Chapter 1376:
Upon hearing Harleeâs orders, Franco Juarez, one of her subordinates, swiftly helped the maid to her feet, only removing his hand from her mouth after securely shutting the door.
Maintaining her distance from Harlee, the maid clenched her teeth and bitterly exclaimed, âYou havenât even been disfigured after being splashed like that? Why donât you just die, Harlee?â
As Harlee gazed at the maid, a sense of familiarity crept in, though she couldnât quite place where she had encountered her before. Puzzled, she inquired, âIs there some conflict between us?â
âSome conflict?â The maid scoffed.
âThatâs an understatement. I donât just want to kill you. I want to destroy you completely!â
Harlee set aside the burn ointment she was applying, her expression turning cold. Despite the water stains and the burn on her right hand, which gave her a disheveled look, her commanding presence remained intact.
âYou seem somewhat familiar,â she said, her voice detached.
âJust somewhat familiar?â The maid burst into mocking laughter.
âHarlee, you really donât remember me?â
After a pause, the maidâs eyes filled with sorrow and resentment.
âOf course, who could recognize me now, looking like this? Itâs all because of you! If you hadnât ruined my life as the privileged daughter of the Gill family, would I be this miserable? If you hadnât acted so remorselessly, would I have ended up in prison?â
Harleeâs eyes narrowed as recognition dawned on her. She frowned slightly and murmured, âAdelina?â

At the mention of âAdelina,â a chill passed through Francoâs eyes, and he tightened his grip on her arm, wary of any sudden movements.
âYes, itâs me!â Adelina screamed wildly, straining against Francoâs grip as she shot daggers at Harlee.
âHarlee, did you think I wouldnât seek revenge? If not for you, I would still be the esteemed daughter of the Gill family. If not for you, I wouldnât have turned into this grotesque figure. If not for you, my voice wouldnât have been ruined!â
Breathing heavily, her body writhing with rage, Adelina continued, âItâs all your fault. Even in death, Iâll haunt you! You and your unborn child will never know peaceâ¦â
A loud slap landed on Adelinaâs face, sending her head askew.
Franco stared at Harlee, taken aback. He had never before witnessed her strike someone with such force.
Adelinaâs veins bulged on her forehead as she spat out, âYou bitch, I curse youâ¦â
Seizing Adelina by the collar, Harlee unleashed a flurry of slaps, alternating between right and left, until Adelinaâs face swelled and her surgically modified nose twisted out of shape. Only then did Harlee stop.
Harlee announced, âFirst off, you can curse me, but keep my unborn child out of this. Speak another senseless word, and Iâll turn your existence into a nightmare.â
Before Adelina could retort, Harlee gripped her chin, forcefully tilting her head up, silencing her.
Harlee continued, âSecond, did I even know I wasnât a real Gill until you showed up? I only learned the truth when you came back to the Gill family, so how could I have stolen your life?â
She enunciated each word deliberately.
âThird, when you returned, I left everything behind and took nothing with me. As for your imprisonmentâhad you not targeted me, would I have even had the opportunity to send you behind bars?â
