Chapter 1355:
âHello, Serena,â Rhys replied in a relaxed tone. He stretched his arms slightly, and as he did, the rolled-up sleeves revealed a faint mark.
That was when Serena dared to look up, her eyes widening at the bite mark on his arm. Damn! It seemed her earlier warning had truly affected Rhys! Oh no! Harlee might not find pleasure in their future intimate moments.
Serena, intent on making sure Harleeâs joy remained intact, planned to find a medical solution when she got back.
Rhys, catching Serenaâs worried look, had no idea she had pegged him as impotent.
Later, when Harlee mentioned this to Rhys as a joke, he nearly dragged Serena out in the middle of the night to question her about her medical skills. Of course, this incident happened after Serena had developed her remedy.
Watching Serenaâs expression shift, Harlee made an educated guess about what was on Serenaâs mind. She opted not to clear the air, though, since it was Rhys who had sparked the confusion. He was responsible for the mix-up, and if he had just stayed inside the RV as sheâd instructed, the misunderstanding wouldnât have happened. It seemed only right that he should face the consequences.
Harlee stood tall, acting as if nothing had happened, and turned her attention to Robbie.
Catching her look, Robbie set aside his bewilderment over the tension and said seriously, âThe Fletcher and Happer families are now under our control. Everything inâ¦â

Vloustin City is calm. Thereâs no trouble brewing. The Happers in Baythorn havenât made any moves either. Though our people who had emerged from the maze had minor wounds, none were critically injured. Howeverâ¦â
Robbie paused, glancing at Serena, and added upon seeing her usual demeanor, âRhett is in the hospital for urgent care. Heâs lost a lot of blood and has other serious health issues. His survival will depend on his resilience.â
Serena gasped at the news. Before Harlee could ask, she interjected, âIs his condition really that grave? What about his family?â She had thought Samson hadnât inflicted severe harm on Rhett and his family.
âYes,â Robbie nodded subtly and continued, âRhettâs family is okay. They just need medical attention.â
Relieved yet unsure why, Serena exhaled deeply.
Once Serena was done, Harlee calmly asked, âAny other news about the villa?â
Robbie frowned and responded, âThiago and Judson have inspected it. They canât shut down the maze mechanism right away.â Thiago and Judson were experts in such mechanisms.
Robbie then pressed the intercom to demand updates on the mechanism from Thiago.
Through the intercom, Thiago immediately began his briefing. âHarlee, based on our research and analysis, if this maze mechanism continues to operate for much longer, the entire Fletcher villa will sink. Judson and I suggest blowing it up.â
âWill the mechanism continue to operate if the gears keep moving?â Harlee asked.
Thiago signaled to Judson, and after receiving the same response, he continued, âYes, the entire mechanism is essentially a lethal trap hidden within the maze. Both Judson and I advise demolishing it, howeverâ¦â
âAre you concerned that the Fletcher family might not agree?â Harlee quickly understood the cause of their hesitation.
âThey might not dare to object, but Judson is worried that if you destroy the villa, youâll be forced to compensate them.â After a pause, Thiago continued, âWith the ongoing projects of rebuilding the island and opening farmhouse restaurants across the globe, he suggests we do not spend money on things that arenât needed.â
Judson had been meticulously managing the finances since he took over as financial director.
