Chapter 560:
Clint was later moved to a VIP room in the general ward, sharing it with Tiffany.
Harlee had deliberately arranged for this. She had the hospital prepare a VIP room that could accommodate two patients and had the nurses move both Tiffany and Clint into the room.
When Tiffany was wheeled in, she appeared bewildered by the sudden transfer until her eyes landed on Clint.
By that point, Clint was awake and regaining strength with the help of a caregiver, who was feeding him liquid food.
So, when Tiffanyâs bed rolled in, Clint felt surprisingly upbeat.
Having already received Harleeâs blessing to pursue Tiffany, he greeted her with enthusiasm.
âTiffanyâ¦â
But his smile faded the moment he noticed her arms and legs encased in plaster.
His initial happiness was replaced by alarm.
His voice faltered.
âWhat happened? How did you end up like this? Are you in pain?â
At first, Tiffany could handle it lightly. Since Harlee had promised to keep her feelings hidden, she continued behaving as if nothing had changed between them. Yet, the words âAre you in pain?â struck a nerve. She wanted so badly to bury herself in Clintâs embrace and let her tears flow freely. The agony she endured felt overwhelming, almost unbearableâ¦
But Tiffany didnât dare act out. In reality, she offered a small, calm shake of her head.
âIt doesnât hurt. The casts make it manageable.â
With that, Tiffany finally mustered the courage to meet his eyes.

âWhat about you? Does it hurt?â
Clint mirrored her response with a gentle shake of his head.
âIâm fine.â
âI blacked out from the shock at the moment of the accident, so the pain wasnât as bad.â In truth, the pain had been excruciating. Neither wanted the other to worry, equally unsure whether the other actually cared.
Harlee stood nearby, completely overlooked by both. Watching their interaction, she finally understood Patrickâs and Hamiltonâs annoyance. Next time, sheâd make sure to send the extra audience away before things got too awkward.
Harlee interrupted with an exaggerated throat-clearing.
Her voice was light, teasing.
âJust a reminder. Thereâs a third person in this room, in case you forgot.â
Clint and Tiffany froze, their faces heating up in sync. Unaware of the otherâs feelings, they both kept their emotions tightly under wraps.
Harlee decided to save them from further embarrassment.
âClint, as you requested, I didnât tell our parents anything, and I also replied to Brentonâs texts for you. Just make sure to keep up the act.â
At the mention of Brenton, Clint flushed again. The moment he got his phone, he saw the message Harlee had sent back, claiming he was in the middle of wooing a girlfriend.
Clint instinctively glanced at Tiffany, only to find her staring back at him with her usual innocent face.
