Samson spoke calmly, âSerena, didnât you vow never to return to the Fletcher household? Based on our past agreement, are you here now to repay the expenses of your upbringing?â
Serena glared at him, her blood boiling and her eyes filled with fury. She wished she could tear him to pieces. âHow can you speak such shameless words? You know very well what you did back then. The cost of raising me?â she sneered, her laughter tinged with anger. âRemember, Samson, we settled everything ten years ago!â
From her position, Harlee observed, her eyes shifting to Samson.
Samson sat calmly, holding a teacup and sipping from it every so often. He stared at Serena with an unreadable expression, a sly gleam briefly flickering in his cloudy eyes.
âWhat are you talking about? Iâm lost,â Samson responded with a mild chuckle, setting his teacup down. âYouâve already struck your mother and brother, cursed them, and now youâve brought strangers into our home. Are you trying to replace me as the head of the Fletcher family?â
His tone carried an undertone of command. So, Serena wouldnât acknowledge his efforts in raising her? It didnât matter. He would make sure she felt indebted to him.

âSamson, how dare you speak like that now? Ten years ago, you tortured me. Had it not been for Harlee, I might have died at your hands. What debts could I possibly have to the Fletcher family after that?â Serena stood firm, her eyes piercing as she faced him, wishing she could dismember him. âToday, I will make you pay for your past actions!â
With those words, Serena drew a handgun from her belt and aimed it directly at Samson, her expression steely and determined.
Brinley, the closest person to Serena, was startled by this turn of events and hastily retreated several steps, distancing herself from the imminent danger.
Samson, unfazed by the gun aimed at him, turned to Brinley and said somberly, âMy dear, Serenaâs misunderstanding of us runs deep.â
Brinley, momentarily lost in thought, snapped to attention at his words. Her eyes widened as she watched him nod. Regaining her composure, she rose from the floor and seated herself on the sofa. Assuming a stern posture, she said to Serena coldly, âI might overlook those slaps as childish tantrums. Yet, we remain your parents. What youâre doing is reckless, and youâll come to regret it. Remember, your official records still list you as a Fletcher!â
Her last words carried an unmistakable threat.
Despite Harleeâs efforts to extricate Serena from the Fletcher familyâs grasp using all her connections, she hadnât managed to alter Serenaâs official family registry. Technically, Serena was still bound to the Fletcher family.
âYou did this deliberately!â Serena accused, her voice shrill and her complexion pale. âI have cut ties with the Fletcher family ten years ago! Donât think you can force me into submission!â
âLegally, Iâm still your mother!â Brinley retorted, rising to confront Serena with a fierce glare. âYou chose to leave with an outsider without our consent. Even in death, you will be recognized as a Fletcher.â
âI reject that identity!â Serena cried out, her voice hoarse with emotion. The moment she entered the Fletcher household, the old resentments surged. Brinleyâs provocations stripped away her calm, leaving her emotionally vulnerable.
âItâs not your choice,â Brinley replied coldly. âRemember, our adoption was legally sanctioned! Serena, send these intruders away now. Iâll take responsibility for todayâs damages. If you donât make them leave now, donât say I didnât warn you. Iâll expose everything about you in the Fletcher family villa online!â
