Chapter 796:
Tonya asked, âHarlee, whatâs the matter? Are you concerned that Matteo canât keep Hale in check? Matteo virtually rules over half the criminal underworld in Uwhor.
Detaining Hale shouldnât be an issue.â
Harlee responded with a casual wave of her hand.
âIt just strikes me as odd.â
Tonya glanced at Rhys.
âDo you find it odd as well?â
âBetter safe than sorry,â Rhys replied in an even tone.
While he was confident everything was under control, he chose to exercise extra caution, knowing Harlee was concerned.
With his eyelids drooping slightly, Rhys quietly commanded, âHamilton, instruct Bart to intensify surveillance.â
âUnderstood,â Hamilton nodded.
Harlee took a sip of coffee, trying to quell her unease and steady her emotions. She then turned to Tonya with a serious expression and asked, âDo you really think Hale would let go that easily?â
Without hesitation, Tonya shook her head.
Haleâs obsessive trait was unmistakable.
He would stop at nothing to get what he sought. The likelihood of him just letting go was minimal.

Could it beâ¦â
Harlee nodded in agreement.
âSame mind here.
He might make his move in the next few days.â
âEnsure everyone is on high alert.â
âAlright, Iâll take care of it right away. Weâll make sure he doesnât disrupt your engagement celebration.â
With this, Tonya stood up, whispered a few instructions to Harlee, and departed.
After assigning tasks for Bart, Hamilton returned to find Tonya leaving, his lips twitching slightly.
He couldnât help but wonder what had transpired. It felt as if a storm was on the horizon.
Hamilton realized he had missed some critical updates while he was out in the hallway and decided to get details from Patrick later.
Just then, Harleeâs phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID before picking up.
âMom⦠Yes, Iâm with him⦠Now? Okay, weâll come back right away.â
After ending the call, Harlee turned to Rhys, her hand naturally seeking his, and offered a gentle smile.
âRee, come home with me.â
Rhys warmly took Harleeâs hand, his ears tinting pink at her mention of âhome.â He grinned and replied, âAlright.â
Hamilton and Patrick subtly averted their gazes. They were growing weary of witnessing the coupleâs overly affectionate displays.
