Chapter 454:
Are you certain about inviting Harlee? Perhaps you should reconsiderâ¦â
Angela responded with a decisive nod of her head.
Anger flared within Angela, her eyes darkening with bitterness, her fingers curling into fists.
âSo, is there anything I can help you with now?â Lillie asked.
Leaning close, Angela whispered her plan into Lillieâs ear. Once Angela finished speaking, they exchanged a conspiratorial smile.
Harlee reclined on the sofa, savoring a plate of spaghetti and crispy meat prepared by Rhys.
Rhys was across from her, meticulously making coffee to help with her digestion. Patrick stepped in slowly from outside, greeting them with his typical sincerity.
He only approached them and stood still after receiving their permission.
Chuckling about a rumor he had heard, he said, âMr. Green, Miss Sanderson, did you hear? That scheming Hilton girl, Angela, has secured Wade Brooks. Theyâre getting engaged tomorrow.
And guess what? Previously, Wade was specifically chosen by Wilton for Lindsay.
Even more outrageous is that Lindsay and Angela are thick as thieves now.â
Handing Harlee a cup of coffee, Rhys asked without looking up, âHowâs Wilton?â
Patrick was slightly stunned and replied, âHeâs off on another archaeological dig with his wife.â
Rhys had guessed as much and then focused back on brewing Harleeâs coffee. Patrick, taking out an invitation, asked, âMr. Green, Miss Sanderson, will you attend the engagement?â As Rhys poured more coffee for Harlee, his voice resonated deeply.
âHarlee, what about you?â

Harlee sipped her coffee, chuckling.
âThe invite came addressed to the Sanderson family, with my name clear as day. Skipping it would just break their carefully laid plans, wouldnât it?â
Rhys understood her implication instantly.
He sat beside her on the sofa, lifting her feet onto his lap to massage them.
âThen Iâll accompany you.â
Relaxing into the cushions, Harlee nodded.
âLetâs go and enjoy the show together.â
When Patrick saw Rhys massaging Harlee, he was left speechless, his mind once again struggling to comprehend what he was witnessing. Rhys glanced up sharply at Patrick.
Patrick quickly recovered from his astonishment and excused himself. The last time he made a thoughtless remark about Harlee, Rhys had punished him by sending him to Claelia for a month of community service. Thankfully, he had the sense to apologize to Harlee first, or he might have still been stuck in Claelia by now.
Rhys, contented, looked up and adjusted the pressure of his massage.
Although Patrick wasnât much of a disturbance, he cherished the moments of privacy with Harlee. It was only half an hour into their private time when Brentonâs call interrupted. Sensibly, Brenton refrained from bothering Harlee directly. Instead, he issued a warning to Rhys: return Harlee or forget their approval of their marriage.
After hanging up, Rhys rejoined Harlee, who had sat up on the bed.
