Chapter 862:
Predictably, only Harlee had the power to provoke such a reaction from Hale.
Hale sat on the floor, his gaze intently fixed on a tenderly backlit photograph of the couple displayed on the screen, along with interviews of bystanders and their congratulatory messages.
He remained still, his eyes becoming increasingly bloodshot. The hatefulness radiating from him made it seem as though he wanted to devour the entire TV.
Eventually, after finishing a bag of chips, Aldrich observed Hale lifting his head.
A look of fierce vengeance washed over Haleâs face, and a terrifying energy shimmered in his eyes.
Hale gave a fierce look at Aldrich.
âI want to see Harlee!â
Realizing he had reached his objective, Aldrich placed the remaining bags of chips into his pocket.
âYouâll see her when sheâs available.â
Haleâs expression turned even colder.
âI want to see her now!â
Aldrich laughed, looking down at Hale as if he were a joke.
âDo you think youâre in any position to make demands? Who do you think you are?â
Haleâs eyes flickered with surprise, but he quickly returned to his brooding state.
âI said I want to see her. If you try to stop me, I wonât hesitate to make my point using the corpses of the Green family!â
Haleâs words implied that if Harlee did not visit him, he would target Rhysâ family.
Aldrich immediately became more vigilant.

Despite being locked in a cell with no way to communicate with the outside world, Hale might have other plans in motion. The news of Rhysâ incident had already shattered Harlee. If any harm came to the Green family, she might just annihilate the entire Uwhor underworld to make them pay.
Aldrich let out a cold snort.
âYouâre quite daring, almost as if you werenât the one locked up in prison.
Hale, just face the truth.
Do you really believe anyone who ends up in Harleeâs hands can escape a fate worse than death?â With these words, Aldrich turned and walked away, seemingly unfazed by Haleâs threats.
Aldrich straightened up and exited cell 494. Then, without missing a beat, he dashed away to make a call.
Aldrich relayed Haleâs words, expressing his unease.
âHarlee, it looks like Hale has a backup plan. I doubt Hale would mention this without reason. Iâm worried thatâ¦â
Harlee cut him off with a composed tone.
âI understand. Just keep doing what youâre doing.â She then ended the call.
Bettie, noticing Harleeâs frown, asked, âIs there trouble at work? Is it something urgent? If you need to go, I can pack the food for you.â She was anxious Harlee might skip the meal.
Harlee reassured her with a smile.
âItâs nothing serious, Bettie. I couldnât wait to enjoy your cooking.â
Relieved by this, Bettie smiled and invited everyone to the table.
