Chapter 9:
âMr. Green, the ward is ready. The operating room and the doctors are standing by.
Does your grandfather have any undisclosed medical conditions or drug allergies?â a doctor asked in a foreign language as they pushed the elderly man toward the operating room.
Upon hearing this, Lindsay lifted her chin with pride. She shot a scornful glance at Harlee before replying with a confident smile, âNo, his grandfather doesnât have any.
Heâs always eaten healthy and has never been allergic to seafood.â
The doctors exchanged confused looks at her response. What did seafood allergies have to do with anything? But Lindsay remained quite sure of herself and continued, âIâm the future granddaughter-in-law of this old gentleman. You must save him, or Iâll hold you accountable.â
The doctorsâ faces darkened.
Even though the Green family was rich and powerful, Lindsayâs arrogance was over the top. Rhys misinterpreted the doctorsâ expressions as signs that his grandfatherâs condition had taken a turn for the worse.
Noticing Rhysâ anxious expression and then glancing at the two-million-dollar check in her pocket, Harlee couldnât hold back anymore. She took the medical records from Rhys and spoke fluently to the doctors.
âThis woman does not speak for Mr. Green. Old Mr. Green has severe diabetes along with myocardial ischemia, which could affect his healing.
Also, he is allergic to penicillin, so please be careful with any medications.â

After finishing her words, Harlee handed the medical records to the doctors. The doctors understood immediately, seeing that the details matched her explanation perfectly. They nodded in gratitude, giving Harlee a thumbs-up and showering her with praise.
âWhat do you think youâre doing? Do you even grasp this very language? Do you want to put Rhysâ grandfather at risk? This is no time to show off.â Lindsayâs face fell at the doctorâs words as she realized her translation had been full of mistakes, making her look foolish.
Grinding her teeth, she shot Harlee a hateful glare, twisting the truth to cover her own errors.
Harlee couldnât help but laugh at the irony of Lindsayâs accusation. With a smirk, she retorted, âWhoâs really showing off here, misinterpreting critical medical history and drug allergies as seafood allergies? Conditions like diabetes and heart issues increase surgical risks by a mile, and ignoring a penicillin allergy? Thatâs potentially lethal. If anyone here could cause a fatal error, itâs you, Miss Morgan. Just a few mistranslated words and someone could die.â
Harleeâs words turned Rhysâ face grim.
He cast a cold, scornful look at Lindsay. If Harlee hadnât joined them today, he doubted his grandfather would have survived with Lindsayâs misleading translations.
Just the thought of it made Rhys shudder.
His fists clenched, and his gaze turned as hard as ice. It seemed he had to teach the Morgan family a lesson.
âRhys, you have to believe me! I was translating accurately. Itâs this woman whoâs making up stories! The doctors hadnât even asked about diseases or allergies. She fabricated everything. I didnât make any mistakes. Trust me!â Lindsayâs face flushed a deep red with unease as her poor translations were pointed out. She frantically clutched Rhysâ sleeve, tripping over her words in desperation.
