Luiz had left for work and as usually, I was feeling bored.
I switched on the television and started watching a movie called BABY'S DAY OUT. I felt like I died laughing. It was very funny and I had to admit the baby was so cute.
I saw the wall clock it was lunch time. Since I had phone now, I had an urge to call Luiz all the time.
I decided to call him.
The phone was ringing for long when he finally picked up the call.
"Hello... Lara... is everything ok?", he was worried.
"Yeah I am fine. Relax!", I said.
"Fine. Okay. I thought there was some trouble.", he said.
"Should I call you only when there is a trouble?", I asked.
"Not really. Anything important?", he asked.
"Yeah. Had lunch?", I asked.
"What?", he asked as if he couldn't believe what he just heard.
"Did you have your lunch?", I asked.
"Yeah. What about you?", he asked this time.
"Not yet.", I said.
"Then go and have. Its time.", he said.
"Okay. Bye.", I said.
"Are you sure that you called me only for this?", he asked.
"Yeah.", I said.
"Fine. Bye.", he said and cut the call.
It was night time and Luiz was having dinner along with me.
He never stopped appreciating the food prepared by me.
I liked it that he was appreciating the food.
"So how was your day?", I asked him.
"It was fine.", he replied curtly and continued having the food.
I was waiting for him to ask how my day was. But I waited for two minutes and saw that he was not going to ask me. So I decided to ask him myself.
"Won't you ask me how my day was?", I asked.
"Tell me. ", he said.
"It was boring. But I watched BABY'S DAY OUT movie for some time and it was fun!", I said.
"Oh I see.", he said that with a wide smile.
"I watched it when I was a kid.", he said.
"I am feeling bored Luiz.", I said.
"What can I do about that?", he asked.
"I want to go out.", I said.
"Yeah sure. Make sure that you take the security along with you.", he said.
"I want to go out with you.", I said.
"With me?", he asked surprisingly.
"Yeah.", I said.
"Okay where do you want to go?", he asked.
"Wherever you say.", I told.
"Okay let me see. You like shopping?", he asked.
"I like but I have lot of dresses. Anywhere else?", I asked.
"Okay let's go for dinner this weekend.", he said.
"Sure.", I was more than happy.
All I did that week was waiting for the weekend. I was more bored. Luiz never came for dinner. Whenever I would call he said that he was busy or he had dinner already. He used to wake up before me and leave for work.
I knew that he was a busy man and I should get used to his lifestyle. Moreover, he said that he would spend the weekend with me. So, I waited.
But on that day, something quite opposite happened.
"Sorry Lara. But I have to go to Malaysia.", he said.
He was sitting on the bed and packing his things.
"Oh that is fine. We shall go some other time. Should I help you with packing now?", I asked.
"No need.", he said.
"When will you be back?", I asked him.
"No idea.", he said.
I don't know why his business trip fell on this particular time. That too on a weekend.
He quickly packed his things and was about to leave.
Will he not have dinner?
"Have dinner with me.", I said.
"I am getting late Lara. Please.", he said irritatingly.
I held his palm. I don't know why but I felt very sad.
"Please come back soon.", I said.
He looked into my eyes and said, "Bye."
Without even waiting for my reply he turned back and left.
Is everything fine between us?
Days passed by, but Luiz never came back. He never picked my calls. I did not have Caroline's number also.
I was really tensed. I was tired of calling him but he never took my calls.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang. My happiness knew no bounds.
Its Luiz!
I ran towards the door to open it. But as soon as I opened it, I was depressed again.
"What are you doing here Alex?", I asked.
"I came to see you. Are you fine?", he asked.
"Where is Portia? Why are you here in her absence?", I asked.
I didn't like his presence since the first time I met him.
"I need not have Portia all the time with me. I need not go wherever she goes. I have my own life.", he said.
"Good to know that. Why did you come to see me?", I asked him in a louder tone.
He went and sat on one of the couches and made himself comfortable there.
"Jane get me a cold coffee.", he said.
Jane came from inside the kitchen and greeted Alex. Then she went back and busied herself for preparing cold coffee.
"Come here Lara. Sit next to me.", he said pointing the space next to him.
I went and sat on the opposite couch.
"You won't listen.", he said sarcastically smiling at me.
He got up and came next to me and I got up immediately.
"You wish!", I was fighting my urge to slap him.
"Don't create a scene Lara. I just came to see you. I missed you a lot.", he whispered to make sure that Jane doesn't listen to him.
"Whatever!", I said with utter bitterness.
"Learn to move on Lara, your divorce proceedings are going to start soon. Luiz already spoke to his lawyer regarding this.", he said with a wicked smile.
I was shocked was an understatement.
"Oh really, who told you?", I asked him.
"Luiz is at our place since last few days.", he said.
Did I hear him right?
