Chapter 8:
How could someone like her possibly know how to fix a helicopter?â
âLet go!â Harlee snapped at Lindsay, her irritation palpable. She shot a look at Rhys, silently conveying that if he didnât intervene, she would just give Lindsay a piece of her mind before walking away, not caring about the elderly manâs fate.
Harlee delivered a warning to Rhys.
âControl your woman! If you donât, Iâll walk away right now.â
Rhys opened his mouth, intending to explain that Lindsay was not his woman, but when he noticed Harleeâs disinterested look, he pursed his lips, dropping the idea of offering an explanation.
Rhys directed a frigid stare at Lindsay.
âIf you stir up any more trouble, even if Central Hospital needs a translator, I will send you back to the Morgansâ house immediately and let your father teach you a lesson.â
At this, Lindsay understood Rhysâ wrath and fell silent, not wanting to cause trouble for the Morgan family.
Frustration bubbled inside her.
With no further interference, Harlee finished the system replacement in just eight minutes. She gathered her tools and said in a cold tone, âAlright. You can have someone test it now.â
The pilot stepped forward right away, but when he saw the newly updated user interface, he was dumbfounded. The advanced system was too complex for him to manage.
He quickly admitted he couldnât operate it.

Rhys turned to Harlee and asked, âCould you fly the helicopter to the hospital? I can double your pay.â Another ten million dollars? Harlee raised an eyebrow, impressed by his generosity. Noticing that the old manâs condition was getting worse, Harlee accepted without hesitation and took the pilotâs seat.
Lindsay climbed onto the helicopter, clearly unhappy.
âYou think I donât see through your tricks? If you believe this will grab Rhysâ attention, you might as well stop dreaming.â
Before Lindsay could finish her complaints, Harlee hopped out of the helicopter, opened the door beside Lindsay, yanked her out, and shoved her to the ground.
âGet lost!â
Harlee figured that if she had to listen to Lindsayâs nonsense the whole way, the money simply wasnât worth it.
Lindsay landed hard on her face, her mouth filled with dirt. She glanced up with teary eyes, ready to throw insults, but caught Rhysâ warning glare. The words stuck in her throat, and she quickly tried to sound pitiful.
âIâm sorry. I wonât talk back again.â
âIâll stay quiet from now on. Old Mr. Greenâs illness still needs my translation. Please donât leave me here.â
Lindsay dreaded imagining what could have happened to her if she were left there. In that wilderness, who knew what dangers could be waiting for her?
Seeing that Lindsay was finally behaving, Harlee didnât waste any time. She went back to the cockpit and started the helicopter.
Before long, they were in the air.
Sitting quietly in the back, Lindsay kept her head down like a frightened mouse, but her eyes betrayed her malice. The helicopter hit its top speed and reached Central Hospital in just forty minutes.
