Chapter 98:
âSixty percent.â
âThatâll do.â Harlee smacked the bar top.
âLetâs go meet with Matteo.â
As Harlee adjusted her wrist, she brushed against her bracelet.
âHow is the preparation for Tonyaâs Shadow Moon Society going?â
Ritchie hesitated, then quickened his step to match Harleeâs.
âSheâs hardly putting any effort into it. Sheâs planning to return home for a break, saying that organizing the Shadow Moon Society event has drained her and she needs to recharge. Really, do any of the assassins from the Shadow Moon Society actually rely on her oversight? Sheâs only hosting and gathering people, leaving her with little tasks to handle.â
Hearing Ritchieâs grumbling, Harlee found it quite amusing. If Tonya did head back home, sheâd likely leave a string of admirers in her wake. While Tonyaâs fondness for Ritchie was apparent to all, except for him, who assumed his feelings for her were merely one of friendship, Tonya actually found his clumsiness adorable.
Here Ritchie was, having yet to realize he might face Tonyaâs admirers once she returned from abroad.
He was competent in many ways, just not the sharpest when it came to matters of the heart.
Harlee had no intention of offering any advice to Ritchie. She was no expert in matters of feelings either, and relationships could be quite complex.
When Harlee and Ritchie reached the private room upstairs, they found Matteo growing impatient.
Matteo, a key player in Uwhorâs underworld and legitimate markets, had managed to dominate half of the industry there by the time he was just thirty-five.
Every journey starts at gαâηÏνððsâ¤cðð
He was known for his formidable approaches and merciless nature. Rumors circulated that after he took over his familyâs business from his father, he expanded their empire fivefold in just three years.
Matteo sat there in a sleek black suit, his figure imposing, sporting gold-rimmed glasses with firmly pressed lips, presenting a polished yet menacing demeanor, radiating a potent, controlled intensity.
Upon Harleeâs arrival, Matteo acknowledged her with a nod.
âMiss Sanderson?â
Harlee narrowed her eyes slightly and exchanged a glance with Ritchie.
Both were taken aback.
Clearly, nobody expected Matteo, a man famous for his ruthless tactics, to actually appear so deceptively elegant.
Harlee kept her expression neutral.
âIâm Harlee, the manager of Janessa Studio.â
Through his research, Matteo was already familiar with both Janessa Studio and Harlee. It seemed, however, that not many were aware Harlee managed the studio, not even her own parentsâpast or present.
Matteo asked, âMiss Sanderson, would you mind introducing me to Quick Cameo?â
Harlee seated herself on the sofa beside Matteo and soon reclined, relaxing.
âIâm happy to be of help, but surely an introduction ought to come with some benefits, correct?â
Harlee was known for her business acumen. If there were two profits to be made, she would never settle for just one.
