Chapter 1534:
Standing on the stairway, Harlee gazed at the gathering that had reassembled at Remson Manor. Before she walked slowly downstairs, the corners of her mouth slightly raised.
Hearing the sound of her footsteps, Rhys looked up, immediately abandoning his work. He walked toward her with purpose.
âLee, Iâve missed you so much.â
He rested his head against Harleeâs chest, his voice soft as he spoke.
Harlee let him lean into her, gently running her fingers through his hair, her smile growing a little wider.
âWhy didnât you tell me you were coming back? Is everything in Jusdence sorted out?â
âAlmost.â
Rhys took her hand, gave it a squeeze, and then sat down on the sofa beside her, their fingers comfortably intertwined.
Robbie heard the noise and immediately poked his head out of the kitchen, his voice bright with enthusiasm.
âHarlee, Cillianâs on kitchen duty tonight. His cooking is as good as your husbandâs, so weâre in for a treat.â
Patrick dashed out as well, beaming.
âHarlee, Serena brought macaroni from T&H Island. Itâs fantasticâyou have to try it.â

Rhys wrapped his arm around Harleeâs shoulder, his fingers intertwining with hers, his eyes betraying a hint of reluctance. He swallowed hard, his voice low and husky.
âDo you really have to go to the desert?â
Harlee had chosen a training base in the vast desert of the Northwest, known for its harsh conditions and rigorous training. She had also arranged for skilled fighters to challenge the recruits.
With a lazy tilt of her head, Harlee hooked a finger under Rhysâ chin, her smile teasing.
âWould you rather I didnât go? You could come with me.â
Rhys sighed deeply. If it werenât for his commitments, he wouldnât have questioned her departure. The situation in Jusdence remained unresolved, and Brixton was struggling to manage it alone.
Turning to him, Harlee cupped his face in her hands, her expression radiant.
âIâll come to find you once itâs all settled.â
Rhys chuckled, turning to kiss her hand as his smile grew.
âOkay, Iâll wait for you.â
Robbie, having just stepped out of the kitchen, caught their tender exchange and quietly slipped back, leaving them to their moment. He returned to watch Cillian cook, finding a simple pleasure in the sight.
That evening, after they enjoyed the dishes Cillian prepared, Patrick suggested a game of cards. Knowing Harlee would leave for the Northwest in the morning, they played for just under two hours.
Predictably, Patrick was the first to call it quits, having lost all his money and owing millions to Harlee and Rhys. Only his theatrical pleas and a pitiful display saved him from losing more.
After a while, inside the bathroom, Harlee took the hairdryer from Rhys, her fingers weaving through his hair. The air around them thickened with intimacy, building with each breath they took. Rhys, leaning against the sink, looked down. Abruptly,
