Chapter 45:
The murmurs grew into curses. If not for Marceloâs skill, he might have kissed the world goodbye by now. Mayer was just a nutcase.
âTake Marcelo off to rest,â Rhys commanded firmly, his gaze unwavering.
At this time, Mayer was already out of his car, ripping off his shirt in a defiant display.
He aggressively gestured with his middle finger to the crowd.
âYou losers from Multitopia!â His laughter echoed, scornful and biting.
âJust a pile of garbage! Youâre not even worthy to clean my boots!â
The crowdâs faces turned stony, particularly the dozen racers who had competed but lost miserably.
âMr. Greenâ¦â The manager glanced anxiously at Rhys.
The manager had been counting on Rhys to keep things from spiraling out of control. Yet, witnessing Mayerâs reckless display, he was too apprehensive to let Rhys join the fray.
Mayer was absolutely out of his mind! The risk of a mishap was too great, a burden the manager feared he could not shoulder.
âIâll race you.â A figure rose from the stands.
After Marceloâs defeat, could someone else really be brave enough to take on the challenge? Even Mayer glanced over, taken aback.
Adelina raised her head, her expression one of fierce pride.
âI once admired your driving skills, which is why I showed my affection for you.
But I never expected you to act like this. You humiliated us. Today, Iâll prove our mettle.â

Adelina deliberately spoke these words to garner approval from the crowd.
Just as Adelina had expected, those who once regarded her with disdain now looked at her differently.
At least, at this critical moment, Adelina dared to stand up.
Regardless of her driving prowess, her resolve was clear to all.
Feeling the shift in the crowdâs demeanor, a victorious glint appeared in Adelinaâs eyes.
Clearly, she had made the right move.
Adelina hadnât stepped up unprepared.
Before returning to the Gill family, she had worked at a racetrack, mingling with the wealthy kids to forge connections, during which she had honed her racing skills.
Plus, she had instructed Phoebe to tamper with somethingâ¦
Adelina glanced secretly at Phoebe, who had just come back and gave her an OK gesture.
Adelinaâs grin widened as she glanced at Mayerâs car.
Today was an unexpected chance. If she defeated Mayer, she would be seen as a hero among the elite youths gathered here.
After that, integrating into the upper-class circle would fall into place naturally.
âYou think you can?â Mayer faced Adelina, his sneer filled with contempt.
Standing firm and self-assured, Adelina declared, âIâve been tearing up the tracks for over a decade. Just watch. Youâre going to be just another notch on my belt.â Her confident voice sparked a flicker of hope among the onlookers.
