I had a side glance at him. He was still awake.
My mind drifted back to memories again.

How can Maria be so ruthless?
There were these three lambs which came into our garden, we don't know from where. They were so cute.
I was sad and heart broken.
After the function that day in college, Annie was head over heels for Luiz. She kept saying to Maria that she wanted Luiz. My dad knew Luiz's mom Caroline so they agreed to have lunch with us today.
I am sure it means more than lunch for Maria and Annie.
What if Luiz agrees to marry Annie?
So what? He will definitely be someone else's husband in his life. So it should not kill me this much.
"They will come today. Make sure those lambs are killed. Or else they will create a mess.", Maria said.
Nooooooo, she cannot kill those innocent creatures.
I ran out of the kitchen and went to literally beg her.
"Please Maria! Please don't kill them. I shall keep them away when the guests come.", I said.
"No way. Just go and cook fast, you ass.", saying that she pushed me away.
"Please... please... don't do this. I promise to keep them away.", I said as I was crying.
She grabbed my hair and pulled it.
"If they create a mess then I shall kill them.", she said like a warning.
"Hmmm", I said.
I cooked the food and cleaned the house.
It was my time to hide in the guest house and hide those lambs.
It was almost an hour. I was playing with the three lambs.
The room turned out to be stuffy due to lack of ventilation. I tried opening the windows but they were very dusty.
I was very tired to clean the windows.
I opened the door slightly for fresh air.
All of a sudden one of the lamb managed to escape.
Oh no, I am so brainless!
I quickly closed the door so that the rest of the two lambs don't run out.
I ran behind the lamb but it was running so quickly.
Suddenly, two huge hands held the lamb from the other side.
I saw who it was and my mouth went dry.
Luiz!!!
He was just a meter away holding the lamb.
I couldn't look away from him. He was dressed in a white suit. This was the first time I saw him this close.
I can capture this moment in my heart forever.
Those brown eyes were looking at me without blinking even once.
I had to look away.
This was so embarrassing!
I looked behind him. There was a woman standing behind him who was looking very dignified. She must be Caroline. Next to her was Maria who was shooting glares at me.
I was dead today. But I don't want these lambs to die.
"What is your name?", Luiz asked.
I felt nervous.
"Lara.", I said breathing heavily.
He just continued looking at me. I took the lamb from him.
"Thanks.", I said.
He didn't say a word. He just looked at me with an expressionless face.
I ran away.
Because I was scared. Because I was nervous. Because I couldn't look into his eyes. Because I had to hide from Maria and save these lambs.
After some time, I took those three lambs in my hands and ran out of the gate. I was searching for a garden or a park where I could leave them.
Finally, I found a park.
"Sorry, but I have to leave you here.", I said to them.
As soon as I kept them down they started following me.
I plucked a fruit from a tree and threw it the other side.
It is easy to fool the animals because they are innocent unlike us.
They ran away after the fruit and I ran towards my home, having tears in my eyes.
I really loved them a lot!
After reaching back to home, I checked the surroundings.
Looks like they didn't leave yet.
I went back to the guest house.
Even though I was sad for leaving those lambs, I was happy that I could save their lives.
After some time I drifted back to sleep.
I was grabbed by my hand very harshly and made to stand on the floor while I was sleeping.
What time is it?
Maria dragged me to the home.
The sky was dark. It was night.
A dark night!!
I was beaten like hell that night. I couldn't feel my legs anymore. They were numb.
Luiz did not accept to marry Annie and I was the one to be blamed that night.
Did he really not accept her because a small lamb came his way? But no, he seemed to have care towards that lamb, I thought.
That night I couldn't stop crying because of the pain and that night Annie couldn't stop crying because of being rejected.
It was indeed a dark night.
Next day, it was lunchtime and I was waiting for my dad to come.
I had to know the truth today. Everything would be sorted out.
I was walking in the hall from one corner to another because I was restless.
"Please sit down Lara, you are distracting me.", Caroline said as she was reading some fashion magazine.
In the meantime, my dad came.
God! It seemed like eternity even though it was a few days of my marriage.
I really missed him.
He was on his wheelchair. I sat down and held his palms in mine.
"How are you dad?", I asked.
"Not well. Feeling guilty to have ruined my daughter's life once again.", he said.
"What do you mean Abilo? She is with me.", Caroline butted in.
"Your son also has to keep her happy Caroline. Not just you.", my dad replied her.
"I am fine dad. I just want to know a few things so that the misunderstandings can be avoided.", I told him.
After having lunch, Caroline and I settled on the couches and dad was on his wheelchair.
Yes! I will finally know the truth.
