Chapter 77:

“Apologies alone would render contracts obsolete. Is this how you manage things as the top hacker globally?”

His confrontational tone marked him as a tough character to deal with.

Beneath her black veil, Harlee’s eyes tightened.

Irritated yet without a leg to stand on, she asked flatly, “And your point?”

The man didn’t answer immediately, yet Harlee sensed his gaze piercing through the darkness toward her.

Only upon this meeting did the man, none other than Rhys, realize that the renowned hacker, Quick Cameo, was actually a woman.

Rhys eyed Quick Cameo at the door, his expression tight.

A black hat topped with a lace veil cascaded down to her calves, cloaking her completely.

Only a shadowy outline of her face was visible through the veil, marked by elegant contours, smooth skin, and bold red lips, all radiating a perilous charm and the threat of danger.

Harlee, in turn, observed the man veiled in shadows.

His face was obscured, yet the intense vibe he gave off was unmistakable.

A coldness in his voice, Rhys broke the silence, saying, “Given your initial failure to uphold the agreement, I’m inclined to think I should cut the commission…”

He was interrupted by Harlee’s chuckle, which soon morphed into a laugh, her body shaking from amusement.

“What’s so funny?”

Harlee calmed her laughter, her voice dropping to a cold tone, and she replied, “I don’t entertain negotiations. If you’re unable to afford my rates, perhaps you shouldn’t engage my services. Isn’t it absurd to invent such a reason to slash the commission?”

Standing nearby, Hamilton, masked, wore a look of displeasure.

He hadn’t met anyone quite so bold before.

“Do you think my boss is worried about a little money? See where we are now. The rival’s hackers have breached our third defense. We’re in this mess because you were late. My boss has been more than lenient by not cutting your entire fee!”

Hidden behind her veil, Harlee’s eyes sparkled as she gazed up at Hamilton’s tall frame.

She said deliberately, “Your boss underestimates my skills. My lateness doesn’t mean I can’t protect the files.”

Hamilton, red with anger, doubted she grasped the gravity of the situation.

“They’ve penetrated our three defenses already. We’re about to lose the last one.

All you can do is try to secure what’s left.

And yet you speak of protecting files?”

“Fetch me a laptop with a V20 processor at the highest configuration. You can do that, can’t you?” Harlee didn’t bother to argue with Hamilton and turned to address the shadowy figure in the darkness.

Hamilton’s temper flared.

“And who do you think you are? That’s my boss’s personal laptop.

After all your delays, you show no regret?”

“Just give it to her,” Rhys interjected, his voice low.
